We can't as far as I know. It's a full season loan without a recall

Adkins was quoted as saying in the press conference earlier

""Aaron Martin, who has waited patiently on the bench, has gone to Crystal Palace for a half season or full season of games to aid his development."

I read this as meaning we have the option to recall him in January (or indeed Palace can send him back), although I guess he may just have forgotten how long we loaned him for!

I think the site misquoted what he has said from what I saw on Saints Player. Pretty sure he was talking about 50% of players coming through the academy and then spoke about Martin in that context.

Simon Kjær could be a name to watch over the next couple of weeks.

I started the Simon Kjaer rumour on Football Rumours at the start of summer as a joke. It's good to see it's still alive. FWIW Kjaer is a top defender and if we do end up getting him (which we won't) I wish to declare myself an ITK.

Can I just say to people questioning others views on players Saints should buy and saying that they are not ITK, that this is a HCDAJFU thread where people can post names who they personally feel can do a job for us whether or not it is actually going to happen. People just need to relax and not take everything at face value in this thread sometimes. It can get very tiresome.

I would guess because Martin is on loan we have the option to recall him anytime we want. Bart going without a replacement definitely lined up does seem a little worrying right now though.

Problem was, Notts County insisted they wanted a Goalkeeper, otherwise Fourpast would have gone

Rafal Wolski from Legia. Highly talented 19 year old attacking midfielder. Quick, good passing, incredibly composed and astounding skill. Played for Poland in the Euros.

Would be an excellent signing. You can see from tonight that we're toying with the idea of playing 4-5-1, he would be perfect 'in the hole'.

I'd prefer to have Anna Friel in the hole.

Mannone..Arsenal ?

Dawlish Town are not interested in taking our Tommy as a reserve GK....Not football league standard...

I was impressed with Stephens , Ward-Prowse, Shaw and Chambers...Potential is obviously there and we will be seeing a lot more of these lads.

Anderlecht showed that they were at least 4 weeks ahead in training and match play..

Arsenal had a lot of youngsters and a few experienced players...and both Saints games were training games.

Reality of what was on display and what will come in training and friendly games...

Lots more to come from the mighty Saints.:)

WIFM

Sorry should be on other thread...

Accept Mannone in GK backup... ON LOAN....

If we got Gazziniga I assume we wouldn't then go back for Butland. Neither would want to be third choice.

getting both of these wouldn't surprise me. Seems like they are both highly rated BUT between them they haven't even played 50 league games yet. We will need two decent keepers (KD will not be good enough for much more than 2 more seasons I would think) and having two exciting prospects fighting it out will be great for the club.

The youth players aquitted themselves very well yesterday...:)

Shaw and Chambers in the first game against a usefull Anderlecht team.Ward-Prowse and Stephens against Arsenal ..albeit a reserve Arsenal side:rolleyes:

Although around the 17/18 age group they did not look out of place......break through for one or two and all developing into first team players without a doubt sooner than later...:D

Excellent kicking and commanding in the air, by the looks of this.

I reckon the best video to gage this guys quality would be the one of all the goals he conceded last year. Being good at kicking and catching crosses is no good if he lets in sloppy goals. The best keepers may not pull of worldy saves week in, week out. What makes them great is the fact they very rarely make mistakes.

I like the look of Gazzaniga on the video. As well as his kicking, commands his box which is an advatange because of his height at 6ft 5". Gils fans seem to think he has potential for such a young keeper too.

Was our Number 8 in the second match (V Arsenal) Stephens?

Jack Stephens was number 6 and played centre back alongside Seaborne in the second match.

Number 8 was James Ward-Prowse and he was playing in central midfield in the second match.

Thanks

Should really start wearing glasses to football...

just some trash i saw somewhere on the internet saying we are interested in mateo masacchio. looks decent and young possibly a good signing. might try to sign him on fifa see if he's any good ;p

Given Villareal's plight it is a plausible but (IMHO) underwhelming rumour...
