Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition

I think a lot of people need to remember how strong the Prem is. Someone said if we had these four strikers it would be great: Lambert, Sharp, Lee, Rhodes.

Really? Rhodes has shone in L1 but we need to add some real quality and shouldn't be signing players we think would be good in the Championship, but players that will have an impact on the Prem.

14 of the 38 games are against Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle.

We have fought to get up and need to give ourselves the best chance to stay. If we get players from the Championship or below they need to be the very best players in the league.

We need to bring in players who are better than our current best players....

What we really need is pace. Both up front and at the back. We do pass it about but we'll be battered in the prem if we dont have decent pace at both ends of the pitch

I like some of the suggestions on here like O'Hara, Guthrie, Clyne, Dann, Jarvis, Fletcher, Whittingham etc and we should raid West Ham if they mess up. Blackburn have some decent players too if they go down

Cannot see WHU letting many players go unless they have to for financial reasons. They'll do everything possible to keep Noble/Vaz Te/Tomkins/Cole...and the rest I'd say aren't that great.

West Ham are deep in the mire..

Promotion needs to happen for them and a free stadium to sell off their ground for big income...

It will be very interesting to see the fall out if they miss out on the play offs.. and don'T get the freebie of the the Olympic stadium..

Who thinks Gold , Sullivan and Brady will be putting their hand in their own pockets:rolleyes:

Er, hang on.

Is that stadium actually free? One of the sticking points was that West Ham were going to get a 40M loan off the local council to help cover the stadium bid.

He's been poor. Does this not also make people think twice about Rhodes? Haven't seen enough of him to judge, but going purely on goal records isn't enough.

I don't know why people throw in examples like this. CMS fails, Lambert succeeds, Pilkington succeeds, Doyle fails, plenty inbetween like Long. You can find countless examples of succeeding and failing. It has absolutely zero bearing on whether Rhodes will succeed. It's all down to his ability and mentality. Rhodes is far more of a team player, has more composure and workrate than CMS and doesn't just look to shoot every 5 minutes.

I'm sure he'll be a success, but if he isn't, it won't have anything to do with CMS or any other player.

Leicester have made a bid for Robert Koren according to Sky Sports.

Leicester will go up next year - 100%

Pearson was always going to try and cherry pick the best players from his former club. I mean, look at the way Adkins raided S****horpe for Jonno Forte. Happens all the time. ;)

Snodgrass and Jarvis would be brilliant. Would give us plenty of wide midfield options and competition, take the pressure off Lallana. Both young with plenty to prove, good team players, hard working and with some decent ability.

Both seem likely to leave, just depends on price and competition I guess.

Would also give us the option to play Lallana off the front man for away games.

I was watching the City vs Utd game last night and they kept mentioning that Utd made one mistake at the back and got punished - the amount of chances that we have given the opposition recently will mean that we could be in for a right few spankings next season unless we either improve at the back or change the personnel

Blackpool leaked a lot of goals in the prem - didnt do them any harm!

FFS people, if I hear any more of this negative ********, about the squad making the wrong transfers, buying the wrong players, not getting cover, selling so and so when we don't want them to etc etc then I think we will collectively shoot you. Everything will be done properly and done well, we have Nicola and Nigel at the helm... SO STFU with any negative ******** and enjoy the summer!

Kasper Schmeichel

Nathaniel Clyne

Matt Phillips

Jay Rodriguez and/or Gary Hooper

Matt Jarvis

CB

Then 1 or 2 Sigurdsson like signings from the foreign leagues.

GK - Schmeichel, Davis, Bialkowski

LB - Fox, NEW, Harding, Shaw?

CB - Hooiveld, NEW, Fonte, Martin

RB - Clyne, Richardson, Butterfield

RM - Phillips, Guly, De Ridder, Chaplow

CM - Cork, Schneiderlin, NEW, Hammond

LM - Lallana, Jarvis, Puncheon

ST - Lambert, Hooper, Rodriguez, Lee, Sharp

Out - Barnard, Jaidi, Forte, Connolly, Dickson, Holmes, Seaborne, Forecast

I'd go with that.

what is the maximum squad size is it 25 as that will affect some on the periphery of the team

They were embarrassingly bad against West Ham. Ex-hammer Konchesky, and ex-skate Nugent were especially poor. They need to improve if they want to go up.

wum?!

No, he won't be playing football for a while yet, he's only just learnt to wipe his ar5e again.

Saints are going to sign an ex-Premiership winner within the next two weeks - fACT! ;)
Well Michael Owen did tweet his personal congratulations on our promotion, calling us a "great club".

What is the deal with O'Hara, he is incredibly average and has now been relegated twice.

And Jenas... lol. Say goodbye to positional discipline and completed passes if we ever were to sign him

Would love Lansbury, hilariously mis managed by BFS this season. Can play centre and wide right...
not sure what the fuss is about him. He couldn't get in the Norwich side in their run in, looked poor for West Ham this season and when I saw him in the England U21s at SMS he was rubbish. We'll need better to survive next season.

Seriously need to get a move on as far as signings are concerned. We need to show our intent and we must be decisive !

I assume you're trying to be funny.
