SNSUN Posted 17 June, 2012 Posted 17 June, 2012 Don't believe anything you read on this site... http://www.southamptonrumours.co.uk/ Any idiot can post a "rumour" on it, and they certainly do... I'm amused at how my Simon Kjaer rumour from weeks ago took off on that site. I've almost started half believing it.
Saint Scott Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 QPR to sign Ryan Nelson on July 1st. I still think he could of added some experience to our defence.
S-Clarke Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 QPR to sign Ryan Nelson on July 1st. I still think he could of added some experience to our defence. More fool QPR imo. We need pace in our team, the last thing we need to do as add aging/slow premier league players just because they have 'experience' in the PL.
Matthew Le God Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 Ryan Babel... http://www.caughtoffside.com/2012/06/18/southampton-keen-on-former-liverpool-flop-ryan-babel/
Crazy Diamond Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 Ryan Babel... http://www.caughtoffside.com/2012/06/18/southampton-keen-on-former-liverpool-flop-ryan-babel/ He was on £60k a week at Liverpool and Hoffenheim can afford a lot, lot more.
sfc4prem Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 He was on £60k a week at Liverpool and Hoffenheim can afford a lot, lot more. Where's the evidence that Hoffenheim can afford "a lot, lot more"?
The Kraken Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 More fool QPR imo. We need pace in our team, the last thing we need to do as add aging/slow premier league players just because they have 'experience' in the PL. They've also just signed Andrew Johnson. Both decent (if short term) signings IMO.
Crazy Diamond Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 Where's the evidence that Hoffenheim can afford "a lot, lot more"? Hoffenheim's recent history - the very fact they are where they are and how they've got there. Like spending £7 million on a player whilst in the second tier.
EBS1980 Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 isnt caughtoffside another one of those websites that you take anything on there with a very large pinch of salt?
CanadaSaint Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 isnt caughtoffside another one of those websites that you take anything on there with a very large pinch of salt? I hope so.
MOSaint Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 isnt caughtoffside another one of those websites that you take anything on there with a very large pinch of salt? caughtoffisde teamTALK goal.com tribalfootball None of those are trustworthy.
Crazy Diamond Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 caughtoffisde teamTALK goal.com tribalfootball None of those are trustworthy. TeamTalk is good for goal updates... If you like them about ten minutes after they've been scored.
Saint Stimp Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 Hoffenheim's recent history - the very fact they are where they are and how they've got there. Like spending £7 million on a player whilst in the second tier. According to reports we were willing to splash a similar fee for Gary Hooper...
Bearsy Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 I quite liked the look of that bender the other night. Would shift a lot of shirts!
Crazy Diamond Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 According to reports we were willing to splash a similar fee for Gary Hooper... Yes but did we? And other than a Scottish newspaper saying we might, was there any proof that we were going to spend that level of money? No and no. Hoffenheim are little more than a village team - population of around 3000. What's happened to them is incredible.
S-Clarke Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 Babel clearly has talent if used in the right way, and played regularly - whcih he never really was at Liverpool, was always a bit-part player and could never get any consistency. I always thought that he'd do well at a smaller/middle premier league club where he would be a ''big fish''. Interesting if it happens.
Matthew Le God Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 Yes but did we? And other than a Scottish newspaper saying we might, was there any proof that we were going to spend that level of money? No and no. Lennon and Adkins pretty much confirmed the bids went in.

Possibly - Birmingham bid £8 million for him and he wasn't against going there, so you never know.
Crazy Diamond Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 Lennon and Adkins pretty much confirmed the bids went in. We were talking about the actual figure, not if the bids had gone in or not. Did Adkins or Lennon say how much these bids were for? No.
S-Clarke Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 We were talking about the actual figure, not if the bids had gone in or not. Did Adkins or Lennon say how much these bids were for? No. Probably similar to what we paid for Rodriguez to be honest, there was a large sum of money set aside to get a ''big name'' striker - it's been set aside for the last 12 months it seems.
View From The Top Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 £6m before Wolves will talk about Jarvis.
S-Clarke Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 £6m before Wolves will talk about Jarvis. A bit more attractive than the £10+ figures that I was reading. It's still a hell of alot of money though, I think there are better wide players out in Europe who we could snare for that price (or less).
Matthew Le God Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 Players back in training on the 28th June, Nigel Adkins says he would like to think there will one or two additions before that date (said with a huge grin on his face). So the next 10 days will be interesting...

So the next 10 days will be interesting... Ah fantastic. I remember him saying and doing similar last season in both windows only for everyone to assume it was certain we'd sign players within a few days and when those self set deadlines expired then everyone moaned and said we had missed out on targets.

Turkish Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 I wouldn't be surprised if we've got one or two out of contract players to join us at the beginning of July as well.
Crazy Diamond Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 Better be a keeper as Davis will be ****ed being the only decent one. Adkins is going to make a comeback.
Saint J 77 Posted 18 June, 2012 Posted 18 June, 2012 (edited) Adkins is going to make a comeback. If only we had Nigel Adkins in goal in his prime, I guess we can only dream... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AxztnnAMmUw Edited 18 June, 2012 by Saint J 77

jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 19 June, 2012 Posted 19 June, 2012 Graeme Bailey has tweeted saying we have an exciting deal lined up but cannot say anything just yet. This guy is usually bang on as well so no reason not to doubt this.
Turkish Posted 19 June, 2012 Posted 19 June, 2012 Graeme Bailey has tweeted saying we have an exciting deal lined up but cannot say anything just yet. This guy is usually bang on as well so no reason not to doubt this. Who is he?
S-Clarke Posted 19 June, 2012 Posted 19 June, 2012 Who is he? Works for Sky, as their football reporter I think. Pretty solid source I'd have to say. Wonder who it is that he'd class as Exciting? Let the name guessing begin.

MOSaint Posted 19 June, 2012 Posted 19 June, 2012 Pretty sure it will be Elia I don't know, would he really need to make the name to keep a name that's already been publicly linked quiet?
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 19 June, 2012 Posted 19 June, 2012 Pretty sure it will be Elia Would love that, but pretty unlikely...
S-Clarke Posted 19 June, 2012 Posted 19 June, 2012 Pretty sure it will be Elia That's the first name that sprung into my head. For some reason I think his 'exciting' criteria equals a very talented forigen signing, who hasn't got his chance at a 'big club'.
Webby Posted 19 June, 2012 Posted 19 June, 2012 I have a feeling we have a couple of deals wrapped up. After all, the jrod deal was agreed long before he got back from his hols.
saint_ed Posted 19 June, 2012 Posted 19 June, 2012 I don't know, would he really need to make the name to keep a name that's already been publicly linked quiet? If GB has specifically been sworn to secrecy then yes, it doesn't matter if it's rumoured elsewhere. All he will care about is that it doesn't come from him.

S-Clarke Posted 19 June, 2012 Posted 19 June, 2012 http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/866752-eljero-elia-to-be-subject-of-chelsea-bid-as-liverpool-transfer-interest-wanes £17m price tag a couple of years ago! Yep, that's the sort of signing as i'd class as exciting in Sky Sports terms. He's just not done it at Juventus for whatever reason and the club/his agent have been offering him around, I doubt many of the ''bigger'' clubs are too keen on taking a gamble so it leaves the middle half/bottom load of teams in the PL' and other european leagues. I imagine we'd have to pay a decent wedge in terms of a loan fee and a % of his wages, so I'd be inclined to say that would knock out quite a few of the bottom half premiership clubs. I might be talking rubbish and he's not the player we're interested in, but to be honest when Sky say an exciting deal I doubt it's someone from the NPC.
Saint_Ash Posted 19 June, 2012 Posted 19 June, 2012 I think it'll be someone that no one has thought of or said, I like these out of the blue deals!
Saint Charlie Posted 19 June, 2012 Posted 19 June, 2012 Chelsea in for Victor Moses. Sturridge must be worried!
