Thedelldays Posted 10 June, 2012 Share Posted 10 June, 2012 Don't you think that the Financial Fair Play Regulations will have a moderating affect on the wages of players like this? I'm hoping that the environment has shifted, making it harder for the big clubs to pad out their squads with players that the smaller clubs would love to have. You would think so. Then Chelsea have just paid £35m and £200k a week for hazard... I doubt they have spent all their money already either

Marsdinho Posted 11 June, 2012 Share Posted 11 June, 2012 Here's one for the central def position, not quite the young up-and-coming start of the future, but HCDAGJFU IMHO http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sotirios_Kyrgiakos Signed for Wolfsburg after leaving Liverpool, but seems to be out of favour as he went on loan to Sunderland last year. My eyes were firmly fixed on the Championship last year, so I dont know how he got on at Sunderland to be fair. If he had a shocker then please feel free to ignore my ramblings. Colinjb Posted 11 June, 2012 Share Posted 11 June, 2012 Nothing other then blind specuialtion. The Burnley fans seem a bit scared about us maybe going for for Keiran Trippier to accompany Jay-Rod, Cork and Fox. We need a defender... and specifically a right back to provide Richardson with competition....

Nabil Hassan @NabilHassan79 #saintsfc are also said to be interested in striker Dame N'Doyle as well as Watford defender Adrian Mariappa. Nabil is just reporting some stories doing the rounds in the papers this morning. Realistically, we're not going to be looking for another striker now with Rodriguez, Lambert, Sharp and Lee giving us plenty of options. Not forgetting the likes of Barnard and Forte, who I expect to be sold at some point. As far as I know, we've enquired about Mariappa, but nothing more. We've sounded out a whole host of targets, so it's no surprise. Scott Dann, on the other hand, is a very realistic target.
Marsdinho Posted 11 June, 2012 Share Posted 11 June, 2012 Is it everyone's assumption that Jose and Jos will be our starting central defenders, and all we are looking for in that area is cover. If so, I would assume that there is no point getting a young *****ested at prem level) lad in as that is what we had in the form of Aaron Martin, and instead go for a slightly younger / fitter version of Radhi who can slot in and cover for the odd game here and there, and maybe the cup games. If so, I reckon someone like Kyrgiakos would fit the bill. Obviously not everyone's cup of tea, so if not him, then someone 6' plus, 30 years plus, built like a brick shathouse, top league experience (either prem, La liga, Serie A, bundesleague etc) Thoughts. I don't think we need to sign players as cover, we need to sign ones who are as good or better than our current ones. They all need to be competing for a place and not here just to warm the bench. Crazy Diamond Posted 12 June, 2012 Share Posted 12 June, 2012 would have to pay mega wages for that one if we ever had a sniff And yet West Ham want him plus Krasic http://www.football-italia.net/19893/west-ham-manager-meets-juventus "Sam Allardyce was spotted meeting with Juventus directors today, suggesting West Ham want to sign Eljero Elia and Milos Krasic. The Hammers manager was caught on camera by Sky Sport Italia today shaking hands and discussing matters with Juve director Fabio Paratici. It is reported they discussed the future of want-away wingers Krasic and Elia, who struggled to get playing time in the Scudetto-winning campaign. Krasic is a Serbian international who had a strong start to his Serie A career before injuries and a change in tactics took their toll. Elia is a 25-year-old Dutch international who was signed last summer from Hamburger SV. Despite putting pen to paper on a four-year contract, he handed in a transfer request this week due to lack of playing time."
