Summer 2012 HCDAJFU Thread - Premier League Special Edition

Craig Gordon has left Sunderland. HCDAJFU.

He has been plagued with serious injury and has struggled to keep a place. Of course there MIGHT be a plan to allow Davis to play while he recouperates his injurys as no.2 given that he's on a free, but I would be surprised if we took the risk TBH.

I was looking at the 2005 team what got relegated, trying to figure out how the current team compares. We had Crouch, Phillips and Camara for strikers FFS! Much as I love the current gang you'd be hard pushed to argue that Lambert, Sharp and Lee is betters!

Midfield was pretty sh!te though, back then. I couldn't figure at all who was playing left midfield - was we sticking Anders out there?

I was more pointing toward the Pieenar and Johnson. Absolutely ridiculous to think we'd have any chance of signing them on our first season back in the top flight. And I think Jarvis is a real longshot. Apparently top 10 sides will be in for him, and the sort of prices being chucked around are massive. You think we're going to be signing £7-8m players? And paying £35-40k a week?

In answer to your last question, yes and yes....

Adkins on Radio5 now.. "Lots of work going on behind the scenes. Going to add to the group of players. Great infrastructure..."

Could be some moves imminent then. Doesn't sound like he's going to Liverpool anyway!

Le Saux played there. To be fair the problem when we were relegated wasn't due to our firepower. As you pointed out we had a very good group of strikers at that time and we had no problem scoring goals. The reason we went down was due to a back four of Delap, Davenport, Jacobsson and Bernard.

Abysmal defending that season

We need 2 keepers with Bart leaving. Guess he didn't want to be 3rd choice but that's what we needed him for. For any criticism of him an any poor form, he's 1000 times better than Forecast. Still curious as to his actual level, be interesting to see whether he or Pompey end up lower.

Will be interesting to see if we do bring 2 keepers in. We all know TF is not up to it, but would it not make sense to keep him as the number 3 and just bring in an emergency loan if we get an injury?

I'd rather not even have him training with them! Unless Forecast is specifically used as confidence training for our strikers.

.

well, it does not work like that. the players seem to like him....he is still here

the hysterics about this player is rather daft

Why cant he be sacked if he cant perform his job as he described in his CV, like everybody else in the working world thats what I want to know?

has it ever occurred to you that the club my be content with him being 3rd choice..?

if we are going down the sacking route...we would have to have sacked countless players over the years

Because his contract wouldn't allow for it.

If your CV job description is incorrect you can be sacked whatever the contract say's. Because your CV would have been delivered before the contract, and his is blatantly false so no employment law could defend that sack the blighter.

I'm not even sure he will be 3rd choice. Kelvin Davis + a new keeper will be 1st and 2nd choice. The only other keeper is Chris Johns and he hasn't had a senior game and is very young so wouldn't count if Saints wanted to bring in an emergency keeper on loan at any point during the season (loan window or not it doesn't matter with keepers).

You're just talking gibberish now... while you're words may have some truth in them, you've missed the point and are just waffling now. His CV says he is a goalkeeper. He is a goalkeeper. He's just a **** one who stands no chance of playing competitive football at a high level. Saints won't be sacking him because of a lie on a CV they accepted years ago. They could buy him out of his contract, but he could just say no thanks and would be entitled to do so.

In the footballing world, you don't really have CVs as we know them. Trials and scout reports are given much more credence.

I'd even wager that in the vast majority of football transfers, a CV is never even mentioned.

You think the club are happy to have a third choice keeper who was awful when sent out on loan to the likes of Eastbourne whilst in the prem? So happy in fact that he has never played a single minute of 1st team football in 4 yars? Why dont you just stop automatically disagreeing with a majority held opinions cos it only serves to make you sound like a right wally at times

what the hell has that got to do with a football contract..?

I will put my MLG head on for you then.

If your Credentials / CV do not state correctly your competence / qualifications for the position that you are applying for then you can be dismissed forthwith.

In this case it may not be relevant as Southampton took him as a makeweight so he probably never presented any credentials or even training certificates so makes it all a bit of a moot point.

But I still think we should sack him for being useless IMHO

You might as well just copy and paste that as your response to every post really.

there is because..there is so much nonsense posted lately...

50k stadiums, CL football in the next few years....sacking players for the hell of it...able to attract from a crowd of 1m people...

"Training certificates", "CV's" and "presenting credentials" what are you talking about? He is a footballer (in theory) not an office temp.

Are you aware of the Football Creditors rule which states all football creditors have to be paid in full? Saints can't just sack him on the spot for being rubbish.

You have a bit of a problem with the idea of 50k stadiums, CL football don't you?? You keep banging on about it - that's the second time today that you have brought it up in completely unrelated threads.

For your sake it had better not happen, I doubt if you would be able to cope.

He's only 21' date=' he has time to work on his finishing. None of our players would have even got into those positions. Who would you rather have in RM?[/quote']

In a perfect world Adam Johnson :p. realistically Matt Jarvis

He's scored more goals than Lallana this year, and his primary role isn't goal scoring. He does well to get into those positions with his skill and pace.

Don't see what all the hype is about to be honest. And your going to score goals if you're part of a three-pronged attack in a very attacking fluid side - well, if you're worth your salt that is.

Matt Phillips has looked decidedly average at finishing

...is exactly the kind of thing someone watching one particular game of his might say.

He is very sharp on the ball, lightning pace and can finish very well. I would love it if we got him. Probably still need an established right sided player ahead of him, but he'd be great in the long term.

Hoping these paul robinson rumours are false cus he is utter tripe.

Go for decent young keeper who KD can take under his wing but already good enough to challenge similar to how shay given and joe hart started out.

What Paul Robinson rumours?
