Saint Fan CaM Posted 19 May, 2012 Share Posted 19 May, 2012 Craig Gordon has left Sunderland. HCDAJFU. He has been plagued with serious injury and has struggled to keep a place. Of course there MIGHT be a plan to allow Davis to play while he recouperates his injurys as no.2 given that he's on a free, but I would be surprised if we took the risk TBH. Bearsy Posted 19 May, 2012 Share Posted 19 May, 2012 I was looking at the 2005 team what got relegated, trying to figure out how the current team compares. We had Crouch, Phillips and Camara for strikers FFS! Much as I love the current gang you'd be hard pushed to argue that Lambert, Sharp and Lee is betters! Midfield was pretty sh!te though, back then. I couldn't figure at all who was playing left midfield - was we sticking Anders out there?

Avenue Saint Posted 19 May, 2012 Share Posted 19 May, 2012 I was more pointing toward the Pieenar and Johnson. Absolutely ridiculous to think we'd have any chance of signing them on our first season back in the top flight. And I think Jarvis is a real longshot. Apparently top 10 sides will be in for him, and the sort of prices being chucked around are massive. You think we're going to be signing £7-8m players? And paying £35-40k a week? In answer to your last question, yes and yes....

toofarnorth Posted 19 May, 2012 Share Posted 19 May, 2012 Craig Gordon yes please. May have lost a bit of form over the last couple of years, but would be great competition for Kelvin. Absolutely. He really is quality and surely the worst of his injuries must be behind him. Verbal Kint Posted 19 May, 2012 Share Posted 19 May, 2012 (edited) I was looking at the 2005 team what got relegated, trying to figure out how the current team compares. Le Saux played there. To be fair the problem when we were relegated wasn't due to our firepower. As you pointed out we had a very good group of strikers at that time and we had no problem scoring goals. The reason we went down was due to a back four of Delap, Davenport, Jacobsson and Bernard. Abysmal defending that season Edited 19 May, 2012 by Verbal Kint
Brussels Saint Posted 19 May, 2012 Share Posted 19 May, 2012 We need 2 keepers with Bart leaving. Guess he didn't want to be 3rd choice but that's what we needed him for. For any criticism of him an any poor form, he's 1000 times better than Forecast. Still curious as to his actual level, be interesting to see whether he or Pompey end up lower. Will be interesting to see if we do bring 2 keepers in. We all know TF is not up to it, but would it not make sense to keep him as the number 3 and just bring in an emergency loan if we get an injury? Thedelldays Posted 19 May, 2012 Share Posted 19 May, 2012 I'd rather not even have him training with them! Matthew Le God Posted 19 May, 2012 Share Posted 19 May, 2012 The club my be content with Forecast being 3rd choice. I'm not even sure he will be 3rd choice. Kelvin Davis + a new keeper will be 1st and 2nd choice. The only other keeper is Chris Johns and he hasn't had a senior game and is very young so wouldn't count if Saints wanted to bring in an emergency keeper on loan at any point during the season (loan window or not it doesn't matter with keepers). You're just talking gibberish now... while you're words may have some truth in them, you've missed the point and are just waffling now. His CV says he is a goalkeeper. He is a goalkeeper. He's just a **** one who stands no chance of playing competitive football at a high level. Saints won't be sacking him because of a lie on a CV they accepted years ago. They could buy him out of his contract, but he could just say no thanks and would be entitled to do so.

In the footballing world, you don't really have CVs as we know them. Trials and scout reports are given much more credence. I'd even wager that in the vast majority of football transfers, a CV is never even mentioned.

PhilippineSaint Posted 19 May, 2012 Share Posted 19 May, 2012 what the hell has that got to do with a football contract..? I will put my MLG head on for you then. If your Credentials / CV do not state correctly your competence / qualifications for the position that you are applying for then you can be dismissed forthwith. In this case it may not be relevant as Southampton took him as a makeweight so he probably never presented any credentials or even training certificates so makes it all a bit of a moot point. But I still think we should sack him for being useless IMHO

mitch01 Posted 19 May, 2012 Share Posted 19 May, 2012 Matt Phillips has looked decidedly average at finishing ...is exactly the kind of thing someone watching one particular game of his might say.
