Matthew Le God Posted 10 May, 2012 Share Posted 10 May, 2012 Thought Mutch was distinctly average last night - Struggled for long periods to have any influence on the match at all and particularly boosed around by Ferguson. Redmond is certainly a live wire and injected great energy and pace into Brum's game and undoubtedly contributed to their fightback. However, neither of them would add a great deal to us in the Prem at this stage (although Redmond has potential). Redmond is 18 years old and Mutch is 20 years old, I think they both have a great deal of potential to improve considering their ages.

MOSaint Posted 10 May, 2012 Share Posted 10 May, 2012 Harsh to judge Mutch and Redmond on one performance, especially one that comes at the end of a 60 odd game campaign for Birmingham.
Itchen_block4 Posted 10 May, 2012 Share Posted 10 May, 2012 I hope you are right. Stand out player of his type in the league. Caused no end of problems to fullbacks all season including our own. Doesn't feel like an Adkins signing, but I hope he is. Very exciting player to watch with tricks, pace and strength. Zaha is all tricks and no end product. I'd rather we didn't sign him. pingwing Posted 10 May, 2012 Share Posted 10 May, 2012 No Zaha NEVER! Just pace and step overs, was really average both times we played palace and should be left to for another prem team to pay over the odds for. Same for Danny Simpson, just money grabbing. Mutch is supposed to be someone to look out for in the future and Redmond will have a lot of people after him (being quick). Bailey Posted 10 May, 2012 Share Posted 10 May, 2012 I've heard we've made an enquiry for Lee Camp. Forest apparently willing to let him go too. Don't suppose you've heard anything have you Patred? Would be a good option IMO and he would certainly push Kelvin for the number 1 jersey. We'll see, but I'd be happy if it happens.

beavis17 Posted 10 May, 2012 Share Posted 10 May, 2012 My over-riding memories of him from this season are when he let Morgan's shot squirm through his grasp in the 3-0 win and when he gave away a silly penalty at home to Bristol City. Matthew Le God Posted 10 May, 2012 Share Posted 10 May, 2012 David James Really? Not exactly a long term prospect at 41 years old, his Skate connections don't help him, plus he wants to live in the West Country and struggled to get into a poor Bristol City side at the end of the season due to a lack of form. Might see him end up at Exeter City, Torquay, Bristol Rovers or Plymouth on low wages.

S-Clarke Posted 10 May, 2012 Share Posted 10 May, 2012 I do think it's very short sighted to come to the conclusion that a player is not good enough, based on 1 or 2 games you may have seen in the past. In the same way it's also short sighted to say a player is a world beater, just based on 1 or 2 games we've watched. At the end of the day the scouts are in the best position to judge, as they've watched the players many more times than any of us and will have a better all-round picture of the player. So if we do sign Lee Camp, you can be assured that some thorough scouting has gone into it before we even contemplate a bid.

Ah thought he had a year left.... if free he can name his price. Which we would not pay. Nidger Posted 10 May, 2012 Share Posted 10 May, 2012 Delivery is vital in any league, that doesn't mean you should find a place for a player that isn't otherwise good enough for the team. I don#t think we'll ever agree on Peter Whittingham tbh! I don't see you offering up any alternatives other than agreeing with my suggestion of Matt Phillips thou! Have u got any suggestions to put forward? Who knows, we might agree on some of them!

Nidger Posted 10 May, 2012 Share Posted 10 May, 2012 Why do you need alternatives? An opinion of Whittingham is valid without alternatives. I'd rather use players we already have for a start! If we're talking about wingers, and I admit I have zero idea what realistic means given my lack of knowledge on our finances etc., then maybe Pederson, Phillips, Eagles, Jarvis, De Bruyne, Olsson, Weiss, Redmond, Zaha, Albrighton. I just wanted to hear which players you rated, that was all. You don't rate Whittingham, and that is your opinion which I respect. I think De Bruyne is an interesting suggestion and I can see a possible season long loan from Chelsea being a possibility. I thought Chris Eagles would go on to be another player to graduate from the Man Utd academy in to their 1st team but it didn't work out. I think his form for Bolton this year has been a bit hit and miss but I still think he is a good player. Redmond looked very lively and direct last night but Birmingham rate him in a similar bracket to AOC so I think he could cost a lot of money! Zaha is another quick young player with a trick, but his tendency to lose his rag when things aren't going his way would be a concern for me. Which other areas of the team do you believe we need to strengthen?
