krissyboy31 Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 We have entered the best football league in the world. We need world class players. Too many supporters don't realise just how tough the Premier League is, just how much a team has to be ready for every scenario, cover for injury after injury. There will be no excuses. We have to be prepared. This is why so many have Saints done for relegation strugglers Without the class cover in all positions we will and the clock is ticking towards the kick off, the closure of the transfer window. Our biggst enemies will be injuries, players involved in international games, and incapacity to change our formation and play. World class players will not sign for a newly promoted provincial team, doesn't matter how ambitious and wealthy that club is.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 world class players will not sign for a newly promoted provincial team, doesn't matter how ambitious and wealthy that club is. qpr?
Matthew Le God Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 qpr? You think QPR are a provincial team with world class players? Wrong on both counts.
Turkish Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 You think QPR are a provincial team with world class players? Wrong on both counts. Ji Sung Park has got a champions league winners medal, 4 title medals and 100 international caps.
Matthew Le God Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 (edited) Ji Sung Park has got a champions league winners medal, 4 title medals and 100 international caps. 1) Plural - players. 2) How can QPR possibly be described as "provincial", they are in West London ffs!? krissyboy31 Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Ji Sung Park has got a champions league winners medal, 4 title medals and 100 international caps. This is true and he's a quality player but world class? He also didn't join them last season, when they were newly promoted. I would suggest, if we stay up this season our choice of player will be much bigger.
Turkish Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 1) Plural - players. 2) How can QPR possibly be described as "provincial", they are in West London ffs!? What's to say they won't sign more? They've never had the ambition and resources they have available to them now.
Turkish Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Cisse, SWP!! Dont slag of QPR ffs Hoilett, Kieran Dyer!
Glasgow_Saint Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Hoilett, Kieran Dyer! The list goes on......
krissyboy31 Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Hoilett, Kieran Dyer! You forgot Joey Barton!
Matthew Le God Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 What's to say they won't sign more? They've never had the ambition and resources they have available to them now. Please explain how West London has suddenly become the provinces...?
Thedelldays Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Please explain how West London has suddenly become the provinces...? Does it matter?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Please explain how West London has suddenly become the provinces...? What do you mean?
beatlesaint Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Please explain how West London has suddenly become the provinces...? yeah exactly, please do !
Matthew Le God Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 What do you mean? The question to which you gave the answer "QPR", was about provincial clubs with world class players. QPR are one of the last clubs you could possibly call "provincial". They are close to the richest part of the nations capital city. Not in any way provincial.
ART Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 For a few weeks I'll a hunch that future signings hinge on Celtic failing to qualify for the Champions League. Whether this happenings before the current Transfer Window shuts leaves me uneasy if this is the case. It's kind of like putting all one's eggs into the same basket. Definitely for me, Celtic very much features in Adkins aspirations for the coming season. Just hope we don't need to wait till th January Transfer Window
Glasgow_Saint Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Do you want me to infract him Glasgow? Ban him

QPR are one of the last clubs you could possibly call "provincial". They are close to the richest part of the nations capital city. Not in any way provincial. Nor are Brentford, AFC Wimbledon, Dagenham, Leyton Orient, Barnet- are you saying that if they bought world class players, you wouldnt be surprised as they aren't provincial? You're the one who was arguing that QPR couldnt fill it's 18,000 stadium a few weeks ago, surely a better proxy of its stature and punching power in the transfer market which I guess is what you're tying yourself in knots over.
Turkish Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Please explain how West London has suddenly become the provinces...? I didn't say it had.
DG Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Peter White @peterwhite_1 Saints have made £6m bid for Phillips. Official bid, told you first #saintsfc
smackalec Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 @SimonPeach: I know its late but I have some #SaintsFC transfer news. Will post shortly.
hypochondriac Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Peter White @peterwhite_1Saints have made £6m bid for Phillips. Official bid, told you first #saintsfcPleasing that we may get a transfer in but that is a ridiculous amount of money for Philips IMO.
S-Clarke Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 £6m is a tad too much for Phillips, but it's the going rate for English players. I think he's class though, another potential international. I actually doubt it's £6m, probably a £6m package with something like 2-5m-3m up front and the rest on apps, survival, internationals etc.
Ex Lion Tamer Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Cue criticism that he was in the Championship team of the year so not good enough

I still think 6 million would be too much for someone that is still mostly potential. I really want a CB though...
S-Clarke Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Which wouldn't be so bad. I still think 6 million would be too much for someone that is still mostly potential. I really want a CB though... Well this is 1 down (if true...) and 2 to go. Still reckon we'll get that lad from Rennes.
Matthew Le God Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 I think he's class though, another potential international. Already capped for Scotland vs USA and was in their squad tonight vs Australia.
S-Clarke Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Already capped for Scotland vs USA and was in their squad tonight vs Australia. Ok, well a full international already then!
MOSaint Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 6m wouldn't be a shock for Phillips. Blackpool did pretty well financially off of their PL season and don't need to sell so anyone wanting one of their best players is going to have to cough up.
hypochondriac Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Well this is 1 down (if true...) and 2 to go.Still reckon we'll get that lad from Rennes.I reckon we could still get a LB as well.
S-Clarke Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 2 new enquries made in the last 2 days for players according to Nixon, one has the potential to be a ''goodie''. More on sunday... Alan Nixon @reluctantnicko @shirleymush Saving back for Sunday People. If it develops it would be a goodie.
MOSaint Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 I take it Cortese is back from his holiday then.
RonManager Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Simon Peach @SimonPeach #SaintsFC have made their interest in Blackpool's Matt Phillips official today by placing a £6million bid.
S-Clarke Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 I take it Cortese is back from his holiday then. Today, apparently. So no surprise it's ramped up.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Hoorah! Movement! Have we gone too high too soon with the Phillips bid though?
S-Clarke Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Hoorah! Movement! Have we gone too high too soon with the Phillips bid though? Would imagine both clubs have been talking for days (since the illegal approach came out) Maybe this is the agreement we've come to.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Would imagine both clubs have been talking for days (since the illegal approach came out) Maybe this is the agreement we've come to. Good point, let's hope so. You'd imagine we're aware that Phillips would come to us and what his wage demands would be too.
SB Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Yay. Cortese will need a few doppio expressos within the next 24 hours..
Ex Lion Tamer Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Hoorah! Movement! Have we gone too high too soon with the Phillips bid though? Don't you know we're in a big rush to get players in before the City game?
S-Clarke Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Good point' date=' let's hope so. You'd imagine we're aware that Phillips would come to us and what his wage demands would be too.[/quote'] Found it quite interesting that NA actually stated our interest on Saturday, he doesn't usually do that. So there's obviously been real intent from our side to sort it. I guess that's what Blackpool didn't like, we may have sounded out his agent with regards to what his wage demands would be before submitting a bid.
BlakeySFC Posted 15 August, 2012 Posted 15 August, 2012 Fee agreed according to @Saint_Elvis on twitter. His words: 'Those asking source etc. agent of player, deal should be sealed by friday midday.' This isn't a known twitter bulls**tter so there may be some legs in this...
Glasgow_Saint Posted 16 August, 2012 Posted 16 August, 2012 Bid is probably 3.5-4m upfront with 2m in add ons

St.Patrik Posted 16 August, 2012 Posted 16 August, 2012 Shame that this Nixon bloke hasn´t been right once this summer regarding signings....
