Tottenham are ready to send Team GB starlet Danny Rose out on loan – and Wigan and Southampton are battling for his signature.

New Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has told the versatile left-back/midfielder that he must join another club if he wants first-team Premier League action this season.

The 22-year-old is *interesting the Latics, who fear losing defender Maynor Figueroa.

Southampton have also made an inquiry as they prepare for a return to the top flight.

They will take Rose on loan if they fail to land any of the alternatives they are trying to land on permanent deals.

Rose has managed only eight league starts in five years at Tottenham, who have already loaned him out to Watford, Peterborough and Bristol City.

The highlighted text makes no sense from Nixon, who has insisted absolutely nothing has been going on re: transfers, yet now he writes an article on Danny Rose painting him as somewhat of a last resort as we are after other LBs on permanent deals.

Fair point. I shall ask.

Nixon says he was only made aware of our Rose interest today.

He says we've made an enquiry for Martin Olsson and the Buttner deal has a snag (obviously). He says "If only someone could make a decision"

Interesting that he suggests that the decision maker is unavailable. I wonder why that is...

Even though some people hang on his every word and live their life by him, Nixon is pretty clueless. People using him in their arguments is laughable and quite pathetic.

How do you get to that? Got the Jay Rod deal, Clyne deal, Sharp deal. Very much ITK with various contacts esp. up north.

Other deals, Kightly to Stoke (reported 31 July, moved 8th August) Afobe to Bolton (reported 29th July, moved 3rd August). others - James Collins to West Ham (31st July) Ramis to Wigan (31st July) = just to name a few.

Didn't do so well in predicting that one then ;)

Yep. Not sre why anyone would call him clueless.

Yeah you're the sad act who hangs on his every word, Nixon said this so it has to be true!

Nixon is the only person to mention the players linked to us before they sign is he? And he's never mentioned players that we never signed has he? Some of you geeks need to take your tongues out of his ass and stop hanging on his every word!

Personally don't rate Rose from the little I've seen of him but he has pace, and if we want him we clearly want more pace at full back. Not sure he is overall any better than Fox though.

Obviously a this is only an enquiry, seems sure we want a left sided player though.

I don't rate him at all. So much so that I think that given that his U21 and Olympics appearances are behind him, I reckon he'll be playing Championship football within 2 years. He hasn't got anywhere near Tottenham's first team and (13 first team games in 5 years) and, now 22, really doesn't have many games under him at all (and most of them at Championship level).

Genuinely think he is. Can't honestly think of any other journalist who has broken a correct Saints transfer story before it happens apart from Nixon.

And yes he has mentioned players we haven't signed (Hooper) so he isn't perfect we know that but still extremely reliable.

You have just completely invented that. It is entirely in your own head. You are making yourself look ridiculous. I pity you.

To be fair, we're in a better position than most to wait to bring new players in, in that we are unlikely to win 3 of our first 4 games regardless of who we sign! We can effectively write them off -as we would if they were spread over the season- and bed in new players in time for the first realistic run in. Obviously this does not mean we won't try to win the games, but let's face it any points at City and Arsenal away and United at home would be a bonus.

Anything in the Benfica rumours? Is Fabio nailed on for a starting position at LB while your interest in Richardson/Heinze could mean Traore is surplus to requirements?

Fabio should be the RB and Traore the LB.

I think/hope the Richardson/Heinze rumours were agents making noise and we only seem to be looking at CBs in defence.

IMO Zaha over Etherington. Reckon he has the pace and attacking versatility that can suit us but think Palace want a ludicrous price for him, afterall he didn't get many goals really last season.

Doesn't have as good an end product though.

To be quite honest, I think we should give Puncheon a proper try at right mid. There is no denying that if he gets his head right then he is Prem quality.

It's the lack of CB I am really worrying about.

I've struggled to see what the big deal is with Zaha. If he wasn't English, and there are those that might say he isn't anyway, there wouldn't be as much fuss about him, nor such a stupid price tag. I think that's for certain.

As far as price I agree, but the lad has raw talent, he will be a player IMO.

I think you're both right and wrong on this. On the one hand I think he should be given a chance, I've always thought he had potential (got nothing against strengthening in his position as well tho). However, I don't believe that he's prem quality without a doubt. I saw him play a few times for Blackpool and thought he was distinctly poor each time. While we're in the prem I imagine we'll be safe from his tantrums as he's where he wants to be and hopefully he'll step up to the plate. There will always be niggling doubts about his commitment though.

At one time I agreed. I've always felt he lacked an end product, much the same as Moses in many respects. I know a lot of Palace fans though and all of the ones I've talked to rate Zaha as a better prospect.

I thought Moses improved a lot in the last half of last season. Looks like Chelsea did too. On balance taking into account the opinions of those who've watched them both much more than me I think Zaha would be worth a punt.

Same as. I know a few Palace fans and they say that while Moses is the better player right now, Zaha has much more improvement in him and will become the better player.

How can you judge whether someone has improvement in them though? Because they have room to get better at stuff? Doesn't mean they ever will.

Fwiw I'd love to see us sign Zaha.

Imagine a comparison, if you will. It's not too hard to imagine. Theo and AOC, just before AOC went to Arsenal.

If someone said to you "will AOC be better or worse than Theo", what would you say? Would you say "you know what, i have no idea how to judge how much improvement he has? I can't possibly make such a judgement".

Would you say that?
