SuperSAINT Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Wonder if that's more of a case of a move out, rather than in? Nixon says IN
S-Clarke Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Ah ok, cue the histericks that we have no money for a permanent signing.
Thedelldays Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Ah ok, cue the histericks that we have no money for a permanent signing. I thought everything had ground to a halt as NC had buggered off on holiday and left a rudderless ship...?
hypochondriac Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 I thought everything had ground to a halt as NC had buggered off on holiday and left a rudderless ship...? But nothing close as yet. Would need upstairs approval I would imagine ... ...
itchen_dan Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 We can rule out an Interenational incoming. Nixon says he is Domestic based and is a player who be a Starter.
SuperSAINT Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 We can rule out an Interenational incoming. Nixon says he is Domestic based and is a player who be a Starter. Young player then? Shame De Bruyne's been snapped up.
itchen_dan Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Just looked back through Nixon's timeline and he tweeted 4 hours ago (3pm ish) reluctantnicko: @chrisnicholls19 Not a word. Poss left back loan cropped up. But not concrete move yet. So it's a left back he is on about.
hypochondriac Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Just looked back through Nixon's timeline and he tweeted 4 hours ago (3pm ish) So it's a left back he is on about. Right so a domestic player and a left back. Most likely to be from one of the big clubs and a youngster. Any suggestions?
itchen_dan Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Ryan Bertrand? Davide Santon? Stephen Warnock?
S-Clarke Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 ummm....Bertrand? Maybe Chelsea want him to have regular games all season.
SuperSAINT Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Right so a domestic player and a left back. Most likely to be from one of the big clubs and a youngster. Any suggestions? My 1st reaction was Bertrand, but thought he might be closer to the Chelsea 1st team after playing in the Champs league final.... I then thought Naughton @ Spurs, but I thought he was right-sided.
hypochondriac Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Ryan Bertrand? Davide Santon? Stephen Warnock? Lol.
S-Clarke Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Ryan Bertrand? Davide Santon? Stephen Warnock? Wouldn't be Santon or Warnock, the only one I can think of it being is Bertand. Young, english, better than what we have.
Nexstar Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Is Gibbs a starter for Arsenal? Don't really know a whole lot about him, besides that he plays LB.
hypochondriac Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Pretty certain it won't be Bertrand. Lets be realistic...
S-Clarke Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Is Gibbs a starter for Arsenal? Don't really know a whole lot about him, besides that he plays LB. Gibbs is another shout, although he's got more of a chance of First team football than Bertrand.
itchen_dan Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Lol. Exactly my reaction even though I posted it. Who else is there out there that could come in on loan at LB, and replace Fox? He'd have to be pretty decent whoever it is.
hypochondriac Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Wouldn't be Santon or Warnock, the only one I can think of it being is Bertand. Young, english, better than what we have. Surely he is in Chelsea's plans?
S-Clarke Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Pretty certain it won't be Bertrand. Lets be realistic... What's unrealistic about it? He won't be a starter at Chelsea as Cole starts when fit (and he's always fit). Chelsea may feel that he needs a full-season in the PL to really start to kick on, that won't happen if he's sat around on a bench all season waiting for Cole to be injured. Gibbs would be unrealistic as he's already first team at Arsenal.
MOSaint Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Gibbs has a horrendous injury record. Bertrand would be a good loan.
S-Clarke Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Surely he is in Chelsea's plans? Long-term I'd imagine, but he needs games. A season on loan here harms no one.
hypochondriac Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Well I would be very surprised if it was Bertrand (and pleased.)
SuperSAINT Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Well I would be very surprised if it was Bertrand (and pleased.) *Conspiracy Alert* They give us Bertrand in exchange for 1st refusal for Luke Shaw should we ever wish to sell.
S-Clarke Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Armand Traore - kind of domestic... He's pretty bad though tbf.
SuperSAINT Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 He's pretty bad though tbf. What happened to him? He was really promising at Arsenal back in the day....
The Kraken Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 What's unrealistic about it? He won't be a starter at Chelsea as Cole starts when fit (and he's always fit). Chelsea may feel that he needs a full-season in the PL to really start to kick on, that won't happen if he's sat around on a bench all season waiting for Cole to be injured. Gibbs would be unrealistic as he's already first team at Arsenal. Not necessarily. Bertrand started the Champions League final with Ashley Cole, so di Matteo may see an alternative role for him. Chelsea don't have another left sided defender so they have no proper backup for cole without Bertrand. Can't see him going anywhere, particularly as Cole is not getting any younger and indeed may need to be rested against the lesser teams and for cup games.
S-Clarke Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 What happened to him? He was really promising at Arsenal back in the day.... He went to Portsmouth on loan, and that was the start of the end.
Saint Garrett Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Olsson? loan for a season, and go back to Blackburn if they go back up ?
S-Clarke Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Olsson? loan for a season, and go back to Blackburn if they go back up ? That's an interesting shout, with a guaranteed transfer fee in it. It would be like a permanent transfer, delayed by a year. I know WBA did that alot when they were relegated (brum did the same last year with Foster), they didn't sell their high earners...the loaned them out for the season and then made more profit the next year (IIRC....?) may be barking up the wrong tree.
MOSaint Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 What about Ezekiel Fryers? very highly rated at United, can play both CB and LB.
SuperSAINT Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 What about Ezekiel Fryers? very highly rated at United, can play both CB and LB. Certainly more likely if they can get Baines to challenge Evra.
itchen_dan Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Certainly more likely if they can get Baines to challenge Evra. Doubt it as Nixon says the signing would be a starter for the team. Cant see an untried and untested 19 year old displacing Fox. This makes Bertrand more likely as he is a similar age but in a different league experience and quality wise.
Flyer Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 What happened to him? He was really promising at Arsenal back in the day.... He did really well last season, especially when moved to LW but will probably play LB this season.
shurlock Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 He did really well last season, especially when moved to LW but will probably play LB this season. Anything in the Benfica rumours? Is Fabio nailed on for a starting position at LB while your interest in Richardson/Heinze could mean Traore is surplus to requirements?
Saint86 Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 We r linked with Shaw Ross quite heavily at the moment. Rumours abound for the last few days and accelerated since stoke signed that new chap
Glasgow_Saint Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Shawcross - bless the tablet x Stoke captain......not likely
SNSUN Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Transfers that should never happen: Number 1 - Tal Ben Haim to Saints. Commence hilarious posts...
SuperMikey Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Thinking of left backs that could go on loan - Danny Rose? Plays better on the wing but has been switched to a full-back recently. Could fill 2 positions and is a good, young British player which fits our transfer policy too - even if it would only be a loan.
Saint Scott Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11735/7976764/Trotter-focused-on-Millwall
SuperMikey Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Shame, Trotter would be a fantastic signing for us.
Hopkins Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Thinking of left backs that could go on loan - Danny Rose? Plays better on the wing but has been switched to a full-back recently. I've spent years slagging him off as a footballer and don't fancy trying to find some good points.
itchen_dan Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Well this will be a let down to some.... The left back we're after is... Danny Rose.
hypochondriac Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Well this will be a let down to some.... The left back we're after is... Danny Rose. According to...
itchen_dan Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 According to... Nixon. Will hopefully be on Mirror site if not in paper.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 Well this will be a let down to some.... The left back we're after is... Danny Rose. Couldnt get in the Bristol City side last season
MOSaint Posted 9 August, 2012 Posted 9 August, 2012 The majority of what I've seen from Rose has been in England u21s so I'd hold back judgement as even the most gifted player tends to look worse when being coached by Stuart Pearce.
