Lighthouse Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Niko Kranjcar - spuds Andriy Yarmolenko - Dynamo Kiev Albert Adomah - Bristol City
Saint_lambden Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 That Van Persie fella's out of contract.....
Crazy Diamond Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Fabio Borini and Marvin Emnes immediately spring to mind, one probably more realistic than the other. Both quality at Swansea who play a similar style to us, Borini is doing a good job back in Italy, Boro might fancy the cash for Emnes.
pingwing Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Curtis Davis David N'Gog? Ben Foster, Fraser Forster or Wayne Hennessey Jack Collisson This Messie bloke could be good Lallana back up Fletcher out of Wolves
Rebel Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Gary Hooper Jay Rodriguez Scott Sutter Lewis Holtby Scott Dann
Crazy Diamond Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Emnes is gash. At Boro he's not looked great, think he even admits that himself, at Swansea, looked like a different player entirely.
S-Clarke Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 We need pace at RB, RM and up top. Maybe a bit of pace at CB too. You can't under estimate how important a bit of pace is in the premier league, not only in the attacking side of the pitch...but also at the back. Having that recovery pace at the back will make me much more comfortable...which is why I think someone like Davies would be a good addition to the back 4, and Clyne @ RB. Both affordable and getable, and we wouldn't need to break the bank to get them.
MOSaint Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Clyne's contract runs out in the Summer, we'd probably have to pay a tribunal fee because of his age but that will be a pittance. Should definitely go in for him, probably be a lot of competition though.
Doctoroncall Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 That Van Persie fella's out of contract..... I think he has one year left.
ozzmeister Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Sigarsson (sp) would be a real statement of intent!
AussieDog Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Is this where the master plan is finally revealed, and will we get the extra 2 years worth of transfer kitty up front seeing as we are 2 years ahead of the 5 year plan? I wonder how much was put aside in the original estimate. I am still of the opinion that the majority of names being mentioned aren't any better than what we already have. Although I would feel very sorry for any players who don't get a chance to prove themselves in the PL....we do have to hit the ground running and nobody is indispensible. My main fear is that we end up with a bloated squad and waste unnecessary funds on wages for players who don't have a hope of getting a game and who block the path for some of the talented youngsters to come through. At least we get an extra 2 subs in the PL, don't we?
Ewell Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 We need to sign players with potential to play at a higher level that are hungry or with something to prove. This is the benchmark that Norwich and Swansea have set. I am sure we won’t be please do not follow the QPR model of throwing cash at a load of premier league has beens who are just in it for the cash. My top 2 targets would be Curtis Davies and Matt Philips.
Saint_Donovan Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Curtis Davis Matt Phillips Gary Hooper Mark Noble Jack Collison Kasper Schmeichel

Totally agree, both have proved that you don't need Premier League experience to be able to hold your own - just a balanced team. We just need to make sure that they fit in with the squad and the ethos that we have.
View From The Top Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 jay rodriguez has one year left so could now be availible? Done deal so I've been told from Burnley. £5m plus one of our midfielders, who isn't Morgan or Cork.

View From The Top Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 I agree with a previous poster that we need a RB, RM & CB as priority, another striker and for me, a keeper. RM = Matt Phillips GK = Gilkes CB = Scott Dann
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 I think Euro 2012 will reveal a few possibilities. But it won't be Gareth Barry.
sentry Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Jerome Thomas from West Brom, one of the most under-rated players in the prem in my opinion. Davis from Blues and a right wing,,, jarvis would be nice, but maybe out of our reach.
egg Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 It's safe to say that we will have never heard of most of the new acquisitions. I think it likely that we will recruit from Holland or Italy rather than Britain. We certainly need an injection of pace and creativity, particularly at the back and down the wings. Nigel's "evolution" of the squad will be quite a bit more than that imo. He and Cortese aren't afraid to upset people and will dump players in a heartbeat. I tool Nigel's "all things come to an end" comment as a clear signal to the playing side rather than himself. Whatever happens, there are exciting times ahead and I think it safe to assume that the investment will be made to ensure that we can be competitive in the prem.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Done deal so I've been told from Burnley. £5m plus one of our midfielders, who isn't Morgan or Cork. Punch maybe?
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Done deal so I've been told from Burnley. £5m plus one of our midfielders, who isn't Morgan or Cork. Chaplow going home maybe? Surely the most realistic one to go?
sotonjoe Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Chaplow going home maybe? Surely the most realistic one to go? More likely than Hammond imo who seems to be putting down more roots here.
farawaysaint Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Vicente anyone? I know he's made of glass but the reason he's playing for Brighton is he wanted a foot in the door of English football and he might take a pay as you play for a prem chance. He's looked a class above in a poor Brighton team and really seems to be the mustard.
Saint Matty 76 Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Kasper Schmeichel Nathaniel Clyne Matt Phillips Jay Rodriguez and/or Gary Hooper Matt Jarvis CB Then 1 or 2 Sigurdsson like signings from the foreign leagues. GK - Schmeichel, Davis, Bialkowski LB - Fox, NEW, Harding, Shaw? CB - Hooiveld, NEW, Fonte, Martin RB - Clyne, Richardson, Butterfield RM - Phillips, Guly, De Ridder, Chaplow CM - Cork, Schneiderlin, NEW, Hammond LM - Lallana, Jarvis, Puncheon ST - Lambert, Hooper, Rodriguez, Lee, Sharp Out - Barnard, Jaidi, Forte, Connolly, Dickson, Holmes, Seaborne, Forecast
Saint Stimp Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Craig Gordon & Danny Guthrie are out of contract.

I'm of the '2 players in each possition' camp, by which I mean 2 senior, experienced players who can be relied on to do a job. There's no point having back up if they spend half the season in the physio room. My perfect squad would be: GK: Davis, NEW, Bart (loan out) RB: Clyne, Richardson CB: Hooiveld, C. Davies, Fonte, Martin LB: Fox, NEW RM: Adomah/Jarvis, De Ridder, Chaplow CM: Cork, Morgan, Kranjcar, NEW LM: Lallana, Yarmolenko ST: Lambert, Lee, Sharp, Rodriguez I make that 24 players and I think the 25th would probably be Barnard or Guly. Obviously the midfield is quite a fluid area with many of the able to play a variety of possitions. As I said, that's what I'd do. Nigel knows his squad far, far better and no doubt there will be a fair few differences between this squad and the one we go to the Emirates with in August.
georgeweahscousin Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 I would get Jarvis from Wolves and Dann from Blackburn for a start.
Crazy Diamond Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 I would get Jarvis from Wolves and Dann from Blackburn for a start. Am yet to understand the hype around Jarvis. One England cap, which these days proves sod all, though a Wolves fan told me last night he's had a good second half to the season and yes, I do realise he scored twice yesterday.

James Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Jarvis would be quality for wide right. Jordan Mutch or Peter Whittingham would add to CM (depending on who stays down) Would like a new keeper to start as back up to kelv. Either schmiechel or Craig Gordon would be fantastic although perhaps unrealistic. Need to strengthen the defence a bit, but not sure on who...maybe curtis Davies and clyne from palace. Another goal scorer would be nice, hooper an obvious choice but not sure he is proven.

View From The Top Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 What we don't want to do is sign Billy Big Bol loxs & Carlos Kickaball. Team ethic has been brilliant for 2 seasons and don't want that ruined.
Bearsy Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 What's Lansbury's situatiuon? I spose he's going back to Arsenal but I don't know if he's much in their plans. Strikes me as a player who'd fit in with our style of play and what-not.
SNSUN Posted 29 April, 2012 Posted 29 April, 2012 Michael Owen has been bigging us up following our promotion. I reckon he's touting himself for a move south...
