Spades Posted 28 April, 2012 Share Posted 28 April, 2012 Im probably (hopefully) extremely wrong, and i know il be abused for mentioning it on the evening of our promotion party... but watching Nigels interview on saints player, without promt he starts talking about 'good things coming to an end, and how it will be a sad day when he leaves, and that he hopes its done in the right way' Correct me if im wrong, but surely a premier league promotion winning manager shouldn't be talking about that stuff?mwhy the bloody hell is he? StUrrock Posted 28 April, 2012 Share Posted 28 April, 2012 There's definitely something in it. On the bright side I guess it says a lot for the club's ambition that our best manager in years might not make the grade ... I hope Nigel gets the chance but fear that sooner rather than later we may be getting a name manager to persuade the best players to come here. Leslie Charteris Posted 28 April, 2012 Share Posted 28 April, 2012 I think he had just realised what a task he'll have keeping his win percentage up next season. He has, as he said, a long term contract, but perhaps there is a clause in it which NC can use to get him out if the percentage drops below a given level. Frank's cousin Posted 28 April, 2012 Share Posted 28 April, 2012 We can speculate all we like... it could be that Adkins was given teh job of getting us up ... and he's doesn't earier than expected, and that there was always the intention of some change... but I dont think thats the case and certainly believe it would be a huge mistake to make a change now... either that or the Don expected the title so second is failure and the horse's head:scared:

Crab Lungs Posted 28 April, 2012 Share Posted 28 April, 2012 I've just watched and listened to all the Adkins interviews from today. He's very emotional and this is perhaps one of the very few times he's cracked, especially in the BBC one. He gives no indication there, neither does he mention anything on Solent. It's only on SaintsPlayer where he mentions that things always come to an end etc. I'm not sure if it means anything, tbh. That said, I'm bloody praying he's here for the long-term and there is nothing in it.

Frank's cousin Posted 28 April, 2012 Share Posted 28 April, 2012 ... let be honest, its not as if we have won anything - If its not all hugs and massive grins from NC, its because for him this is only a step in the plan... its teh beginning not the end. Saint Without a Halo Posted 28 April, 2012 Share Posted 28 April, 2012 OK so moaning that we might blow it and not go up is no longer possible, so lets start to worry about something else! Nigel confirmed it is not his intention to go anywhere for a few years and that we must keep winning to keep his job (nothing new there this is football) Now enjoy the day promotions like this do not come every day (trust me I know in over 40 years supporting the Saints) so enjoy it while it is here and now! I wondered the same thing, also something between Cortese and Adkins didnt look right. Didnt post because could imagine my thoughts being taken the wrong way. Interesting that a few other people noticed it. Sincerely hope there is not a problem as Adkins is a brilliant manager and would really hate to see him go. When he said if he went he hoped it would be done in the right way he wasnt talking about himself as he knows he would leave in the right way. It sounded a bit like a marker to Cortese..... strange

Crazy Diamond Posted 28 April, 2012 Share Posted 28 April, 2012 I don't want to put a dampener on today but yeah I did find it strange too, but I've seen three or four interviews with him today and they were all quite different, so I suppose the emotion got to him, as has been said earlier. BBC was obvious emotion, Sky was then back to normal, SaintsPlayer and Solent (same thing) he was quite reserved, spoke of his long term contract! The handshake? Yes, it could have looked better, but maybe Nige is tired. I think I would be after a season like this!
