Adkins off?

Im probably (hopefully) extremely wrong, and i know il be abused for mentioning it on the evening of our promotion party... but watching Nigels interview on saints player, without promt he starts talking about 'good things coming to an end, and how it will be a sad day when he leaves, and that he hopes its done in the right way'

Correct me if im wrong, but surely a premier league promotion winning manager shouldn't be talking about that stuff?mwhy the bloody hell is he?

With 2 promotions in 2 seasons, the man is an absolute hero. Smeone reassure me im reading into this the wrong way?

I can reassure you that you are reading into this the wrong way. O.K?

There's definitely something in it. On the bright side I guess it says a lot for the club's ambition that our best manager in years might not make the grade ... I hope Nigel gets the chance but fear that sooner rather than later we may be getting a name manager to persuade the best players to come here.

agree - was a weird thing to say in the context of what he'd just achieved. also the handshake between him and NC looked fairly cold. But i hope to hell he's given a chance next season.

We can speculate all we like... it could be that Adkins was given teh job of getting us up ... and he's doesn't earier than expected, and that there was always the intention of some change... but I dont think thats the case and certainly believe it would be a huge mistake to make a change now... either that or the Don expected the title so second is failure and the horse's head:scared:;)

I've just watched and listened to all the Adkins interviews from today. He's very emotional and this is perhaps one of the very few times he's cracked, especially in the BBC one. He gives no indication there, neither does he mention anything on Solent. It's only on SaintsPlayer where he mentions that things always come to an end etc. I'm not sure if it means anything, tbh.

That said, I'm bloody praying he's here for the long-term and there is nothing in it.

OK so moaning that we might blow it and not go up is no longer possible, so lets start to worry about something else!

Nigel confirmed it is not his intention to go anywhere for a few years and that we must keep winning to keep his job (nothing new there this is football)

Now enjoy the day promotions like this do not come every day (trust me I know in over 40 years supporting the Saints) so enjoy it while it is here and now!

I must admit I saw it that way as well - before reading anything on here.

The handshake was a bit formal compared to all the hugs and backslapping elsewhere and the comments about leaving were ...just amazing - why would you mention it on a day like this?!

The original poster is trying to spoil the day what a ***** . Sorry I have just seen this tread and a little worse for wear . The club is one united family . Nige is not going anywhere

Spoil the day? Your joking? Having supported saints all my life, i am one of Adkins biggest fans, i bloody love the bloke. I just saw his interview and wondered what others thought, no harm in that!

Your clearly the ****** if you need to spend your time celebrating by trying to cause conflict!

I wondered the same thing, also something between Cortese and Adkins didnt look right. Didnt post because could imagine my thoughts being taken the wrong way. Interesting that a few other people noticed it. Sincerely hope there is not a problem as Adkins is a brilliant manager and would really hate to see him go.

When he said if he went he hoped it would be done in the right way he wasnt talking about himself as he knows he would leave in the right way. It sounded a bit like a marker to Cortese..... strange

I don't want to put a dampener on today but yeah I did find it strange too, but I've seen three or four interviews with him today and they were all quite different, so I suppose the emotion got to him, as has been said earlier.

BBC was obvious emotion, Sky was then back to normal, SaintsPlayer and Solent (same thing) he was quite reserved, spoke of his long term contract!

The handshake? Yes, it could have looked better, but maybe Nige is tired. I think I would be after a season like this!

It was a bit odd to talk about "parting of the ways" today and to go on to go through his resume like he did. Sure it's nothing but still odd.
