Who had the flare?

Not you again........to be fair I said the celebrations were fantastic and the flare didn't distract from my enjoyment of the situation. Just thought the guy with the flare was a cock.

Yep. It's me again, the non-moaning one. I've brought some friends.

you mug, you have'nt got a clue. English football is sterile, good effort to the lad with the flare, all he's doing is holding a big firework and celebrating success and all you can do is moan. stev2001, you need to get a life.

There should be more flares

+1, it looked great from itchen north. We need more flares IMO.

nowt wron g with the flare, should be more of that neo euro ultra stuff in my opion

Christ we've got some sappy fans. The flare was good, should be a regular thing.

Worth it to confirm to the masses via the medium of telly box that it is WE who are the bestest fans now.

There's not enough flares nowadays, good stuff.

It looked f*cking class.

The flare added to the celebrations

+1. Loved the flare at the end, wish we saw more of that in English stadia.

We have some utter cocks for fans, get a life you wierdo

is this for real ? FFS!

it looked f ucking class ya numpty

hope to see loads more in the future

loved seeing the flare, topped off a brilliant day for me and showed that we have fans that really fudging care about us. Going up and i ****ing love it

Thought the flare looked brilliant! All I could see in a sea of heads was the flare and Corky bobbing up and down (no pun intended) on peoples shoulders. All a bit of fun ffs!

Seems YOUR moaning is unpopular...

Thought the flare looked class, you've said he's a knob for setting off the thing but you haven't said why? Can't see any problem with it to be honest

Because he's a skate troll. Nearly all their forums have shut recently.

Ok so what most people on here are saying is that flares are a great way of celebrating at a football match. Ok then let's start bringing them to matches and see what the prem and other fans think about that. I know these were exceptional circumstances with us going up and the pitch invasion. i just didn't think it was necessary with all the bad press flares get in the media in Europe and their connection with football violence and skin headed neo nazis.

I expect some on here to want us to have a tougher rep and others might be just to be ignorant to the fact about flares. Like I said, just see what happens if we start bringing them to every match. If this was just a one off in the midst of our fantastic promotion celebrations then fair enough I suppose but still think the guy was a cock for bringing it in. Whether it looked good or not I'm just looking at the bigger picture.

Ok you can start the "get a life" remarks again as I don't expect any sensible replies.

Are you seriously still banging on about this? BTW can you point to some of the 'bad press' we have received due to this celebration?

Fair point and there might not be any but some of the knob heads on here seem to think flares are great, more the merrier. As I said in my post, I'm sure the prem would take a dim view on this if this wasn't just a one off. That's why I'm still banging on about it. would have been happy for the thread to close last night to be honest as the main point of, "are flares good at football matches" went over some people's heads. Just my opinion is no.

You are right, the flare was rubbish and since it went off I have changed. I have noticed an intollerence to people who are different to me and a real love for hitler. I sat in all last night watching American History X and engraving HH on everything.

The only bit I enjoyed of the whole celebrations yesterday is when the players were on the balcony, the fans were singing and the genius on the PA put on his favourite 80s track and pumped up the volume. Were the guys from Radio Solent still in the building at that point? If so, he's your nextbig DJ. The best hits of today, tomorrow and yesterday whether you want them or not.

I'd be a pretty stupid skate then as I'd hate my team, want to lose every match and love to watch my nearest rivals and want them every success. I know skates aren't the cleverest bunch but even they aren't that stupid.

Just for clarity...you think having a red flare going off makes 'us' look like a bunch of European football (we are in europe by the way) hooligans? Because it looks 'chavy' in your humble opinion, of course.

Or as pretty much everyone else on this thread suggests...having a flare go off covered the pitch celebration in a veil of red mist that added to the atmosphere and celebrations.

What do you think is more dangerous... 25000 running onto a pitch from all directions..mostly alcohol fuelled, high off of football, potentially crushing players in the middle of the pitch or trampling on others as they try to get to the grass....poking someone's eye out with an umbrella....or 1 flare.

You really are a big girl. Grow some ********. It was a flare...not a bomb. It's more dangerous not closing the Northam Road after the game. Where's your thread on that?

Season ruined...red flare danger :(

Not sure why you think I thought flares were dangerous? Maybe it did add to the atmosphere and I've already said if it was a one off then fine. Just raising a slight concern over how flares can be perceived and that this shouldnt be a regular thing.

Anyone else want to have a pop about what I didn't say?

The flare looked impressive from where I was stood, and as others have said the red mist added to the spectacle.

The way it enhanced that Lambert picture is absolute quality, it really is a wonderful shot.

PS the OP needs to have a rethink (or do some in depth reading and experience games on the continent) as he obviously hasn't got much of an idea or experience about how the Ultras work.

That stuff you didn't say about the flare potentially attracting passing helicopters that might have landed on the pitch killing both players and fans - what a class A muppet!

Why do you care about other people's perceptions? Your 'opinion' is that they have nazi undertones and that they look chavy and hooligan like..... Many other opinions' are that it looked f*cking cool. Everyone else thinks it should be a regular thing and that we should all go round beating the **** out of everyone else.

Thanks for writing a constructive argument unlike some on here.

You are right it's my opinion and I know other have theirs.

Flares have been banned in turkey and Scotland and other countries no doubt. We used to have flares in this country and have moved on since then.

Do you really want flares to be a regular thing a SMS.

Yesterday I'm willing to agree was ok but would hate to see it lead to a regular thing.

I don't know if the flare was a good idea or not, but this picture is one of my favourite in saints history.

This has made it to my wallpaper and screensaver.... Flare was good and added a smoky battle look to this photo.

I, like most others, was ecstatic yesterday. I was unable to make the match, unfortunately, as I had to do loads of work. Thankfully it was 'work from home' work, so I was sat there underneath paperwork with a few drinks, watching it on the telly. It was an emotional day, after a long seven years. The match was good, the performance suitable, and it was a great way to seal it. I laughed at the announcement on the tannoy regarding staying in seats, as I knew that the fans would all enjoy a good run onto the pitch, as seems pretty fair. It was good to watch everyone pour on.

However, I then saw that flare. My jaw fell, and my spirit sank. I felt sick.

How could the actions of someone, one irresponsible person, be so entirely inconsiderate and rash? He could have killed hundreds!

The day was ruined for me, in fact, the year. I'd rather have gone down to league two than face this disaster. I'm in crisis. I don't even know if I can carry on. My wife has left me, taking our son to a tropical island, all because of this. She said that her view of the world has turned sour for good, and she can't bear the thought of having to see another person ever again, knowing what humankind is capable of.

Thanks a f==king lot, flare-****.

The flare looked great for tv and those on the pitch caught up in the moment, from the stand for a brief moment it had the capacity to go wrong, you could see the sway of the crush you could see flags swaying around near the flame and I am glad we are on the front pages today for the right reasons.

I'm not a killjoy, not expecting sensible replies but worried by some of the comments on here.

It's a bit different when it's thrown on to the pitch during a match!

The flare yesterday added to the atmosphere, please stop embarrassing yourself and just stop posting in this thread.

People on here said it should be a regular thing and there should be more of them. Do you you trust everyone to not do something stupid. I have said the flare on Saturday was ok as a one off.

I'm a skinhead, a fan of a Permier League club (as of yesterday), and a member of the media. I think flares are excellent. I have no idea about the 'facts' other than that they create a bit of visual atmosphere and seem pretty harmless.

I thought the flare added to the atmosphere at the end of the game. Actually a few more fireworks might have been a good idea. Can't believe anyone would want to have a moan about it.

welcome to the modern health & safety, namby pamby bollix era :(

don't be surprised if some din sues, due to inhaling the toxic smoke or being blinded by the dazzling glare from the flare
