He is the Drive and Ambition - sure he may not always get things 100% from a fans perspective, but that is alwys gingto happen when your focus is solely about achieving the growth and development - nothing will derail it. He has backed Nige, but remained realistic rewarding thoe doing the work, not just a few mercenaries our for a bigger pay day. Top Job all round.

Massive respect for not just what he has done for us, but for having the balls and courage to stand by his own decisions, even the ones that had the potential to upset people. While not always popular, I can't think of anything he has done wrong. He is the driving force behind us. When times go bad it's the Chairman that gets the blame, so it's only fair that in our good times, the Chairman gets the credit!

_This_ is what has got me really choked up. Right now I am broken. But mainly with tears of joy.

Yep.

Someone repost The Watch Story!

Was trying to explain it to a mate the other day.....memory brought a tear to my eye.

I realise that there are great expectations and I will ensure that every effort is expended to meet these expectations, but effectively we need to restructure and create a solid base from which we can build and become successful. This will take time. We will take our example from our supporters, who already are what we aim to become – Premier League. With their support we will again become a Premier League Club. The supporters, the City of Southampton and the region deserve nothing less. Everyone at the Club will be fully committed to responding to this great challenge

When the full time whistle went, he went straight to who I presume were the Liebherrs and became very emotional and had to fight back the tears. Obviously still feeling the pain of Markus' passing. Wish Markus could have been here to witness what his investment has meant to so many of us.

Was the blonde lady next to Nicola a Liebherr? I assumed so, but obviously can't be sure myself. Anyone know?

They showed him briefly on the bbc, and he had empty seats next to him. Having failed to get a ticket, I found this highly galling and immediately began organising a protest. I am pleased to see from the pictures above that he was obviously keeping seats warm for the Liebherr family so I have unchained myself from the Ted Bates statue and cancelled my planned self-immolation. Well done, Mr Cortese.

He's like the Maggie Thatcher of the football world. He rules with an Iron fist, but runs the club very very well.

What a highly inappropriate comparison. Lowe was the Maggie Thatcher of Football, a ****. Just like Thatcher was the worst thing that ever happened to this country, Lowe was the wrost thing that ever happened to our club. Cortese on the other hand is one of the best things that has ever happened. Sorry to bring the word Lowe to this day, but had to be done with mentions of that awful woman.

Maggie Thatcher was the anti christ.......Nicola Cortese is nothing of the sort, he may not suffer fools gladly but he knows how to unite fans of this club whereas Thatcher divided people end of.

Anyway i apologise for talking politics. Lets talk Saints Saints and more Saints.

Press already sharpening their knives against him,

on the Sunday Supplement on Sky this morning one journo saying he is awkward to deal with and have to improve his relationship with press, strangely one of them said Nigel is hard work and often tightlipped.

looks like we will be getting some bum reports next season

BUT WHO CARESstuff em all

That comment about NA has been made many times, even by Solent in their matchday coverage, saying they really would love to bring us more interesting and insightful interviews, but it's simply not possible.

I don't care, he does it for a reason and it works.

As for NC's relationships with the press, I think a lot has been learnt here with the 'South Coast Club' saga.

Oh noes!!! That means the press won't be able to get any information out of us to twist.

The problem is that the journos have space to fill, and if we're not giving out info, then they write what they want. Not saying we should change our stance, but need to be prepared for a sh1t fest from them if it is the case that we maintain radio silence so far as the media is concerned. I quite like a siege mentality myself.

Who is the ginger - Alex McLeish clone on NC's right ?

oh, and whilst at it, is that Les Reed or Pete Waterman the other side of the ginger ?

I wonder who is the little rich girl in the middle giving it large!?

Is it by any chance a member of the Liebherr family, looking at the blonde lady behind her, sure Ive seen her picture on this site and the Directors box, ear-lobe watch threads before ?
