dune Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 I don't mean to put a dampener on proceedings but they are now a League 1 club, possibly about to die, and we are back in the Premier League lording it over them again. Did the last 7 years really happen because it seems just like the old days again?
MDG Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 I agree with this one - it is a fantastic day for us - but I am in the 'We need Pompey' camp - Having a local rival is a good thing for all us. I hope they sort things out and can rebuild ...

Jimmy_D Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Feels like it's time to bring back 'Pride of the South'

niceandfriendly Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 No sympathy for them. Scum. But today is all about us, let's forget them.

Dalek2003 Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Respect for Coventry, who today showed they are doing the right thing. Playing the youth players and trying to cut their costs ? Have the ones down the road done that ? No ! That is why I don't respect them. They are the authors of their own downfall !
Saint Without a Halo Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Spare a thought for Pompey is almost like spare a penny for the Guy and he goes down in flames in the end! (A bit like Pompey really)

Pugwash Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Actually, we don't need a Pompey. Nor does football, civilisation or the human race. ...and this. Oh, and well done Dexter!
positivepete Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Back home now, doing my bit by celebrating with a pint or two of HSB, the only decent thing to come out from that area

Whatever league we are in, you will always know we are better than you! Its like the end of an epic. The normal rules of nature on the South Coast have been restored. Southampton in the elite league rightly restored as the shining light on the South Coast. Brighton are in their place, the dowdy bridesmaids and Bournemouth the earnest but talentless guest. Then there is the low life slinking around outside in the shadows of the garbage waste, eeking a living and muttering to itself in a deluded and incoherant manner ! Throw them a scrappy bone if you must. The south coast is once again in a state of harmony.

whizzpop Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 No, roughly 95% of their fans wallowed in our despair and I am now wallowing at their misery..just hope it takes them even longer than it took us.

Totally agree with this, why the general footballing public have a soft spot for Potsmouth and their " wonderful " fans is beyond me.
dune Posted 28 April, 2012 Author Posted 28 April, 2012 No, roughly 95% of their fans wallowed in our despair and I am now wallowing at their misery..just hope it takes them even longer than it took us. Historically speaking i'd guestimate another 40 years of lording it over them.
stev2001 Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Totally agree with this, why the general footballing public have a soft spot for Potsmouth and their " wonderful " fans is beyond me. Fire sale has already began, Pearce and Halford sold. Gamble of not doing that in January has backfired, hasn't it. Maybe they should play their youngsters next season, novel idea but might be the way forward.

So, as well as the possible spectacle of Wham failing and then imploding we have the added bonus of standing at the sidelines and watching the possible extinction of them down the road. Sha la la la !
whoateallthepies Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Anytime you feel sorry for them just take a drive through North End...ta ta ting ting ting ting ting ting ting...deliverance in the flesh.

Draino76 Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 I just do not like the way Portsmouth way. I always endeavour to try and go about my business in an appropriate manner.
pedg Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 They would have got away with it if it was not for that pesky administration.

Sheaf Saint Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Come August and we start the season at home to Man United They start away at Chesterfield  Chesterfield got relegated to L2 today... Which means that once the FL/FA have actually grown a pair and given Pompey the punishment they deserve for their total lack of respect for any sense of decency or fair play over the last few years, Chesterfield should still be a division or two above them!

If they were given the punishment they deserve they would no long exist and be banned from playing any sort of professional football for the next 20 years.
