The Kraken Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Messi, Cronaldo and Iain Dowie out of retirement.
ThreeSixty Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Owen wants on the bus michael owen @themichaelowen Well done Southampton. Great club and good to see them back in The Premier League.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Nathaniel Clyne (Crystal Palace), James Tomkins (West Ham), Curtis Davies (Brum) Peter Whittingham (Cardiff), Matt Phillips (Blackpool), Jay Rodriguez (Burnley).
Ozkeith2 Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Berbatov? I don't like signing players from relegated teams 'cos they seem to have a habit of getting relagated again (eg: Quashie, Parker), but if we had to, how about: Jarvis, SWP, Junior Hoilet.
Ashby Saint Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 At least a partner for Jos. A right midfielder / right winger. Depth everywhere else.
Saint_Jonny Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Oh **** they let Tim on the radio. Day ruined. :D
suewhistle Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Not yet, for goodness sake, I've got a beer or two to finish before I hit the town....

No thanks to SWP, a player on the decline. If we want a winger from a relegated team would prefer Hoilett or Chung Yong Lee at Bolton
Ozkeith2 Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Walcott, Bale, AOC, Dyer, Surman, Crouch, Higgy, Delap .... I'd take the first 5
Foxstone Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Nathaniel Clyne (Crystal Palace), James Tomkins (West Ham), Curtis Davies (Brum) Peter Whittingham (Cardiff), Matt Phillips (Blackpool), Jay Rodriguez (Burnley). I would agree with all of those and Gary Hooper for good measure..
Lighthouse Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 I've mentioned this before but as this is apparently the official HCDAJFU, Niko Kranjcar. I'd also take Clyne, Tomkins/C.Davies (at least 1 definitely wont get promoted), JRod and Phillips from those listed above.
positivepete Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Must say some the Coventry youngsters were pretty good today, may be a few for our development squad should they go pop. The right back, centre half, (Cranie also played well today) and the striker that came on all had good games.
Foxstone Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 See if we can prise Jarvis away from Wolves perhaps:
itchen_dan Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Schmeichel, Scott Dann, Snodgrass, Rodriguez, Hooper.
stev2001 Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Nathaniel Clyne (Crystal Palace), James Tomkins (West Ham), Curtis Davies (Brum) Peter Whittingham (Cardiff), Matt Phillips (Blackpool), Jay Rodriguez (Burnley). Not bad would be happy with those, none would demand huge wages.
stev2001 Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Schmeichel, Scott Dann, Snodgrass, Rodriguez, Hooper. I like these too. I can't wait to see who we get. Play offs will decide some decisions

Finding space all the time, and using it well.
Thedelldays Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 I thought Carl Baker looked terrific today. Finding space all the time, and using it well. Their number 8? He was very very good

The right back, centre half, (Cranie also played well today) and the striker that came on all had good games. What those Coventry youngsters showed me was that we need 6/7 new players for the Premier. Adkins has never had to deal with the pace and power of the Premier so it's going to be interesting how things turn out.
Golac's Iron Gonads Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 I'd make a little inquiry into the availability of Ji sung Park.
scotty Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Their number 8? He was very very good Yes, out on the right. Seemed to always be getting into really good wide positions, perfect for a cut-inside and shot or a dangerous cross. I was impressed, we didn't seem to be able to track him at all.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 I'd make a little inquiry into the availability of Ji sung Park. For the new training ground?
Supersubpuckett Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 If we have got some decent money in the budget, I think we should go for a couple of experienced premier league midfielders. Throw in a few defenders also - the current lot would get ripped to shreds. I think lampard would be a good shout if chelsea try to off load him. There's no point in going for good champ/releg players as we already have that standard. but anyway, what a bloody marvellous debate to be able to have!!!
the saint in winchester Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Haha, Lampard. What's he on a week? £100k? Not in our budget. We have the summer to decide acquisitions. Good times.
Rebel Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 We need to bring in 6 or 7 new players without a doubt - plus 4 or 5 loans. I would expect Gary Hooper and Jay Rodriguez to be on the shopping list along with players Like Scott Dann and Curtis Davies if Brum City don't make it up. We should also look at Matt Phillips and Tom Ince if Blackpool don't make it up either. I'd have Martin Cranie and Andrew Surman back as well. We should also look to get 4 or 5 young players in on loan from the premier league big boys - players with real potential like Josh McCreachan from Chelsea, John Guidetti from Man City, Riyo Miyachi from Arsenal and Jonjo Shelvey from Liverpool. I think we'll also see one or two players from the Dutch first division and the Italian Serie A join us.

We will sign 3 or 4 new additions like we did last year and the year before, but I expect the panic to ensue when we haven't bought a new team.
Saint137 Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 We don't need any players. Look at what Swansea & Norwich have achieved by giving the players wot go them promotion the chance. Our squad will be massively motivated to be playing in the top flight (only Kelvin has done so I think, assuming Connoly retires?). Let them DAJFU and strengthen in January if needed. They deserve it.
bubblyone Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Their number 8? He was very very good Agreed! Maybe lacks a bit of pace but used the ball intelligently.

Where do you think Swansea would be without Sigurdsson? or any of their other recruits like Routledge and Caulker for that matter.
doggface Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 We need prem players with speed, all depends on budget. Ohara would be great Moses or hoilett would be unbelievable but probably destined for greater things and out of our budget. 1 striker, rodelega or odemwinge. Cb Curtis Davies Gk- need a challenger for kelv We need 5-6 and a clear out with a few out on loan Barney Seaborne Reeves Martin need npc experience. Is de ridder good enough? Is hammond capable?
Golac's Cunning Stunts Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Llorente from Athletic Bilbao please :-)
Lazlo78 Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 We also need to keep the nucleus of our team in place or we'll lose all momentum from the last two years. Improve on a few key positions but keep faith in this team!
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 28 April, 2012 Author Posted 28 April, 2012 Adkins said the team will need to evolve with the right players, i think they proberly have sounded out some players already. And will now be able to target higher calibre players now were PROMOTED!!!
SO16_Saint Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 How much do you reckon we will spend? £10M? More?
Lighthouse Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Andriy Yarmolenko. He's basically the Ukrainian Adam Lallana, although proven at a higher level. Plays for Dynamo Kiev, wouldn't come cheap.
DrunkenSaint Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 We also need to keep the nucleus of our team in place or we'll lose all momentum from the last two years. Improve on a few key positions but keep faith in this team! This is very true but we do have big question marks on many players since we can not deal with pace or width and most of the Premiership teams play with both. At least 2 new defenders, 2 midfielders and 1 striker is needed but id start off getting the 2 defenders and sort out our right midfield. I believe Lee will be great for us in the premier so we might not need a striker.
Nexstar Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Schmeichel, Curtis Davies, Clyne, Kightly, Hooper, Phillips
Chez Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 (edited) Gordon, Davies, Mutch, Zaha, Phillips never gonna happen, but gotta aim high. Edited 28 April, 2012 by Chez
Mr Saints Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 We'll break the club transfer record without a doubt. I expect Hooper will come in and I reckon we'll go for the pick of the Championship players (Norwich style).
Lighthouse Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Given choice of Hooper or JRod who would you have? Hooper - 23 in 45 games in Scotland JRod - 21 in 42 in NpC I'd probably go with JRod on the basis the Celtic are under the illusion that the SPL is good. As such they will probably demand ludicrous fees for their top players. Burnley will struggle to hold on to Rodriguez this summer, he will got to the Prem one way or another. He is also a year or 2 younger.
Chez Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Given choice of Hooper or JRod who would you have? neither, we are desperate for some pace and they both just offer more of the same.
anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 28 April, 2012 Posted 28 April, 2012 Would be happy with: Scott Sinclair, Matt Phillips, Curtis Davis, Emmanuel Frimpong (loan), Nathanial Clyne, and a young keeper (from Europe to get better value).
