New ticketing system - Validate your details

As an 'old fart' with limited online skills I anticipated all manner of problems with the application (I read this thread before I embarked on the actual mission!) but to my astonishment it worked 1st time with zero hiccups and I got the confirmation immediately (admittedly to my junk folder!).

Either I am much brainier than I thought or some of you lot are fecking useless :):)

I think this is probably the explanation for your success. RTFM!

Cheers, I'll try that.

I've tried to book tickets online before and it asked for a number. The number on my ST never worked. Maybe it was a membership number they were after rather than a customer number. The whole thing didn't seem to work for anybody. Hopefully this one will be better.

Do I need to do this in order to renew my ST or is this supplementary?

I think it is just to make sure that your details are correct in the new system.

In all seriousness I do know people that are still pretty much computer illiterate and won't have even heard about this, let alone know how to sign up for this.

Then a system to buy online tickets and season tickets is irrelevant to them and they can continue to buy them over the phone or in person like they were doing already.

I would not worry - if you are are teh data base and they have up to date address you will still get all teh marketing guff they are going to send out - only new thing tehy wanted to capture was DOB - guess they will be sending out specific age related mareting material - that will be all.

Well that's what I was asking, so this is in no-way compulsory as things currently stand.

Yep. I'm now expecting ads for saints-branded wool-lined slippers, thermos flasks, reading glasses, and tooth mugs.

But it doesn't matter, because I'll have forgotten how they got my details.

Poor sods in the T.O, they've been run off their feet all season owing to our brilliance on the field and now they'll get inundated

with dopey requests from us idiots who don't know our post code or have forgotten our password.

They deserve some big holidays cos next season won't be a stroll in the park either.

Would have been a lot easier if they hadn't been so f****g useless.

Reading this thread I was dreading doing it. As I've always had problems with my customer number.

But went trough no problems sweet. Always a first time for everything.

Apart from the fact that if you check the details again (by repeating the process) you will find that any telephone number greater than 10 digits will be truncated.

So is it only Hatch and I that noticed that this system truncates the telephone numbers (if over 10 digits)?

For example. if you put in the telephone number as

02380123456

it only stores it as

0238012345

So you end up having to store it like this instead:

2380123456

or just

80123456

I would advise anyone who "thinks" it has worked to double check. After that (and you find it is OK) please feel free to berate me for wasting your time :D

Why does it matter so much if one's telephone number is stored incorrectly. As long as I can use the online system I'm not fussed of they don't have a valid telephone number for me or not. Indeed, it's preferable if they don't :-)

I am not saying it matters necessarily. If you don't want them to have a correct number for you then you can just key in junk. I am just saying that IF you have given them a correct number (because presumably that is what you want them to have) then double check it, because it will probably be wrong.

Got to the final screen saying I have registered, but havn't had an email confirmation, and I have checked my junk folder. Am I REGISTERED
Go back through it again. If your (new/changed) details are there then I think that is fine. Check that the phone numbers are correct (assuming you want them to be) and that the email address is correct - the latter may be the reason you have not received an confirmation.

May I just say a big thank you to the Saintsweb Forum (and KP Turner in particular!) for guiding me through this potential minefield !

To achieve my goal without insults from Alpine_Saint, without **** taking from Turkish and without political interference from Dune was an absolute pleasure and a doddle to boot !

God bless you all !!

Bloomin 'eck FC. Can't you set up a macro so that every time you type in "teh" it puts in "the"? I thought _my_ typing was bad..;-)

I must admit, even with a masters degree in IT I've been confuzzled for years as to this account number bizzo; in the end often just manually going down to St. Mary's myself to buy the ticket (although, championship or premiership, I think I'll attempt to renew my season ticket this year as the last two have been a blast).

I've followed the 2380 directions, it works fine and after all the confuzzlement I can now say I'm sorted, thanks go out to the poster who suggested it might be on my old membership card. :D
