manji Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Maybe the countdown is to show how long it takes until I get validated.
sandwichsaint Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Itys certainly strange that they warn you to leave a gap bewteen the two parts of your post code but don't specify how the DoB needs to be entered or whether there is a phone number format they need.......and when you end up on "The Road To Nowhere" page, how are you supposed to know if you've done the necessary? Does seem a bit amateurish - surprising really. Not really, I'm surprised that you're surprised that anything online to do with SFC is Bob-a-job standard.
kpturner Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 So if I got the road to nowhere and not the "finished" screen do I need to do again?!What browser are you using?
The Cat Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Mozilla Firefox. I tried it on there and it didn't work. Had to resort to using IE instead.
kpturner Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Mozilla Firefox. It has been mentioned several time in this thread that it only works properly (without a lot of @rsing around) if you use IE - despite IE being the worst browser on the planet.
mdearlove Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 make sure you have both phone numbers filled in and they both have no gaps
Hatch Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Tried again using IE as I didn't get a confirmation using Chrome. All the fields were auto filled in already, the phone numbers had omitted the last digit so were wrong, and I still didn't get a confirmation email. Given up now, going to support Bournemouth instead.
kpturner Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 oh and worked in Chrome fine for meI bet it didn't. You will not have seen the final confirmation screen (the picture I posted earlier) - nor will you have received an email.
Dr Who? Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 This is good, it gives us something else to maon about rather than the team, and how they are going screw everything up... blah blah blah. Good timing by the club! I think most finding this hard to complete says a lot really!
This Charming Man Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Says my details aren't verified despite using the on-line facility hundreds of times. Oops... Classic Saints. In fact, I've become so accustomed to our ticket office being so inept, I'd almost be disappointed if we were to have a seamless, problem free ticketing system. It just wouldn't be Saints then.
kpturner Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 (edited) If you do it again to double check the details, do you find that the last digit is missing from both phone numbers? The only way I could stop that happening was to omit the leading zero (so 2380 instead of 02380). It only seems to accept 10 digits max. I won't be employing the developer (or tester) that churned this cr@p out. Edited 26 April, 2012 by kpturner
Dr Who? Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 We will probably be on TV so our season will kick off earlier :s
kpturner Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Apparently Nigel has adopted the approach used to develop and test this system to prepare the players for Saturday. Please expect some of the players to be in the wrong kit, or kicking the wrong way. Those that post on Twitter rather than Facebook will not make it to the end of the game either.
gandalf Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Worked second time. Still had my details but didn't validate first time. I have now got confirmation email.
kpturner Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Worked second time. Still had my details but didn't validate first time. I have now got confirmation email.Do it again - and double check the last digit of each phone number (assuming each one has more than 10 digits).
VectisSaint Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 No idea what my customer number is. Therefore; I'm out. Do you have an old membership card? If so that would be the number, its what they always use with me.
manji Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Finally succesful using the laughably slow IE AND removing the zeros from my phone numbers. Thanks all for the tech help.
manji Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Do you have an old membership card? If so that would be the number, its what they always use with me. Correct my old membership card number is my new customer number.
Norm Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Tried to update 4 and no confirmation at the end of anyone of them. Oh dear, email on it's way.
VectisSaint Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Has this been developed by aap3? If so not very good advert for our main sponsor, if not why are we using someone else? Will give it a few days, standard testing technique, chuck it out there see if it works, get any feedback from the punters who have time on their hands to act as beta testers and then put out a new version. Works for MS, looks like aap3 use the same techniques.

Did mine on Chrome apart from a back track at the end then 2 clicks forwards, takes you to the junkmail and T's&C's tick boxes. when you submit, it takes you round to the first page. All very painless...................... Apart from my Confirmation email being in my Junk Folder: So check your Junk/Spam folder for your confirmation email.
kpturner Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 ... apart from a back track at the end then 2 clicks forwards, .....All very painless...................... That sounds like one of my software developers trying to justify a bug. "Of course it works OK - as long as you know that you have to do something completely unintuitive to make it work - all very painless"

"Of course it works OK - as long as you know that you have to do something completely unintuitive to make it work - all very painless" One of the Apollo missions failed to launch because of a comma in the place of a full stop in the code, know the bloke who did it as well, didn't even get much of a bollicking.

Not this old chestnut/urban myth?: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariner_1
Dan Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 The article suggests another pre season tour abroad, hopefully somewhere decent this year. Don't fancy another trip to Switzerland, Thailand would be nice.

Window Cleaner Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Yeah right! Not this old chestnut/urban myth?: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariner_1 Nope, this was one of the last Apollo missions.Just delayed the launch by a couple of days.

"Of course it works OK - as long as you know that you have to do something completely unintuitive to make it work - all very painless" Thankfully we have someone else who deals in the dark arts of software, plus our main system runs off the very dark mystical world of dBase. At inception I just ask the questions about everything that goes wrong when visiting everyone else's website etc. Admittedly with this little subject, reading the opening posts certainly helped to prepare ones mind for what may lay ahead,(an inquisitive mind might have helped too) instead of diving into page 120 and reading the mithering about a crap system, then joining in................ although by page 120 the subject would be on to where's the tick box to say I don't want to sit next to someone wearing a replica shirt.

Saint Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 I have no idea what my customer number is. Reading through the thread, I saw above that you get it from an old membership card. I have no membership card but I have had a season ticket for 3 seasons in a row now. Does this have the information on it? Does this affect season tickets? Will I still be able to renew without this?

jasonb Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Dunno if this will help anyone but I typed my customer number into the field rather than pasting it in via an email. This combined with entering my surname with a lower case seemed to work.. no other problems. I used Chrome browser FWIW.
saintrich Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Did it using internet on my phone no problem, took less than a minute.
saintscottofthenortham Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Just went through it in about 45 seconds. Done, dusted, finished.
suewhistle Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 What about those of us with overseas addresses, post codes and phone numbers: any experiences? I don't fancy being a tester - I did enough speccing and test plans when I worked in IT.

Post Code poses a problem, usually they just put a dot into that box but this new thingy won't have that or won't seem to anyway. Trying to sort it out with the TO

Saint Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 You customer number is printed on your season ticket Cheers, I'll try that. I've tried to book tickets online before and it asked for a number. The number on my ST never worked. Maybe it was a membership number they were after rather than a customer number. The whole thing didn't seem to work for anybody. Hopefully this one will be better. Do I need to do this in order to renew my ST or is this supplementary?
