Maggie May Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Twitter's going nuts at the moment that the Bakerloo line tunnel has collapsed under the River Thames.
This Charming Man Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 TFL and BTP saying nothing is wrong and they're just attending to an obstruction.
mdearlove Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 seen it on Twitter but not on any credible news site/station
Soton7 Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 TfL deny 'tunnel collapse' "There is no tunnel collapse. There was a small defect in a tunnel wall, which was hit by a tube train - nobody has been hurt. Structural engineers are at the scene and they hope to get things moving in a couple of hours". http://www.itv.com/news/london/
This Charming Man Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 seen it on Twitter but not on any credible news site/station All the big guns; BBC, Telegraph etc were tweeting about it but TFL now denying it.
Hatch Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Good job I chose Jubilee line this morning instead of Bakerloo.
Minty Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 A classic example of how the combination of a silly, unsubstantiated rumour and social media can feed the world completely wrong information.
stevegrant Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 A classic example of how the combination of a silly, unsubstantiated rumour and social media can feed the world completely wrong information. Apparently the source of the "oh noes, the tunnel's collapsed" rumour was the RMT
buctootim Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Apparently the source of the "oh noes, the tunnel's collapsed" rumour was the RMT RMT are blaming TfL for "a cavalier attitude to safety" on the exact day RMT memeber maintenance workers at Tfl are out on on strike........
SNSUN Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 I haven't heard anything major about it, and I'm currently at work. Just a suspension. We are telling people to avoid the line though, except that one lady I didn't get on with...
bridge too far Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 RMT are blaming TfL for "a cavalier attitude to safety" on the exact day RMT memeber maintenance workers at Tfl are out on on strike........ But not on the Bakerloo line apparently.

BTF's right, It's the JNP TubeLines workers that are out on strike. (Jubilee, Northern, Piccadilly) Nothing has happened so far, good service at the moment. London Underground has said in the past that, besides major problems, we can get through a few days without maintaining the track or trains - as evidenced during the 24 hour running on New Years Eves.

Im not saying they caused the problem, just that its in their interests to announce a press grabbing dramatic 'tunnel collapse' when maintenance workers have a grievance.
TopGun Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 No collapse - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-17853428
