Hatch Posted 24 April, 2012 Posted 24 April, 2012 would love to see them go down, not because I have a particular dislike to them , but to see a so called big club go down would be very amusing. Games away to Norwich and WBA and home to Spurs, they may not get another point.
acersaint Posted 24 April, 2012 Posted 24 April, 2012 Wouldn't like to see that happen. Work with a Villa supporter and he is a great bloke, never takes the pi** and is a genuine supporter. He would be really happy for me if we go up.

Let the b*ggers see what it's like to truly suffer for a bit rather then simply moan at being merely in the top half.
Monk Posted 24 April, 2012 Posted 24 April, 2012 Ive never understood how clubs with the infrastructure like Villa and Newcastle haven't been more successful.
ThreeSixty Posted 24 April, 2012 Posted 24 April, 2012 Have probably one of the worst managers i have ever seen, every chance to go down.
CB Fry Posted 24 April, 2012 Posted 24 April, 2012 Villa a big club on what basis? Biggest club in England's second city. Big ground. History including European cup. Runners up in the league twice in my memory. Easily as big as Tottenham. Bigger than Saints.
Thedelldays Posted 24 April, 2012 Posted 24 April, 2012 Villa a big club on what basis? you taking the pish...?
anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 24 April, 2012 Posted 24 April, 2012 Big Eck is going for two successive relegations for both Brum clubs, an amazing achievement if he pulls it off.
doddisalegend Posted 25 April, 2012 Posted 25 April, 2012 I want QPR to go down...not sure why just dis-like the way they've gone about things the last couple of seasons. If Villa were the other team to go down I'd find quite ammusing would that be all the claret and blue teams in the championship next season if it happens?
This Charming Man Posted 25 April, 2012 Posted 25 April, 2012 (edited) I always enjoy seeing a big club get relegated and for that reason, I want them to go down. Plus I hate the Brummie accent. Not sure that's any relevance, but still, I hate it. Edited 25 April, 2012 by This Charming Man
Dog Posted 25 April, 2012 Posted 25 April, 2012 I Hate Villa more than Pompey, would love them to go down & see Villa Park half empty.
S-Clarke Posted 25 April, 2012 Posted 25 April, 2012 I don't think they'll go down, but it's much closer than I thought it would be - and that's down to QPR, Blackburn, Wigan, Bolton etc winning games on the trot. Villa's run in doesn't look pretty on paper but they have the quality to get another win which is all I think it will take. It would be a great effort to lead 2 midlands clubs to successive relgations though....
Bearsy Posted 25 April, 2012 Posted 25 April, 2012 Villa fan i know still blames O'Neil for their troubles. He reckons they was the biggest spenders in europe two years running under O'Neil (can that be tru?) and he wasted most of it on gash. As an outsider i thought O'Neil did a good job for them, but my mate reckons most villa fans hate him almost as much as that ginger manager they got now.

On the face of it, that argument looks weak, but dig a bit deeper and you see an underlying problem... the likes of Habib Beye on a 5-year contract at £50k a week, discarded by O'Neill himself after a couple of months, Steve Sidwell was on a similar amount and they had to give him a big pay-off to take a pay cut and move to Fulham. Plenty of other examples as well.

Plenty of other examples as well. Steve Sidwell on 50k a week? Jesus H. And the aim is to get into the Premiership and attract the likes of these players? Of course I'd hope the current regime wouldnt bow down to the demands of mediocre players wanting extortionate wages but it can happen, it has happened in the past. The squad we have now plays as a squad, as a team, for the club. There doesnt appear to be any mercinaries in our set up. Could be very wrong of course.... And i'd love it, love it if Villa went down

I thought MoN ditched Villa becuase they wouldn't back him in the transfer market? Seems a bit hollow if they were the biggest spenders in europe 2 seasons running.
norwaysaint Posted 25 April, 2012 Posted 25 April, 2012 Villa are such enormous under-achievers. it's a bigger city than Manchester or Liverpool, yet they never really get anywhere. They don't have a lot of competition locally either, Blues? Wolves? Coventry? The only other comparable under-achievers are Bristol, an enormous city without a single big club and Leeds, the only really big city with only one club in it.

Also I hope Villa don't go down. Always liked their club and their fans always seem quite grounded and less arrogant than the likes of Newcastle or Spurs.
S-Clarke Posted 25 April, 2012 Posted 25 April, 2012 It's been a bit of a dark season for midlands football in all to be fair, only West Brom are keeping it competitive.

I will feel sorry for him if he gets the job as the press won't give him an inch

Always liked their club and their fans always seem quite grounded and less arrogant than the likes of Newcastle or Spurs. It was a bit of a throwaway comment, but for a club with such a large fanbase all to themselves, I always feel they should be more dominant. There's no other city of comparable size that only has one team that I can think of. I also like Villa. I lived in the area for about 10 years and there was only ever friendly banter and respect from them.

I will feel sorry for him if he gets the job as the press won't give him an inch It makes you laugh at the bad deal he was given as Liverpool manager. He had a better % than King Kenny. But the problem with Liverpool is that if they're 'not one of them' then they don't get a chance. If it wasn't kenny managing them now he'd have been hounded out months ago. S-Clarke Posted 25 April, 2012 Posted 25 April, 2012 Heskey, £3.5m Even Bent at 'up to 24m' is criminal. More expensive than David Villa. Work that out.
View From The Top Posted 25 April, 2012 Posted 25 April, 2012 I work with AVFC season ticket holders who haven't been since October and won't return whilst the current manager remains. The WBA fans I work with, the majority of my staff, are over the moon as with Wolves fu cked and Villa in turmoil they are top dogs and, it must be said, very well run.
SNSUN Posted 25 April, 2012 Posted 25 April, 2012 Big Eck is going for two successive relegations for both Brum clubs, an amazing achievement if he pulls it off. Both in the same manner too - mid-table clubs slowly slipping into the relegation spots while the others are fighting for their lives. I don't really care but it would be interesting to see a big club get relegated, plus if we go up it'd give us some decent players to poach! There always seems to be one club that hasn't been in the relegation zone that finds themselves in it at the end of the season - I actually thought it'd be Swansea this year. Keep the cruddy teams up there like Wigan and Bolton (more points for us next season potentially!) and let the richer, bigger clubs like QPR and Aston Villa come down!
This Charming Man Posted 26 April, 2012 Posted 26 April, 2012 Even Bent at 'up to 24m' is criminal. More expensive than David Villa. Work that out. Villa was coming to the end of his contract and Valencia were selling off all their assets as they were broke at the time. Bent had a couple of years left on his contract, was scoring plenty of goals and sold to a rival club - you'll always pay a premium for that.
