Wade Garrett Posted 24 April, 2012 Share Posted 24 April, 2012 Closest I've come to tears at a game was the tribute to Bally against Southend.
Golden Balls Posted 24 April, 2012 Share Posted 24 April, 2012 RIP. Top bloke, can't believe it's been 5 years already. Will never forget going 0-1 down to Southend in the game we needed to win, then the crowd singing "Win it for Bally" - The players really stepped it up! My proudest moment to date was playing football with him and MLT in 2004. He still had it then!
St Chalet Posted 24 April, 2012 Share Posted 24 April, 2012 Closest I've come to tears at a game was the tribute to Bally against Southend. Genuinely choked up then, St Mary's packed out with Flat Caps. One of the few to be respected both sides of the M27, attended a Pompey *cough* training session at Moneyfields when he was manager there. He did the first team and then took a Q&A with us kids. A really lovely man, great loss to football and the world.

dubai_phil Posted 24 April, 2012 Share Posted 24 April, 2012 We overtook him on the M27 when we were heading up to Wembley for the ZDS, in a minibus fully decked out with scarves, and he was driving East. He gave us a huge grin, thumbs up and clenched fist salute. Cannot believe it's been 5 years, my what a lot has happened in that time. Hope you get a good seat along with all the other Saints legends upstairs next to Marcus on Saturday

Saint Without a Halo Posted 25 April, 2012 Share Posted 25 April, 2012 (edited) Bally a legend as a saints player and saints manager it was my privalege to see both What I wouldn't give to have him in the side on Saturday in the manner he was in our last promotion team, he would certainly ensure all around him performed to their peak and always led by example! The added value of his passion, feeling and man managment in the team cannot be under estimated! gone but not forgotten! Ian the Red Posted 25 April, 2012 Share Posted 25 April, 2012 Was my hero as a nipper, had to have his white Addidas boots that he wore when he was at Everton...... Great moment when he signed for us. A true legend, a gentlemen and top bloke that loved south coast football. RIP
