Record Attendance Sat?

That's patently nonsense. I reckon your numbers are probably about right in terms of hard core fans and floating fans, however the floating 34,000 will not distribute their attendences evenly across each game of the season. That's why when only 4K of them decide to come and see Barnsley we end up with a relatively low crowd, but when more than 12K of them want to come we have threads on here and conversations in pubs about people looking for tickets when games are 'sold out'.

It's obvious to everyone else on this thread but you are just on a wind up.

But not all the 34,000 missing fans will be able to get tickets for Coventry. We must have turned about 20 odd thousand fans for this game if they'll all come out for the glamour games. I bet there arent 20,000 people with disapointed faces pressing their nose up at the sold out ticket office windows.

Maybe it's me and i'm missing something. No one is able to explain that despite being constantly told on here that this is the best time to be a Saints fan in a lot of people lives and that we need a bigger stadium, that we've been in the top 2 all season and can take 55,000 to a friendly at Wembley why we have played most of the season in front a 1/3 empty stadium. It doesn't make sense. People seem to be taking it all very personally about what they do, yet this cant be the case for 34,000 fans surely? I mean this is an SMS capacity + set of fans that will only turn up now and again. Can someone help me out?

Gladly.

We need to spend millions on expanding the stadium, then drop the ticket prices and it will sell out. Then there won't be 20k people strolling the streets of Southampton every other Saturday, bemoaning their luck on how yet again they missed out on a ticket.

And introduce the Eayjet type pricing structure that was suggested on here at weekend where people can pay extra for priorty exits, queues, an extra £6 for a pi*s etc..

Plus the earlier you book a ticket, the cheaper it is. The nearer the game get's, the price goes up. Games during peak times like Easter Holidays, August, Christmas Period would triple in price.

And kids take up the same room as an adult so have to pay the same price. If you want to bring a bag into the ground it's another £25. Yep, whoever suggested the Easyjet Pricing structure (i think it was Franks Cousin or one of the other froum bores) is a genius.

I know people who will be attending their first Saints game in two years on Saturday. It leaves a properly bitter taste in the mouth, especially when I've missed out, bit you have to accept that alot of people only go to the big games. They are the sort that won't particularly care about the South Coast Derby, but will flock to a game against Man Utd in the FA Cup. Get used to it.

I assume this is by bias of extra tickets being made available to ST holders as usual??

Being such a big fan yourself, surely you're ok as you're a season ticket holder? If not, surely you were guaranteed tickets as you purchased tickets for Ipswich and Barnsley?

I don't understand how you've missed out?

My brother is taking his girlfriend and this will only be her 4th Saints game ever. Her others are Skates, Reading and Boro away. Hang on, there's a trend there... she's now not coming Saturday.

Some dickhead tried that last season near where I sit he kept shouting and swearing about plastics and where was everyone all season!

Where we sit 99% of us are and had been all year yet this was his first game sat there..he didnt last long as just as everyone nearby reached boiling point especially one 6ft 4 brick ****house was grabbing him by the scruff of the neck a steward appeared and booted him out - his mate shuffled off too.

I just don't give a rats arse how many are in the stadium, whether they have been to one game or twenty. How does that affect anyone? Apart from bigger drinks queues and toilets?

I go to watch the team not the crowd which is also why I couldn't give a toss what someone wears to a game - if they want to dress like Morph so be it - if they want to look like a dummy in Urban Outfitter so what.

I preferred it when there was only 17-18k in league one at least i could get served.

If i see a single empty seat Im going to find out who purchased that ticket and punch them square on the nose. After having to endure that b*llsh*t online and via ticket office yesterday its the least i can do. Online from 7.45 and constant redial from 8.25, only to be greeted with people on here gloating at purchasing 12 tickets via the ticket office and able to access online immediately. Fair play to them but makes me bitter :D

Regarding the Man Utd cup game a year or two back, am i right in remembering that the Saints end wasn't actually sold out? Think there were about 1000 seats unsold and i remember the United fans singing "couldn't sell all your tickets". Baring in mind we've had quite a few sell outs this season in the championship, i don't really think it's fair to say people only flock to see the opposition. I don't really see the issue with our attendances this year. Think every "real" club up and down the country are suffering a little. Easily with the prices of some tickets.

Agreed. Almost as bad as this lad I know that declined a night on the p1ss in York after Boro away, as his Mrs had set him a curfew. Some people...

I think you'll find this proper chap who does what we wants had done York many times before and wasn't like an excitable 16 year old allowed on his first night out ever. He also didn't fancy spending £40 on a taxi at 3am.

i assume there is just going to be a line of stewards with no netting to get a crowd this big.

No need for Stewards. The Coventry fans will create a human shield to protect themselves from the sea of waving giant foam hands that will greet their every utterance.

Or a very small piece of black segregation netting. There are 2 in the following picture, the smaller one to the left is only 4 seats wide whereas the larger one is about 10 seats.

Either way it's good that they're cramming as many people as they possibly can in.

They should include stewards, police and the unused subs amongst the final attendance figure as well.

Really push the figures up.

Then the Skates game got 34,000 :D

That reminds me of a question about the cup final, what goes to a cup final and is never used?

It's amazing how far we have come with those attendances we used to get in league one.

There were over a couple of thousand empty seats for the Man Utd game. It was still our second biggest attendence of the season though, behind the last match against Wallsall.

The ribbons for the losing team? No need to tie them onto the trophy, just chuck them in the bin.

As it's the last match of the season, I'm pretty sure they won't mind you taking their season ticket from them.

Record attendance saturday - more than 32,300

http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2748960,00.html

This just don't add up.

We've had countless 'sell-outs' at St Mary's since it opened when no more tickets have been available. We've had the JPT semi-final where MK brought about 100 fans who were pushed up inot the corner and all remaining seats sold to Saints fans with minimal segregation. We've also had Matt Le Tiss' Testimonial when every available seat in the stadium was sold, 100% Saints fans and no segregation whatsoever.

And how can they possibly predict the biggest ever SMS attendance when Cov haven't even nearly sold out their 1,800+ section yet (that can't be passed on to home supporters)? With segregation and all the empty seats in with the visitors section how could it possibly be the "biggest ever attendance"?

Baffling.
