Pilchards Posted 24 April, 2012 Share Posted 24 April, 2012 Because it has us all looking forward to a massive game on Saturday which will have 32,000 screaming fans supporting Saints to a victory. If West Ham lost last night then it will feel like it was gifted to us, instead they can become heroes again. Just man up everyone and except this is the way a script is written and how our team should go up. I can't wait although I will have so many sleepless nights till then. CB Fry Posted 24 April, 2012 Share Posted 24 April, 2012 What if West Ham lose on Saturday? Would that feel "gifted to us?" If WHU had not won we would be promoted now and we would have bloody well earnt it.
This Charming Man Posted 24 April, 2012 Share Posted 24 April, 2012 I love yet at the same time hate the buzz and the anticipation of waiting for the game. Though it's one of the reasons we all love football, the ability to make us feel like that. Though if we were to miss out on automatic promotion, I can't even put into words how sick I'd feel. Would probably have to delete my Facebook and Twitter for a few weeks.

The Walsall game was also brilliant and that was all but a done deal, can't even start to imagine how good the celebrations will be if we do go up. Though let's not get ahead of ourselves. We haven't exactly faired too well against the bottom 3. We've taken 8 points off them in 5 games...

SaintBobby Posted 24 April, 2012 Share Posted 24 April, 2012 It's my 40th birthday. The Mrs kindly booked me a corporate box many moons ago for what we assumed would be a relaxing **** up at a (probably) irrelevant-ish game. Will now be either an utterly awesome or very crap 40th.... I still wish Leicester hadn't folded...
The9 Posted 24 April, 2012 Share Posted 24 April, 2012 If we blow it now it will be the biggest choking since Tennessee Williams. Since the last 4 (or is it 5?) times Cardiff did it, I'd say.
Turkish Posted 24 April, 2012 Share Posted 24 April, 2012 Since the last 4 (or is it 5?) times Cardiff did it, I'd say. Rubbish. 2 games left and 5 points clear of third with a better goal difference and a team already relegated with the worst away record in the divsion to play at home on the last day. That would be far worse than anything Cardiff have done.
100%Red&White Posted 24 April, 2012 Share Posted 24 April, 2012 This is what going to football is all about. In the same way I loved all those end-of-season relegation battles back in the Prem, nothing beats the mood for games like this. I guess it helps that, even if we did choke against Cov and then again in the play-offs, after the initial disappointment I could handle (a bit) more time in the Championship. The past 3 years have been as good as many I've been to in over 40 years, most in the top flight. And I do like winning most weeks. Saturday has the ingredients for a top day out at the football. Cardiff managed to be top for 4 months and not even make the playoffs due to losing an an end of season match by 6 goals to the team that pipped them to a playoff spot by one goal on Goal Difference, so I beg to differ. The one thing I can be certain of with these playoffs is that either Cardiff will choke to miss out on them, or choke to miss out IN them.

Reading the "promotion... how?" thread (http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?37450-Promotion-how...) my thought was "any way possible - no preferences - just get us there!!!". But after the Leicester game I must concede that those of less fragile disposition than myself really do deserve that final day showdown. hasper57saint Posted 24 April, 2012 Share Posted 24 April, 2012 I was hoping for a Draw at least last night but it was not to be. All I want now is the best birthday present any Saint can have with a very good win on Saturday. PS It's my birthday on Thursday 26th. saintalan Posted 24 April, 2012 Share Posted 24 April, 2012 Must admit I would have preferred it over last night yet strangely I am less nervous today than before Saturday/Monday matches! Still 4 days for that to change:)
CLOTH EARS Posted 24 April, 2012 Share Posted 24 April, 2012 The fact of the matter is that Saturday can be a hell of a party and in front of the whole nation. If you are going to be the slightest bit nervous then i suggest you sell you tickets to someone else who isn't going to be nervous lol. The LAST thing our players need is to pick up on a nervous crowd. What we need is volume and plenty of it! This really can be a special day and that is perhaps how fans should approach it. Be excited about it NOT nervous. COYR

stev2001 Posted 24 April, 2012 Share Posted 24 April, 2012 Just been chatting to a west ham fan. He thinks its great that its gone to the last day and they are still in with a shout but he's not even considering anything other than the play offs. Said it was pointless to get any hopes up as we will beat Cov and even if we have a shocker we will still be good enough for a draw and he doesn't think West ham will get more than 3 past Hull. When you hear it from their side it makes you feel better about Saturday.

bender Posted 24 April, 2012 Share Posted 24 April, 2012 Will there be a sea or red and white with cards put under the seats? With a full house including a more than normal amount of home fans due to Cov giving us tickets, you cant see anything but a win if the place is jumping. Unfortunately, I have to go to a massive family bash. Gutted.
