Wager-West Ham-winnings-Waitrose

Just back from my local bookies in Chandlers Ford where I picked up £26 winnings courtesy of having twenty on West Ham to beat Leicester at 13/10. The bloke behind the counter said he had never paid out to so many unhappy winners, so I guess I am not alone in trying to offset the misery. Anyway seeing as I was in the Waitrose car park I spent my dirty, shameful ill-gotten gain on a litre bottle of Gordons gin which come Saturday will either be drunk in celebration or used to blot out the despair. The last three weeks have been pure agony - surely we can't mess this up?

That gin might not make it until Saturday.

I also stuck £20 on a WHU win.

I'm now trying to think of another bet to stick the £46 on that's currently residing in my on-line betting account. Thing is though, it would take a serious, serious amount of money to try and ease the pain if we balls this up.

stick it on saints to win sat.

it will be like buying money...not a lot but buying it all the same

We won"t - keep the faith Duncan. West Ham were always going to win last night. I truly thought we'd do it at Boro, but we didn't - we have another chance though and couldn't hope for a better opponent. Not to underestimate them but if we go about it professionally like we did v Peterborough and Palace we'll be fine. If we play like we did in our last home game v Reading, we'll stuff them.

After the fact, this will be the most thrilling way to get promotion - at home, in front of packed SMS, taking it to the last match. Nerve shredding as it is, this what the adrenalin rush of football is all about.

Come on you Saints!!!

An alliterative argument against alcohol assuaging anxiety.

May I suggest gin and cranberry, as it's sort of red and white and we'll need all the support we can get come the weekend. But be careful because it's so subtle that the gin empties very quickly.

Gin - Duncan's ruin.

I wagered £50 of my £60 winnings from last night on a Saints/WHU double on the last day. Will be a very tidy little profit if it comes in on Saturday. I love the drama and enjoy the Championship so much I am almost detatched from the emotion of it. But thought I'd hedge my bets last night anyway.

Think I might stick £20 each on Cov/Wham win at 16.5 and Draw/Wham win at 7.6 That way if Saints fail I get at least £100 out of it.

There are some good odds on high scores for Wham. 10/1 on a 3-0 win and about 20/1 on a 4-1 or a 4-0. Given that Wham will come out all guns blaxing to try and overhaul our GD, I'd say a fiver each on a few high scores was well worth a flutter.

After lots of laying (betting against) Saints getting promoted by way of having some small compensation if we manage to blow it, I stand to win over £400 if we don't get promoted. And I was still emotionally kicking every ball for Leicester last night as I will be for Saints when I listen (I live in Cornwall and refuse to watch any more games on tv) to Saturday's match. If we do get promoted I've lost £65 and won't think twice about it.

This thread makes me laugh. 2 months ago when I backed Saints to finish 3rd & was called a skate c*nt. Now it seems that quite a few people have adopted the old, 'may as well have something to cheer me up if it all gos tits up' approach.

FWIW I think there's gonna be quite a few of us collecting our winnings on Saturday evening. What bright spark had the idea of putting the Coventry game on TV? :-(
