Yea we're officially in drought but this has been the coldest and wettest April I can remember.

At least we can wash our cars in puddles and overflowing rivers as the hosepipe is out of the question.

Saturday will not be postponed no, it comes between Friday and Sunday come what may.

Certainly glad that's been settled!!

Bit mightily piddled off if Saturday was postponed at less than a weeks notice, I work all week just for that moment at 6:30am when I come to look at the clock and go "ah another 2 hours at leastzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz"!

Didn't they cancel Saturday in Vanuatu at the start of the year?

They did cancel a day in those parts yes but which one it was I couldn't say.

Then there's the story that I heard at a conference once that somewhere in the Bible there's a day that the Sun stood still and some NASA expert had run all that through some giant computer and did find evidence that the Sun stopped moving for about 23hrs at some time in ancient history. Can't remember the rest though, bloke who told me it was a bit hammered at the time as well.

I'm starting to wonder - the only time a match has been postponed at SMS was for waterlogging (Crystal Palace a few years back). Flooding on Third Avenue this afternoon, ground is completely saturated already (New Forest has huge amounts of standing water, garden is flooded at parents' house in Sholing.

Not sure whether it would be an advantage or not, obviously we'd know the Wham result and therefore exactly what we needed to do.

Not if you're in Southampton. Southern Water have a hosepipe ban in place but it doesn't affect this area although they make it very difficult to establish that point on their website. Like the metering; they dont bother to mention that OFWAT say you are entitled to refuse to be billed by volume even though they have the right to install a meter. They just say thats how they are going to bill you, and once you have accepted (ie not objected to) it you cannot then revert to the rated billing.

The Palace game was postponed due to a day of very heavy rain on sodden ground, coupled to a high spring tide which stopped the drains emptying fast enough.

Saturday low tide is at 08:32 high tide is at 15:30 and it's heading towards neap tides, so the drains will have had a good chance to shed their excess before kick off, so if it does piddle down the water will have somewhere to go. We haven't had serious rain for weeks so the ground is relatively hard, any extremes of rain will just run to the lowest point making big puddles making things look worse than they are.

For Saturdays game to be off with TV and all the final game factors, the Queen Mary will have to be moored in Britannia Road!!

I'm not sure if it applies to the imposed meters , but when I took a meter by choice I had a 1 yr cooling off period. My house was rated council tax band f and I made huge savings on the water.
