No regrets

If ever the team needed our support this is surely it. It is obvious the players are going to be really nervous and the likelihood of the game being on TV won't help matters either. The players have admitted in recent weeks that our great support on the road has inspired them to victory.

There has been plenty of debate on here about the atmosphere at SMS but we need to put that to one side and be that 12th man the team so desperately need. 31,000 saints fans getting behind the team even if things not going to plan could be the difference between success and failure. Let's get behind the team and every player including our friend Guly.

Don't leave SMS on saturday with regrets.

I'm having nightmares about this. Your call is absolutely right, but human nature is what it is.

We really, really need 1 (preferably 2) early goals to settle the nerves. The longer it goes on at 0-0, especially if the news coming in from the Wham game is bad for us, the more arsey our fans are going to understandably get, and the more likely there will be the perennial loss-of-concentration in midfield or defence that leads to a mugged Coventry goal.

We really need to come out of the blocks like lightning, or 30K-odd Saints fans are going to end up feeling like 30K-odd Galatasaray fans in Istanbull to the players....

Look Alps if you think the pressure is on us what do you think it's like for West Ham?

If we avoid defeat and score they have to score four times against a Hull side with the second best defensive record after Reading. Bearing in mind Hull have won 3 of their last 4 and have conceded 4 only once this season, and that was in August. Also, West Ham have only won by a 3 goal margin at home twice all season!

The pressure is on them to win big, we need to win but a draw may well be good enough. This doesn't take into account how poor Coventry have been all season, have no players, no money, no hope etc oh and we've beaten them twice already this season!!

Having said all that I'm still bloody nervous, can't stop working everything out and just want this win so badly!

COYR!

They managed last night, and came back from a goal down, didnt they ? They have the wind at their backs.

We had one hand on the PL spot for 40-odd mins against Boro and choked.

I say we should lead west ham into a false sense of security...give away two early goals to Coventry...west ham hear the news and, having gone one up themselves, take their foot off the pedal. Then, with 15 minutes to go we bang 2 in to level which doesn't leave west ham enough time to get the extra goals they need.

Trousers, you're a tactical genius

Frankly I think they missed an opportunity to cut back the goal difference by sitting back when they were 2-1 up so we had to win Saturday if they win a tight game. Anyhow what makes you think with their defensive record and recent form think WHU will hammer them by a 3 goal margin?

As for the Middlesborough game that's history now and I thought we were pretty unfortunate not to get a point...

Everyone will be 100% behind the lads on Saturday, it will be a cauldron of noise. Just enough time before the game for a few ales to lubricate the atmosphere. Everything is under our control here, there is no reason to lack confidence. Be patient and the result will come.

I wont be there so my natural impatience and hysteria in such circumstances wont be able to contribute to unsettling the team, but tell the 30K-odd that will be...

No regrets. For every "what if we had just gotten a draw against Boro or Pompey" there's a "what if we hadn't won against West Ham or Leeds or snatched a lucky draw against Reading at Madejski"... it all evens out and the table is there before us. One simple task: win a football game. That's it!
