West Ham are crud at home. 6-0 wins against ghey people aside...

We are at home, against the worst team in the league.

Morgan will be back in the starting line up.

We are 2 ahead on points

We are three ahead on GD

We are 2 ahead on GS

We are ahead on the "head to head"

We are playing a relegated team with no morale left

WH are playing a half decent outfit in Hull

How many more do you need?

Coventry city have the worst away record in the entire football league I believe.

They are without their captain and player of the season.

They are without one of their main midfielders

They no squad depth and their bench was made up of 16 and 17 year olds in the last game.

They will be forced to play 16 and 17 year olds in some positions on Saturday

We have the leagues best player and top goal scorer.

We are 2 pts ahead, better Goal difference and more goals scored

We have the best attacking midfielder in the league

Even when we play badly, we still create chances.

We will have 32,000 fans cheering us on.

Sorted.

Coventry will (hopefully) be already on their holidays. They have nothing to play for.

Our record of bouncing back after a defeat is excellent. Not sure of the exact stats though.

A glance at the table shows that we're second from top while Coventry are second from bottom. That should tell you that we're very good whereas Coventry are very poor. What else do you need to know?

Lambert.
And Lallana, and Fox's sweet left foot delivery, and Hooiveld immense at the back, and Sharp on fire, and Spiderman and everyone else of course

For all his huff and puff he achieves very little.

We're not as good without him. I'd say your discription above relates to De Ridder more than Chaplow.

Coventry have only won 1 of 22 away league games.

Keogh, their player of the season, is suspended.

They won't give a toss.

Southend all over again.

Tbf it applies to both! Chaplow had a cracking start to the season but hasn't been the same since his injury.

We need a proper RM next season, whichever division we're in.

positive points...apart from the obvious that cov are just dire away from home

so many more people can say "they were there to see saints get promoted"

the after game celebrations will be that much better..

what an epic way to do it

Any other opposition might think that WHU being promoted removes more dangerous opposition for next season but Coventry are down and don't need to worry about that. And they didn't like Hammers not beating BC.

Chaplow has the touch of an irate blacksmith..........but that aisde we'll win this game by at least 4 and Sunday will see some of the biggest South Coast hangovers in history.

Cov fan on their injuries:

Our injury situation?

Err mmm. Deegan- injured, Clingan - injured, Hermann - injured, Christie- injured, Wood- injured, Cameron - injured, Bell - injured, Nimely -injured, Keogh - suspended.

they seem quite keen for us to win.

  by the looks of some of those comments I expect most of them to be wearing saints shirts & cheering when we score!!!!

Posted

We've played good football for most of the season, yet we've never turned our superiority into goals...it's about time someone took a massive hammering

....and one from the record books as a reminder - Southampton 8 Coventry 2!!

I make no apology for reposting this from the main buildup thread.

After a day of calming down on the golf course and escaping from this forum, where some of the posts seem to be getting quite hysterical in their panic over what may or may not happen on Saturday, I’ve reflected on the task and:

We have the team to get the job finished with a win. They have the individual and collective skills to beat a Coventry team who’ve lost to us twice this season already

We have the best manager in the Championship to prepare the team psychologically for the game. He will not allow over-confidence nor negativity.

We must have (and will have) a fantastic atmosphere in SMS helping them over the line. That support must stay positive even if things don’t go right from the start and patience is needed.

To those who are getting tense and scared, that’s natural given the prize at stake, but the last thing needed is any collective anxiety being transmitted to the team, and I would be surprised if there aren’t quite a few who look on here, so let’s keep reminding them of our confidence in them.

It’s been an amazing season, and I am confident that with the team, fans and manager working together on Saturday, it will have a happy ending.

I remember that, their CB barrett I think with a volley?

That woke us up to be fair and we tore them a new one in the 2nd half.

I remember their (Sarfind) fans singing 'That's why we're going down' shortly after we'd taken the p*ss with the same song a minute or two earlier when they'd shot high and wide...I'd settle for that score and atmosphere!

I hope Coventry get sorted - they need to get lucky with an owner like we did and start their climb back up. They've never bothered me as a club...reasonably friendly and punching above their weight in a similar way to us in the early days of the PL and before.

My 4 year old son's first game, plus I haven't seen us lose a game in 2 years.

My 2 year old will watch saints for the first time on tv at his grandparents.

Positive points: Why Southampton will be in the Premier League next season.

http://thisisfutbol.com/2012/02/blogs/the-top-five-reasons-why-southampton-f-c-will-be-in-the-premier-league-next-season

I remember reading this in February and I think someone commented that the author is a Saints fan, but nevertheless it's comforting reading before Saturday's game.

If we'd had Tad available it would have been all over 3 or 4 matches ago.

I wonder how they feel about us losing to BC twice? :smug:

In the omens thread my dog flushed out a duck and phesant and 3 partridges. We beat posh (the pheasant), we lost to Boro (the duck), and now we have three partridges coming up against Coventry.
