SO16_Saint Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Just watching the Leicester game, and it.got me to thinking. I can't remember the last time that saints finished mid table with x games to spare, and have nothing to play for, its either been relegation or more lately promotion. I used to wish for mid table mediocrity, but I'd prefer the stress and anxiety over nothingness. That being said, come on you Foxes!
S-Clarke Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 The first season in the championship under Burley, funnily enough our final game of the season was at home to Leicester if i remember right! I'll never forget the FT whistle and the bloke in front of me looking so ecstatic as he said ''WE'VE FINISHED IN THE TOP HALF!!!!"
SO16_Saint Posted 23 April, 2012 Author Posted 23 April, 2012 That's exactly my point, S-Clarke. Te fans, and more importantly the players haven't really got anything to play for, except professional pride - which should be enough. I guess, each place is worth £x to the club, also. Nothing beats a promotion / relegation scrap

If I remember correctly we went on a very poor run after Burley took over and various players (Niemi, Quashie) left in the January window. At one stage it looked like we could've been dragged in to another relegation battle until we got some results over the last 6 or so games..

Yep, a certain Mr Chaplow galvanized our midfield and turned us around.
