As per Alpine's prediction on another thread, would anyone settle for this should we end up in the play offs?

If at the start of the season anyone had said to me we'd end up in the play-offs but get butt-****ed by Cardiff, i would have gladly taken that.....so maybe in the context of the whole season this wouldn't be seen as too much of a bad thing. We'd just better make sure we remember our lube.

Having been in the top 2 for the entire season, dropping out of it and into the play-offs on the last day of the season would be nothing short of a disaster. Sure I would've bitten someone's hand off if they offered that to me at the start of the season. But with the way things have gone, I'd now be devastated if that happened.

Why would anyone settle for being butt ****ed by Cardiff in the play-offs? I would settle for having to go up via the play-offs if we have to - but not to lose to Cardiff in the final or semi-final.

I never understand that whole "if anyone told us at the start of the season" thing.

So much has happened in the 10 months since then. We have spent a **** load on players this season. Fox,cork, jos, sharp,de ridder, lee, etc. Around £6m-£7m on players added to an already talented squad. With the squad we have we should be pushing for promotion and we have been. To do as well as we have all year then to get beat by any of the teams in the playoffs would be massively disappointing. It would be seen as huge failure and would overshadow us next year big time. For everything to remain positive we have to go up this season and we will tonight hopefully.

This.

After being top 2 for 45 games, losing in the play-offs will be viewed by history as nothing short of a complete catastrophe.

Here's an interesting question. If we are butt****ed by Cardiff in the playoffs, would this be the most disastrous ****-up of its kind in recent memory? I seem to remember Wolves snatching defeat from the jaws of victory about 10 years ago...

5 points clear and a better goal difference with 2 games left and home game against an already relegated team? I'd say that would take some topping.
