Noodles34 Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Yes, but who the f**k wants to be promoted like that ??? no, that would be stupid wouldn't it, whats the point eh, should elect to stay down and finish the job properly, instead of doing better than all the other teams bar one.
anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Blimey Leicester were crap. Absolutely no intensity from them at all, how many of their midfielders got a foot in and went in for a 50-50? All in our hands now, if we can't beat Coventry......
alpine_saint Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Stop being West Ham supporters and start being Saints fans.... What a daft comment. You can hardly blame our fans for a fatalistic streak, considering the opportunities we've had to sew this up and blown.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 if we draw 0-0 3-0 will see hammers up! as they will be equal on GD but will have scored one more than us. If we are to draw a high scoring draw is best in that case westham will need to win 4-0
Whitey Grandad Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Yes, but who the f**k wants to be promoted like that ??? Well, if you put it like that... ok, I suppose I'd take it.
Dark Munster Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Yes, but who the f**k wants to be promoted like that ??? I'll happily take it.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 So West Ham kicked away the blind mans stick. Different Leicester to the one we played. Interesting. Anyway, Cov will be on TV now, deep joy. If we **** this up it will ruin my weekend.
shirleysfc Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Coventry are sh1t and have been all season. I'm amazed that some people think that now they're relegated they'll turn in Brazil and beat a team that have one of the best home records in the league in their own back garden.
alpine_saint Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 I appreciate the logic of the 'we would have taken this before the season started' and 'it's still in our hands' etc. But in the context of being in the top two all season, and possibly being out of it only on the last day is still pretty devastating! This.
Wade Garrett Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Man of the match for West Ham - Paul Konchesky.
Dark Munster Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Actually, no points could be enough if W Ham lose. ... or draw.
obelisk Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Sky already talking about the pressure being on Saints. I guess this is going to be the narrative as we approach kick-off on Saturday.
Dalek2003 Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 What a daft comment. You can hardly blame our fans for a fatalistic streak, considering the opportunities we've had to sew this up and blown. That's what I think. If the worst happens will we also blow the play offs ?
S-Clarke Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Man of the match for West Ham - Paul Konchesky. This. A truly inept professional footballer, how he ever made it in the professional game beggars belief.
Nexstar Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Leicester were pretty useless and the Hammers should have had far more than they did. It's comforting to know that it may not be win or bust on Saturday. If we have a score draw and West Ham win 3-0 then we're still up
Dalek2003 Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Coventry are sh1t and have been all season. I'm amazed that some people think that now they're relegated they'll turn in Brazil and beat a team that have one of the best home records in the league in their own back garden. The trouble is it is a 'one off' and anything can happen. That late equaliser by 'them' could curse us yet.
Turkish Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Man of the match for West Ham - Paul Konchesky. I thought Drinkwater played well for them as well. A truely awful player.
HedgeEnder Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Yes, but who the f**k wants to be promoted like that ??? Yep I would, no problem
alpine_saint Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 That's what I think. If the worst happens will we also blow the play offs ? Brum, Blackpool, Cardiff. Take a goosie at our regular season results against them and tell me if you think we will get past 2 of those 3 ? And with our players feeling sorry for themselves ?
St Chalet Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Thatsnks a lot chalet saint. yeh your really great arent you. Yawn
shirleysfc Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 I thought Drinkwater played well for them as well. A truely awful player. Yep, he was terrible!
obelisk Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 The trouble is it is a 'one off' and anything can happen. That late equaliser by 'them' could curse us yet.It is already cursing us. We'd be up if it hadn't been conceded. Oh well. On to Saturday and a comfortable home win.
hackedoff Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 A victory for the team who got the ball forward quickly against the side that played sideways and backward football, just like us against Boro. Play like that against Coventry and we will deserve all that coming to us.
Raging Bull Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Man of the match for West Ham - Paul Konchesky. what did he do?
Dark Munster Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 So one point will be enough as long as West Ham don't do better than 3-0. Not quite. One point will only be enough as long as West Ham don't do better than a 2 goal win. If we draw they need to win by a 3 goal margin and score 3 more goals than us. 0-0 to us then they need to win 3-0 or better to go up. 1-1 to us and they need to win 4-1 or better to go up, etc.
saintant Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 No pressure on West Ham then? Am I missing something here? Why does everyone keep saying all the pressure is on us? Has anyone compared the home records? West Ham would be better off if their final game was away. We will beat Coventry comfortably on Saturday and West Ham may not even win against Hull - look at their home record which is pants. Too may panicking on here when we should still be very confident.
HedgeEnder Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Brum, Blackpool, Cardiff. Take a goosie at our regular season results against them and tell me if you think we will get past 2 of those 3 ? And with our players feeling sorry for themselves ? Don't need to because we are going up in 2nd place HTH
bender Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Who goes up if we draw and wet spam win 3-0 If we draw 0-0, Wham do on goals scored. If we draw 1-1, we do on head to head. Obviously its us also if we draw 2-2
Minsk Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 (edited) There really are some big girl's blouses on here tonight. Whilst I was hoping for a last minute equaliser, I also am happy that we can secure promotion ourselves on the last day of the season in front of a full house at St. Mary's. To me, that is how a promotion should be sealed. NOT with the press saying we are up because WHam failed!! We will win on Saturday, and will do so comfortably. Rickie needs a hat-trick for 30 league goals!!!!!!! Edited 23 April, 2012 by Minsk
ThreeSixty Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Sky already talking about the pressure being on Saints. I guess this is going to be the narrative as we approach kick-off on Saturday. All the pressure is on Saints.
sandwichsaint Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Actually, no points could be enough if W Ham lose. Only question is how many they will win by .... I'm going for 4-0. We have to win, and I think we will ... 3-0!
S-Clarke Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 what did he do? Demonstrated that he isn't, and never was, a professional football player.
egreog Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Frankly, if Saints can't beat Coventry then West Ham deserve the automatic place. If they are not "up for it" against an already relegated side then the Premiership would be far too great a leap anyhow. What will be , will be
Rasiak-9- Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Who goes up if we draw and wet spam win 3-0 They do unless ours is a score draw! We have the edge on goals scored by 2. Here's a question though; what happens if we draw 1-1 and they win 3-0? Head to head or games won? Both of which we fortunately have an edge in.

This. Whams only recent home win was against a Brighton side whom Eastleigh would have beaten.
SaintSteve Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 What a daft comment. You can hardly blame our fans for a fatalistic streak, considering the opportunities we've had to sew this up and blown. Only people with a negative mind set whinge on about blown opportunities. We have no divine right to win every game and if we do not beat Coventry we don't deserve to go up automatically anyway.
Dark Munster Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 That's what I think. If the worst happens will we also blow the play offs ? Being in the top 2 all season, and then dropping out on the last day would be a massive psychological blow entering the playoffs. Not good preparation against 3 other teams who are on a high just being there.
Didcot Saint Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Coventry are sh1t and have been all season. I'm amazed that some people think that now they're relegated they'll turn in Brazil and beat a team that have one of the best home records in the league in their own back garden. Football is a funny game and they have no pressure on them and will probably throw in a few youngsters with a point to prove
Glasgow_Saint Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Most disappointed ive been after winning £165!!!
Plumstead_Saint Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 I appreciate the logic of the 'we would have taken this before the season started' and 'it's still in our hands' etc. But in the context of being in the top two all season, and possibly being out of it only on the last day is still pretty devastating! This explains exactly how I feel.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 So how do West Ham go on Saturday if they hear we have taken the lead? Lots of reasons to be optimistic about the outcome at the weekend. The Press will obviously big it up for all its worth. Need to keep a close eye on the ref as well - West Ham have friends in high places.
doggface Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Frankly, if Saints can't beat Coventry then West Ham deserve the automatic place. If they are not "up for it" against an already relegated side then the Premiership would be far too great a leap anyhow. What will be , will be Totally true. Listen, we could not possibly have a better fixture.
Dark Munster Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 They do unless ours is a score draw! We have the edge on goals scored by 2. Here's a question though; what happens if we draw 1-1 and they win 3-0? Head to head or games won? Both of which we fortunately have an edge in. Head to head
Glasgow_Saint Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Why do we think Coventry will come out fighting while Hull will just roll over?
LeBenali Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 To all the people thinking Coventry are all of a sudden going to turn into Barcelona...on the flip side, Hull also have nothing to play for at West Ham, what's stopping them having a go at West Ham and getting a result?
Dr Who? Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 So IF we do not go up top 2 we may have to visit the riverside again!
OttawaSaint Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 West ham have the edge on Goals scored already, they have 2 more than us, so all they need do is make up the 3 goal goal difference. 3-0 would be enough or any combination of a 3 goal win.
Whitey Grandad Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Totally true. Listen, we could not possibly have a better fixture. As I posted elsewhere, If we had played Coventry earlier in the season then we would probably already been promoted.
