The Leicester Vs West Ham Match Thread

I suggest we all watch something else on TV, turn off the PC, iPads, mobiles and then just turn on SSN at 9.40. That is what I am doing. Cannot stand it anymore. Its the hope that hurts so much - we cannot affect or control it.

Think this is the best policy.

I bet you won't be able to resists a sneeky peek now and then. I am right aren't I?

Just hope Leicester don't do a Brighton.
In a kinda perverse way, would that be such a bad thing? If it happens, you could put a positive spin on it by knowing that only one result is good enough - a WIN. GD would be no good. Imagine going into the last 5 minutes not knowing if a draw will do or that you need a win...not knowing whether to stick or twist? It happens - remember when we played Wimbledon at home in the last game and Man City played Liverpool. City had a 2-2 score line, and held on to it grimly under the illusion that it was enough when it actual fact they needed a winner.

That said, I hope if WH win it is only by 1-0 ;)

I've backed a Wet Sham win - given my recent run that should guarentee promotion for us.

Me too. Stand to win a small fortune (for me) if West Ham win - but I couldn't give a stuff about the money so long as Leicester win or draw. YES, it would be nice for us to have to win it at St Marys on Saturday, but I'd be much more comfortable (and there'd be a much better party atmosphere for you lucky lot going) if West Hams challenge ended tonight.

While Leicester haven't got anything to play for, I still think they'd want to play this game as if they were the title favourites that they were at the start of the season. The two biggest underachievers in the league fighting it out to see if the biggest overachievers can get promoted! I'll be watching.

Apart from the fact that the law of averages is now on your side ;)

I have backed them also - but I have no recent betting history to indicate whether or not my bet will bear fruit.

I am taking for granted that West Ham will win and we'll need to beat Coventry on saturday. We shouldn't rely on other clubs to get us out of jail, we have to do it ourselves.

This is the best way to approach it. West Ham are in decent form, so are leicester but you have to assume the Hammers will win.

Hope the Hammers win which makes Saturday's game a cracker. Would be a good test of the bottle too, cause too often we've s**t it when the pressure is on (or is it that it just appears that way? :) ).

Will be watching tonight and hoping for a good goalfest with Leicester having f/a to play for and the Hammers as nervous as Dune at a Labour Party conference.

I am expecting a WHU win, but hoping they'll bottle it again like they have done all season.

Away from home their form has been good though. They had some pretty much must win away games and have gone and done the business easily...Blackpool with a midfielder in goal in the 2nd half and Barnsley too.

Carlton Cole is 50-50 tonight - would be good if he missed out.

Yer but when we had out blip, they should have gone above us by quite a few points, once they were top they should have stayed there, when they were at home and been able to put breathing space between them and 3rd, they didn't, and the other week at Bristol City they had to win and handed us 2nd (hopefully). Just the fact that we have also bottled it the last few weeks.

WE WILL BE OK.

I will try this but you can bet I will not be able to stand it and will be checking every 30 seconds

Have put money on a West Ham win (Reading and Portsmouth stuttered at the weekend thanks to my bets) so hopefully the trend will continue.

I'll also avoid watching/listening the match at all costs .

That should cover it.

.

To be fair we had a very competitive Huddersfield shadowing us in 3rd last year until the last but one game. So we do seem to be able to handle it. It's just we seem to make a meal out of doing so!!

Anyway the second part of that very dark Silent Witness is on tonight, so whatever I watch it will be from behind the Sofa!!!:D

Leicester are a good side. Shame there's nothing but pride to play for tonight, but on a normal day, they are not easy to beat, especially at KP. Just look at our game up there. Done up because we had our eye off the ball. If West Ham fall victim to any similar lapses, could be game over very quickly.

Probably be fitting that someone else's result gets us promoted, too. Seem to have sh*t our pants every time we've had the chance to decide for ourselves.

I wonder what the actual stats are for a game where one team needs to win and the other has nothing to play for?

I always remember the Fulham v Norwich game from a few years back. Norwich had to win to stay up. They took 1000's to Craven Cottage. The bookies had slashed Norwich to odds-on to win. What could go wrong v Fulham who had long since started to book their summer holidays? Fulham won 6-0.

Leicester are no mugs. The home crowd will be up for it. If you can't go up yourself then stopping someone else from doing so is the next best thing. I'm quietly confident that Saints will clinch promotion tonight.

Things are not that easy for West Ham, because even if they win tonight they know Saints can still secure promotion at home against a relegated side. I am sure BFS would have preferred to rest some players, blood some others and get in perfect shape for what looks like the inevitable play offs. The longer all this goes on, the greater the let down is going to be when it's all decided and it would not surprise me if that did not have a major effect for the coming play offs. If we have to go into the play offs I would not give ourselves much of a chance. Getting over that disappointment so late in the day and giving players minimal rest will come as a massive disappointment as Huddersfield found last season.

If West Ham fail to go up by automatic promotion it would not surprise me that BFS wished he had just let that option go, because the psychological effect so late in the day could easily have a knock on effect for the play offs. I know he or any team has got to keep going and not give up on the automatic but I bet he wished it was a lot simpler.

Watch the ref in this game, will be some strange decisions to keep the season alive for Sky at the weekend.

If you go on the footballisfixed blog it mentions WHU have been remarkably lucky with referees decisions this season. One certain ref has given zero penalties in The Championship except for three for WHU.

Don't tell me he's the ref tonight :scared:

So tempted to put a bet on for west ham to win just to soften the blow but just can't bet against my wishes.

precisely what i've just done, £20 on West Ham to win. They win, nothings changed we still have it in our own hands and i have a little bit of beer money for Saturday. They lose, £20 to get us promoted? I'll take them apples

Unfortunatley I can only see a West Ham win tonight and a comfortable one at that.

Leicester 0 West Ham 3

Therefore we will need to win against Cov to guarantee promotion. Pressure will be on but to be honest if we can't beat Cov at home then we don't deserve 2nd place.
