If we get promoted will we have bus tour around city?

Reading booked one before winning the league, thanks partly to us of course, the day after they were promoted.

Norwich and Swansea both did it last year, dont know about QPR.

Even Bournemouth did it ffs when they went up a few years back.

Lets hope we are in a position this time next week to find out for real wether we do or not !!

Don't think we will.

If we won the league then maybe, but having an open top parade for coming 2nd is a little OTT.

I don't think Cortese is the kind of guy to go for Open top bus parades either.

Maybe when we win the champions league...

The Civic leaders have offered one on Sunday either for Champions or just being promoted. It was in the Echo yesterday.

If 55,000 can rock up to Wembley for a 3rd division cup final I would imagine quite a few might just step out onto the streets to cheer the lads for the season.

Why? What have we won? We have won nothing this year. If we get promoted, I will be really happy, but (as is written above) bus tours are for winners.

We will have WON promotion to the Premiership wont we ? We wont have gone up by sneaking through the back door, two teams WIN promotion automatically, we should be one of them, therefore we are winners.

What a miserable lot of sods you are

We are bigger than this. Tin pot clubs do this sort of thing. Even winning the league I am not sure, but I think the club would have.

Surely Reading will not sing Champions to anyone in the premier league, they will get laughed at. Saying this, they will sing it to us!

I don't think we should do a bus tour around the whole city for promotion, when we win the FA Cup, Premier League title or Champions League then fair enough, the whole city would be good (-: I reckon an open top bus around the city centre would suffice ie starting at St Mary's along New Road with a diversion through the parks and up past yates's then left and then right towards the Guildhall a couple of speeches on the Guildhall steps would be ok. The council could possibly lay on other attractions to make it a special evening or day, hopefully loads of fans of all ages would turn up, lets hope whenever it is that the weather is good and not like it has been the last week!!!

I would imagine the thinking behind the offer from the City for the bus tour is simply down to the fact that if Saints are in the Prem then the Advertising for the City is priceless seeing as we will be on the TV throughout the world every week.

When we were relegated I recall a piece somewhere about how much it would cost the City in lost future revenue from companies home and abroad looking to locate and invest in the City and it's surroundings. So you can see the thinking why Norwich did it last year and Southampton City council is offering it this year.

'If' we get promoted then yes for me.

Agree it would be better if we were champions.

But i would go based on a 2 year achievement (not 1), for 2 successive promotions which the management and players would deserve alot of credit for.

No need for a bus tour round the city. That's for when you bring something back.

The players and staff deserve our thanks and I've thought of a rather old fashioned way to do it. People stay/go back to their seats and then the players, and staff do a lap of honour,in front of 30,000 Saints fans.
