CanadaSaint Posted 21 April, 2012 Share Posted 21 April, 2012 DD, why do you need to resort to such an infantile approach when people – Saints fans, just like you – express concerns about the way the team played or about decisions made or not made by the manager? You took a run at me after I expressed some concerns following the Barnsley game about us not getting the ball forward fast enough – not all the time but some of the time, especially when we are fielding players who need the early ball. That day it was Lee but since then it’s been De Ridder. I said that the weakness didn’t cost us against Barnsley but that it might against better teams. Since then we’ve had lots of the ball but failed to score the key goals in four out of five games – that’s what happens when you take a long time to build attacks. During that vital time we’ve gone 1W, 1D and 3L. In three of those games we’ve conceded open-play goals from the "D" on the edge of the box. It’s basic stuff to defend the D when they have the ball and attack the D when we have it, but we don’t do either very well. What should have been a comfortable championship has become a bum-squeaking fight for second place. Why can’t you accept that people – Saints fans, just like you – can hold valid concerns without deserving to be called “wet fannies”? Why can't you accept that we can like the team and the manager a whole lot, but not be blind to some areas that may need improvement? I have no problem with you disagreeing, especially if you offer a counter view, but the sneering is needless and childish.
Frank's cousin Posted 21 April, 2012 Share Posted 21 April, 2012 Alps - we have risen some 42 league places in under two seasons since Adkins took over with a squad that is not the best in world but a is reasonably good Championship standard, through graft, team spirit and a desire to play a open passing game, that will always leave a side open to defeats along the way. Now as dissapointed as everyone is about todays result, we still have the destiny of this season in our own hands - thats over 45 games - it in our hands to go up automatically against the odds at the start of the season. Calling it a f uck up before the event is throwing in the towel, exactly what you are are accusing the squad of doing... dont you see the irony in that? If we dont go up it, like must I will be fricken dissapointed, and yes next season would be a challenge to match this, given the likely hangover from such a situation, but you simply cant say that this side has not beaten all expectation over the seaosn and as a result it certainly deserves our support and respect for what they have achieved to date, let alone for what we should achieve next weekend. Because anyone who believes the championship would be an easy ride to glory, even when we have been there or thereabouts all season is naive in the extreame - IT was always going to be tight and as good as the team is, its not the best, despite the pretty football. We are where we are because we strated on fire and got ourselves ahead whilst the others got their act together and its been far more even since - Sides BATTLE more in this division so thsoe who feel we should have simply strolled over teh line against a side who had been given a massive boost by the cardiff result, at home and in 7th place are also misguided,... sorry. Yes its a test of character and committment, but we cant simply dismiss the side a 'gutless' when we have seen them bounce back after many a dissapointment - I believe we will get the job done whatever WHU do, but the assumption that it would be easy is disrrespectful to the qulaity in the division... and WHU are where they are because of exactly that arrogance. alpine_saint Posted 21 April, 2012 Share Posted 21 April, 2012 DellDays, Daren W et al are cowards and bullies (as everyone knows, the two fit perfectly well together). They get away with abusing dissenting voices with crude language, knowing fully well it is almost impossible for the targets of their vitriol to strike back should such enlightened minds and over-loud opinions as theirs get proven hillariously and ridiculously wrong, for example, on the last day of the season, because the people doing so will be labelled as "I told you sos" and accused of revelling in the disaster that will be failure to secure auto promotion, and will then get even MORE abuse from a wider community. As I said, pathetic cowardice. The sort of qualities that the Royal Navy nowadays looks for when manning patrol boats in the Gulf, just in case Iranian gun-boats take a shine to them....
