S-Clarke Posted 22 April, 2012 Posted 22 April, 2012 Just seen that Coventry city's CB - Keogh got sent off in the last game, so that's their player of the season out for our game. They only have a 16 year old kid that can replace him.

I of course do not expect the team to have the same attitude as me. The only question for me is if it will be over tomorrow evening, and again I can see the hammers losing and at best getting a draw.

Don't get your hopes up for tomorrow....it will only lead to a horrible deflated feeling when WHU win comfortably, which I think they will. We will need to do the biz on Saturday.

Think about it this way, turn the tables, would you be thinking West Ham would not beat Coventry? While we were at home to Hull.

Think about it this way, turn the tables, would you be thinking West Ham would not beat Coventry? While we were at home to Hull. Nope - fair point, they are hoping for alot to happen in order for them to finish 2nd - the fixtures have fallen very nicely for us it has to be said. This week will drag though, I just want to be there on Saturday to experience what is going to be a pretty big moment in our history.
Lighthouse Posted 22 April, 2012 Posted 22 April, 2012 Leicester have nothing to play for. West Ham will win. We should do the business against Coventry, but this is Saints. We never do things the easy way.
Dr Who? Posted 22 April, 2012 Posted 22 April, 2012 Just also noticed this what is a good sign going into the last 2 games. It is West Ham last 18 games. WLWDWDWDDDDDWLWDWD. Now in these 18 games what have they failed to do. This is not just for tomorrows game.

Glasgow_Saint Posted 22 April, 2012 Posted 22 April, 2012 You can ge odds of 7/4 on a WH win........ £50 on this will sweaten the result

Dr Who? Posted 22 April, 2012 Posted 22 April, 2012 Seems like the bookies cannot choose between them. Going to be a good watch. I think that Leicester will at least get a draw, but if not on to a home game with Cov.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 22 April, 2012 Posted 22 April, 2012 generous odds really. Yep tempted to go bigger than £50!
Surrey Saint Posted 22 April, 2012 Posted 22 April, 2012 Leicester are 10th at the moment, the best finish they could hope for would be 8th. Arguably they've got less to prove or to play for than Coventry who may well be up for doing a number on the Championship's 2nd best side to sign off from the C'ship on a (kind of), high. Leicester's players won't want to risk injury by giving it their all tomorrow night or in their final game. I'm sure they'll be professional and play to win but West Ham must be hungrier, more urgent and will in all probability be half a yard quicker to the second ball. I will be mightily surprised if they don't win. So what? We have a second team who ought to be able to beat Coventry (even on a bad day), let alone the team who've turned out for Saints in the last few weeks. I expect I'll feel a bit down tomorrow about 9.45 but that's because I will know then that I have to spend the best part of a week thinking about Saturday 12.30pm, when I shall be hundreds of miles away wiythout radio, tv or internet access. Whenever I get to hear the result I am confident it'll be a resounding Saints win (and I say this even as a supporter of several decades and many disappointments - even in the face of the evidence optimism runs deep).
mirrorcarp Posted 22 April, 2012 Posted 22 April, 2012 Yep tempted to go bigger than £50!I have today put £100 on a west ham win at 13/8. My record at betting is truly appalling and hopefully I will lose every penny.
kpturner Posted 22 April, 2012 Posted 22 April, 2012 You can ge odds of 7/4 on a WH win........ £50 on this will sweaten the resultI am going for a £250 bet I think. I will certainly sweat during the game - no doubt.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 22 April, 2012 Posted 22 April, 2012 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17724582 Sounds even better. Reading that it mentions that Leicester haven't lost at home since Barnsley beat them in January. If I remember correctly, the Barnsley player that tore the Foxes a new one that day was Ricardo Vaz Te- who now of course is scoring regularly for West Ham. For what its worth I agree with Monk's comment that Butterfield and Guly can't play together. Yesterday you had Guly stood out on the wing pretty much on the half way line and Butterfield stood still 5 yards behind him, with no one progressing into the huge amount of space down the wing into 'Borough's half. When Richardson plays, he runs past Guly and gets to the byline. I'd therefore player Frazer and Guly on the right.
Dr Who? Posted 22 April, 2012 Posted 22 April, 2012 Cannot believe Barnsley got rid of him, as they were flying at the time. Gray got both the goals for Barnsley but yes Vaz Te had a great game. The team on Sat will be interesting, but I think Guly will start with Chappers out.

I might be wrong on this, but I think Drinkwater got one for Barnsley (or he might have set one up...?) - where he was on loan at the time. A week later Leicester signed him permanently and he's now a fixture in their midfield.
hamster Posted 22 April, 2012 Posted 22 April, 2012 Chaplow did a Hammy so I reckon Guly will start. A 'Hammy'. He sure did but in 'my' crucial game our manager ,big fat phil', didn't f up his substation and we went on to win. I would also like my style to Chaplow's, I take that as a compliment. Chewers maaate.
hamster Posted 22 April, 2012 Posted 22 April, 2012 ......furthermore, the ref that day was crap like yesterday, baj should have been sent off for his diving antics.
Frank's cousin Posted 22 April, 2012 Posted 22 April, 2012 With apologies to Rudyard.... IF we can get it on Rickie’s head from open play, and fans stop Shouting at ‘Fonte’ and blaming it on you, If you can trust Nige when some fannies doubt him, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, for promotion, and don't deal in lies, Or players being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet look good, to claim the prize: If you can dream - and not make dreams your master; If you can think - and not make misery your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by fannies to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken, And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools: If you count the points from all our winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breathe a word about your loss; If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except our Nige who says to them: 'Hold on!' If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, ' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch, if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you, If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving 90 minutes With songs ' Oh when the Saints go marching In’, Yours is the Prem and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll no longer be a fanny, son!
Glasgow_Saint Posted 22 April, 2012 Posted 22 April, 2012 I am going for a £250 bet I think. I will certainly sweat during the game - no doubt. Go big or go home! £1,000 = £2750 back if WHU win!!

Dark Munster Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 I've been convinced that we'd **** this up for quite some time and part of me still thinks we're not going up automatically. My pessimisim comes from years of being let down by Saints. This games got a draw written all over it, by which time WHU will have won both of their remaining fixtures convincingly. Cov have nothing to play for so the pressure will be off and they'll probably put in one of their best performances of the season. We seem to struggle under pressure. I can see us conceeding early, playing them off the park, wasting numerous chances and managing to grab an equaliser late on. I'll be more than happy to eat a huge slice of humble pie if we do go up and deep down I'm praying that we will. However, this is Saints that we're talking about. I find it's always good to expect to be disappointed and then anything above that is a massive bonus. A 1-1 draw for us means West Ham have to win their last 2 matches by a margin of 4 goals, and score at least 5 in doing so. Even a pessimist must fancy Saints in that situation. After all, Leicester and Hull have nothing to play for so the pressure will be off and they'll probably put in one of their best performances of the season.
dubai_phil Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Aargh. No not the hangover from the Stag weekend but the horror at discovering a downside to this new Saints Dubai Massive we have generated these last weeks. With so many fans down here now demand for flights back to the UK at the weekend has gone NUTS. BA now want 2,000 POUNDS for an ECONOMY ticket & everyone else is full up. FFS Looks like I may have to fly home via Azerbaijan Airways or some such horrors. (Oh & I blame Eric again for Saturday - told him the match thread needed cute chicks in Bavarian costumes not Nuns) What date is the Play Off final?

stev2001 Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 Link to the old bbc championship predictor if anyone wants to go through a few scenarios http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/predictor/default.stm Gets interesting as goals scored could (however i think we will win against cov) play a big part If west ham win 1-0 against leicester and we draw 0-0 against cov then they would need 4 against hull however if they win 2-1 against leicester then they only need 3 against hull. All that said I can't see us not scoring against cov

brett24 Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 I put a whopping £6 on a West Ham win, there is no way West Ham will blow there chance tonight. It's going to the last game and it's going to be a nervous day, trust me. If the unthinkable happens and we finish 3rd, we need to look forward to the playoffs and potentially a trip to Wembley, which we will win if we avoid Blackpool.
fanimal Posted 23 April, 2012 Posted 23 April, 2012 We have just had 5 games in 15 days; the required average of 2 points per game, 10, we were shy by 3 points, mostly due to 3 screamers from 3 truly ugly footballers punching way above their weight! Hey ho boys get rested, recovered and rejuvenated for the truly MUST WIN game the BIGGEST and MOST IMPORTANT for a season. My emotions have recovered just about enough to be able to type now, stopped shaking....
