Coventry build up thread

Recommended Posts

FFS I dreamed we lost 3-0 and then later that we lost 2-1 feck this waiting for a game of soldiers.
Hey, your dream results are improving each time. Take that as a good sign!

14 pages!

Is this the longest build-up thread ever seen on SWF?

It must be, and it will only get longer.

Supporters versus nerves. This is the crucial underlying battle that could determine the result.

WE somehow must not let on-pitch nerves get to us all in the stands. Or in-the-stands nervousness get to the players.

At all times, if we can keep up a barrage of noise - the noisiest ever - throughout the WHOLE game - the players will do the job!

Even when mistakes are made - as will happen - keep up the noise! Positivity!!!

Why such a negative bench? None of those players are likely to change a game if we need a goal, I'd want De Ridder in for Harding and Barnard for Connolly, who isn't fit and rarely changes a game.

My team prediction is not what I'd like to see but what I think Nigel will play. I think he will go cautious, with 2 defenders and one MF as subs. I don't think he'll risk going without a GK on the bench and that although he will expect to win my guess is he'll be happy with a 2 goal lead and be desperate not to lose. I agree that if Connolly is still injured it will be Barnard on the bench. I suppose he could, go for SDR on the bench instead of Connolly/Barnard and move Guly up front if he needs to replace a striker, but I am expecting him to go for a negative bench as he'll see that as a positive way to get the win. We don't need a hatful of goals, nice as that would be.

would be nice to do to Coventry what West Ham did to Brighton recently in the first 10 minutes to ease everyones nerves. COYRS

Your nipper will have to practice his sad face if that happens or he'll be out of a job Dave.

just got off the phone to him Dave...They know that its a tall order to expect Coventry to do them a favour but as always they will go out to win the game against Hull and put as much pressure on us as possible and if we win and they win at least they are in a good run of form for the play-offs. The Bristol game away is the one where they had enough chances to have won the game twice over and they get undone by a long range hopeful shot that Green would have save 9 times out of 10. As for his job as everyone knows in football no matter what happens nobodys job is safe. Lots of family conflicts at the moment as you can imagine. We want him to do well but not tomorrow, leave it for them to get through in the play-offs.

I think we will win also I think there will be a number of goals so if there is a draw it will be high scoring game although I can't see it.

Exactly 28 years ago on saturday we beat coventry 8- 2 , its an omen :)

That was the first game i was allowed to go to with just my mates and no parents. Happy days.

Will be a cracker tomorrow. Really looking forward to it, just hope the atmosphere isn't ruined by all the pansies in the crowd ponying themselves everytime Cov pass the halfway line. Judging by the majority of comments on this forum though, i suspect they will be in the majority. :(

If this game is not 0-0 at half time i'll be surprised. Expecting to be put through the wringer but come out ok at the end.

That being said wouldn't it be great it Cranie conceded a penalty in the first minute. Certainly settle my nerves.

Like the first minute goal at Boro you mean? No thanks. If we get one in the first minute, I won't be happy unless we get another three in the next 20!

Coventry's objective seems to be getting exposure to their 'Sisu out' campaign. They're rightfully annoyed at the continuous media sympathy of Pompey and not themselves.

As a Coventry player, I'm not sure I would be too galvanized when all you hear from your own fans is this rather than them getting behind your team.

Well am actually Buzzing for this game even tho it's the last one of the Season if we don't make the Play Offs as I'm staying

optimistic and that come this time tomorrow that we'l be celebrating Promotion back to the Big Time where we Belong and I can

see West Ham screw up and draw at home 1-1 to Hull and that we'l do it and Win 3/4-0 and Go Up But we'l see!!!

Scoring wise I think it'l be Lambert, Lalanna and Sharp/Hooiveld for Saints which would be Good But we'l see!!!

Have got most of my family coming to this and my brothers friends n that aswell and have got my Mum a ticket as it's her

Birthday tomorrow aswell so hopefully she can see Saints Go Up aswell!!!

COYR!!! :D

I am beginning to feel physically sick with nerves, tomorrow can't come any quicker! I have just had a reassuring text from a mate however which definitely applies for me, and probably quite a few on here too.

'Your concern for the worst is clouding your judgement. Don't worry, we're win'. So I'm going to drink to that tonight and try and remain as calm as I can about tomorrow.

So lets unite the 32,300 fans by singing SISU out before the match starts. Full battle cry. Then continue that noise for 90 minutes with the greatest celebration that St Mary's has ever seen. This is our destiny. Shame that my family and I couldn't be there this time. Have fun everyone we will be celebrating long and hard after this one.

p.s. I am expecting a final game similar to the one against Southend to get into the play offs. Do you remember? 0-1 and then 4-1.

In Saints we trust

You're saying they're long over due an away win...? ;-)

Not at all... their last away win was only 4 weeks ago, so if anything they're due another long period without an away win :-)

Of course, the one rather frightening fact about that away win, was that they beat Hull!

The alternative is to turn into a pathetic sad act like some of the queens on here.

We're playing relegated Cov' at home, not Man City away. Forgive me if I don't wet myself with fear at the prospect.

It's not about fear, I think a lot of people aren't counting their chickens away from the forum and are bringing that attitude to the forum. Afterall we all know that if we lose there's gonna be some sh/t coming our way from fans of other clubs, so it's just a case of keeping it low key until we've actually done it.
