Coventry build up thread

We've never had a better chance of getting promoted to the Premier League.

We have the best home record in the league, and we're playing (at home) against the team with the worst away record. A team who have just been relegated and have a squad decimated by injury and suspension.

I'm going 3-0 Saints, but it'll be nervy for 70 mins

Isn't that your third different score prediction... the 1st with a Saints win!

The fans can say what they like but the lack of comment by NA is exactly the strategy to employ before a big match. NA can fire up the players in the confines of the club but play humble role publicly. We don't want to give Coventry any reason to play with pride.

Interestingly we have achieved the best results with Hammond in central midfield. Ignoring the six games that the three central midfielders played together and managed a paltry 5 points in 6 games I have noted the results that have been achieved by the pairs. Cork and Hammond started the season off well and their record is 16 11 2 3, Cork and Schneiderlin

16 8 4 4, Hammond and Schneiderlin 7 5 2 0.

Cork and Hammond's games scored 2.4 for and 1 against, Cork and Schneiderlin 1.6 for and 0.9 against, Hammond and Schneiderlin 1.9 for and 1 against.

Individually Hammond averaged 2.2 whilst Cork and Schneiderlin averaged 2. Defensively the three pairings averaged a goal a game against but the Cork Hammond partnership outscored by a third.

Just on the records it looks like the Hammond Cork partnership is the most effective overall but Hammond and Schneiderlin over 7 games only is the best results record but not free scoring.

True but you can't control what the national media says or writes. Watch Thorn's pre-match interview and he's seriously p**sed off by the lack of respect some are showing his team.

I really can't wait and of course all the signs are that we'll win. That's the nub of my problem though - there's too many thinking it's going to be a stroll in the park, but I reckon Coventry are not going to be as bad as some think and they'll be surprisingly difficult to break down. I just hope Nigel has what it takes to get them into the right frame of mind and ensure they spend the entire game chasing down every ball and closing down any advance near our pen area.

It'll not be a big scoring game IMO - IF we win, it'll be by a very nervy single goal I'll wager. It's probably going to be 1-1...if we're lucky.

And I'm concerned about Fonte fouling in the box, giving away a pen and worse still getting sent off. Or Spiderman making some rash challenges as he gets too much of an adrenelin kick. I can just see it happening - the ref has an awful record for giving out cards. Mark my words, they'll be falling over if the wind picks up!

You know what, if I'm really honest, it won't be the end of World by any stretch of the imagination if we don't go up auto. Or indeed if we don't go up atall actually. I'll still be enjoying going to see Saints with my mates, soaking up the atmos, having a beer after the match, etc. etc. But without the plastics. Still feel sick thinking about Saturday for some reason though! :scared:

Who is showing him a lack of respect? If anything they are being shown too much respect by one and all, including the media building the game up. I think he should have a lot more to worry about his club/future than that.

What is obvious is Sam Allardyce is clutching at straws big time. His team is two points behind going into the game 3 goals worse off against a pretty fair Hull team that now will be stirred up by the Allardyce spin. One win at home in the last seven is not exactly the sort of form that would have a manager seeing his team as a shoe in for three points.

I think he is full of bombast and is just carrying on the self delusion that has been coming out of WHU all season. WHU will be first, everybody else also rans, Then Southampton to blow up, then Reading to blow up, now Southampton again and guess what? who blew it?

We are just quietly going about our business and leaving the speculation to the media and WHU. Coventry are being bigged up for TV but they are in for an examination like nothing they have faced this season in a one off cup final that only one side can come out with anything.

We will give Coventry respect and then give it everything to win the game.

A poster on a Coventry forum:

"We will have a 17/18 year old playing CB making his first start for the club as all our defence are either injured/suspended or out on loan. On top of that we will probably have another 4 players under the age of 21, our captain is injured and our vice captain suspended, so are chances are near to none."

Yussssss.

Davis

Butterfield Fonte Hooiveld Fox

Guly Morgan Cork Lallana

Sharp Lambert

Bart Harding Martin Hammond Connolly

Why such a negative bench? None of those players are likely to change a game if we need a goal, I'd want De Ridder in for Harding and Barnard for Connolly, who isn't fit and rarely changes a game.

From his interview on their version of player, he certainly thinks elements are doing him down - whether its some gobsh*te on talksport, a persecution complex or something else, f**k knows.

This game will be 1-1 ....

at some time. whether they score a shock opener or a hard earned equaliser, just make sure we all get behind the team at that moment. No anxious silence or moaning that spreads to the players on the pitch. Just sing your hearts out, and you know ....

we will end up winning.

To all of you lucky enough to be going......enjoy the moment.

calm down my pretty ones - it is already set in stone...banish those nerves.

There is nothing WE can change, and we don't need to.

We saw it in him the day he appeared, we've celebrated the fact in song for three years.

You cannot argue against fate.

Tomorrow, Rickie will take us to the Premier League.

That means that WHU have to win by 4. I think Hull will score at least once whatever the result. If they don't it could be a fairly low scoring game. I think we will win anyway.

Just want the day to come now. I have dreamt about this match almost every night this week, with a combination of outcomes. Weirdest one was last night - in fact had about 3 different dreams about it last night - where we lost 0-3, yet still went up!!

Roll on Saturday!!
