Coventry build up thread

Recommended Posts

If we dont beat a team already relegated to Div 1, then our team is clearly not yet good enough for the Premiership.

We've had some good last days - recently v Everton and Sheffield United immediately spring to mind.

COYR, one more massive effort.

What if we lose against a team already relegated to league one and still get automatic promotion. Best promotion party ever :/

Surely we won't cock up the final game in front of a sell out crowd - but then this is Saints.

We don't deserve this for ***k sake. We are loyal, we are strong; we are the only team in Hampshire, so why do we always have to go through all this ****?

I'm not sure I can take much more of this, the hope, the expectation the looking-on-the-bright-side of defeats. But at last we reach the final game and all we need do is win, - against a demoralised, relegated side. What could be simpler . . . .

Unfortunately for me I'll be in Italy for an in-laws family gathering. Village in the north. No television, no radio. Have to rely on iPhone for updates - if there's an internet signal.

Strangely have a feeling of relief along with regret I can't be at SMS. Possibly by the time I get to hear the outcome it will all be over - no minute by minute ups and downs, no heart in mouth moments, no looking at the progress of other games.

I'll miss it.

(reply to KK the 2nd: "you can always back Cov at 7/1 with Skybet ... waste of money though! " ) Yep, I don't know much about betting, but a poster on another thread was talking about 'consolation money' which got me thinking that I'm surprised they don't push that more as a psychological service for fans that think that way. If you put money on it both ways for every outcome: on Saints win or draw AND on a Coventry win, how much would you really be risking, and how much consolation money could you get? (Southampton 1/3, Draw 7/2, Coventry 7/1) Gutted today but think we will still go up. Just wondering...

Today's result was all too predictable!

Yes it was.

As were the derby games

As was the Reading game

Connection ? Big games, important to the club and fans

Conclusion ? Glass-jawed chokers

Prognosis for Coventry game and promotion based on trend ? You have to say, not good. Have to hope Leicester make it irrelevant before then.

Why do you claim to SUPPORT Southampton FC ?

OK just tried to calculate that, and it seems "waste of money" -- Skybet: Southampton 1/3, Draw 7/2, Coventry 7/1

Scenario bet win total (win minus 300 total bet)

A: Saints win 100 133 -167

B: Draw 100 350 50

C: Coventry win 100 700 400

Oh well. Go Leicester!

Palace and Posh were big games too, we won.

You can't pick and choose stats when there are others which clearly show this to be otherwise.

Brighton last year?

Let me pick your glass jaw up for you, you poor little attention seeker.

In September 1985 I watched my first ever live game at The Dell. Next week my 4 year old son will go and see his first 1st team game.

There is a bit of a connection here, the opposition was / is Coventry. Hopefully we can improve on the 1-1 Draw I saw.

I am in no doubt that my son will witness a victory, a sell out crowd and a promotion. Hopefully in 30 years or so he will be telling his kids about how special and historic his first game was.

So........assuming whu win on Monday, next Saturday SMS is going to be something else.

At home, a win needed to clinch promotion after 7 years.........in our first season back in this league. Forget today's disappointment.........if you can't look forward to this you probably need a new way to spend your leisure time.

Football is usually won and lost on narrow margins.....things often got to the last day.

This is NOT , really is NOT a team of bottlers. Posh was a big game. palace was a big game, Both West Ham games were big games, Brighton last season was, as was Brentford, as was MK Dons, as was the JPT final.

They will do us proud, I feel sure.

We will already be up come this game. I have no doubt that West Ham will not win at Leicester.

Leicester are good at home. Their last 10 home games.

W7 D3 L0

Also we will smash Cov 4-0.

Even if we draw, I think we will still go up.

So we lost today, away at a team fighting to get into the play-offs. We lost at home to Reading, who were on the most amazing run of results, and who had been in the Championship play-offs in 2 of the previous 3 seasons, ( whilst we were slipping to our lowest ebb and completely rebuilding from effectively nothing ). Unfortunately for our form record, these 2 games came within days of each other, in a season where we have a record of P45 W25 D10 L10 F81 A46. Given how far we've come in the last 2 seasons, I am absolutely amazed and delighted that with 1 game to play automatic promotion is entirely within our own control - the highest scoring team in the league, with the highest scoring individual will possibly have to win, at home, against probably the worst team in the competition. If you had offered that scenario at the start of last season, how many would have thought it possible ?

Saints will be Premier League next season.

How f@@@ing amazing is that ?

That has really cheered me up! Thanks Dr Who.
