St Chalet Posted 21 April, 2012 Author Share Posted 21 April, 2012 If Hammers win their last 2 they would likely overhaul our GD, so a point might not be enough for us next week. Why oh why do they make it so difficult?

St Marco Posted 21 April, 2012 Share Posted 21 April, 2012 Rant incoming You can talk about tv/refs or whatever but the fact is when we have the big games we blow it. How many games have we won against the top 7 this season? 3? Adkins totally ****ed up the subs bench by picking a defensive set up. Do Prado our only attacking player on there and he is badly out of form. If we had to come from behind to get a result he was our best option to do that?! Davis is ****ing **** when it comes to long shots and needs a pair of glasses, totally woeful keeping by him today, long ball after long ball to nobody. If he is our keeper next year regardless of league he has to stop that. A simple pass to a defender and another pass into midfield, enough of the punts to nobody. And Fonte has been crap for weeks now, doesn't look like the same player at all. He has made many mistakes recently which have really cost us. I bet Jos wants to punch him sometimes as he just loses concentration so often. People will come on and say unlucky or whatever but we should be promoted by now..... totally gutted, no doubt Adkins will come out with the robot recorded response. Ex Lion Tamer Posted 21 April, 2012 Share Posted 21 April, 2012 For all our collective disappointment we did not surrender, we were not gutless, we got beaten by a team that played way above themselves and fought us every inch of the way. Yes the ref made a bad mistake, yes Fonte made a bad mistake but we can still do this and we can finish the job next week. Draw a blue line, step over it and move on. And the skates are down...that's one of the four positives! This. Plus we were unfortunate that Chaplow got injured, for some reason we seem to play better with him in the team even when he doesn't have the ball. To say we were gutless is a joke, we fought hard, just didn't have the quality and the luck to get a win away against one of the better teams in the league

Amazing Hangover Posted 21 April, 2012 Share Posted 21 April, 2012 Hey, I'm a big Nigel fan but: 1. We've conceded three goals from the D, in open play, in four games. That’s unforgiveable. 2. Bringing Guly on completely changed a shape that was working very well. I still can’t believe he did that. We needed to trade like-for-like and retain the shape. point one is a worry - several times now

Dalek2003 Posted 21 April, 2012 Share Posted 21 April, 2012 We've had a great season, personally thought we would need 2 seasons to go up...but today was not good enough...too many of them were looking to others to sort it out...nobody taking responsibility. If we need 3 points against Coventry we might just cock it up. Still, only £90 million to throw away....SO SORT IT OUT! If we mess it up against Cov, then we are clearly not fit for purpose ie Premier League !
Surrey Saint Posted 21 April, 2012 Share Posted 21 April, 2012 So, the mighty COVENTRY bring their crack team of battle hardened, talented and confident players to face us next week. Will we QUAKE? Will we roll over and SURRENDER? Will we RESPECT their gifted and slick play making? Nah. We'll win, 3-0 probs. Believe. We are going up.
LaptopSaint Posted 21 April, 2012 Share Posted 21 April, 2012 Gutless. That is not all. Please go and 'support' someone else. Thanks. Bloody glad to see Morgan back on the pitch. MOSaint Posted 21 April, 2012 Share Posted 21 April, 2012 Things still look good mind, Coventry next week are down, out and have zero to play for. Just hope, like they did after the Reading and Pompey matches they can pick themselves up and beat a poor side we have no business even drawing with. Don't assume West Ham will beat Leicester either, Leicester's disappointing season is down to poor results against bad sides. They have something like the 4th best record against top half teams. James Posted 21 April, 2012 Share Posted 21 April, 2012 I feel more deflated than I have in a while after this. I cannot believe we couldn't see that out. Its going to be very nervy against Cov now. Really took that defeat hard. Hope the players realise what it means to us fans and raise themselves for the final game. If we lost to Coventry we do deserve to fail, but the problem is relegated teams often play much better. Look at Donny today. So angry, I hate how much I care about this club. I can't begin to imagine how its going to feel should we fail.
alpine_saint Posted 21 April, 2012 Share Posted 21 April, 2012 That'll be three blue lines then in the last four games. Yep, completely fed up of the happy-clappy platitiudes. Saintjersey Posted 21 April, 2012 Share Posted 21 April, 2012 Fonte was awful, Hammond and Lambert off pace. How many long shots is Kelvin letting in at the moment, also think he positioning for their second goal was woeful. People moan about the ref, but we have been letting teams take pot shots too much and it is costing us. Why didn't we have a pacey winger on the bench at least? Alanh Posted 21 April, 2012 Share Posted 21 April, 2012 Very disappointed. Was looking forward to celebrating tonight, but will have to wait a bit longer now - Monday or Saturday. Their goals were decent strikes, not as good as Norris's, but good enough. If someone had buried one of the 5 or 6 chances we created at the start of the second half we would have coasted to the win. When did Rickie last get a free kick on target? Understandable overreactions are going to be the order of the day on here for a while, but remember we did just about everything in that game apart from put the ball in the net. We fought for possession and created much more in their final third than they did in ours. Games are rarely easy wins and on this occasion their two strikes were enough to beat us. We'll beat Cov on Saturday on go up with two points to spare.

rocknrollman no2 Posted 21 April, 2012 Share Posted 21 April, 2012 We had the perfect chance to promote ourselves tonight, but as usual,as is the Saints way,we make it difficult for ourselves and hand West Ham an outside chance. The fact that the Skates were relegated today would have made a win so much sweeter, but instead we face a nervy game against Coventry, who will still give us a hard game, despite them already being down. A win is needed next week, nothing else is acceptable!
saintds Posted 21 April, 2012 Share Posted 21 April, 2012 Was chatting to the lads I go to games with the other day and said it wouldn't be the end of the world if we didn't go up, as another season of expecting to win would be good. Now I'm absolutely devastated that we've handed the league title over like that, albeit with a massive helping hand from a linesman and a ref. Still in our hands though
derry Posted 21 April, 2012 Share Posted 21 April, 2012 Fonte does this all the time. He had no need to challenge as Butterfield had the ball covered. It was just stupid. As for the free kick the wall was distracted and as the argument was going on Zammama was moving the ball to the left and Davis should have reset the wall to the final ball position. Fonte has been sub standard all season, this constant holding is a nonsense and detracts from his ability to defend. He needs to take a step back and challenge for the header or position for a challenge and stop giving stupid fouls away in dangerous positions. Against Reading for the third goal instead of heading the ball away he tried to hold the nippy Le Fondre off and missed the ball and the man. A chance missed to kill it off and the referee bottled Hines second booking. Beat Coventry and it's done. Might even get done Monday night. Ex Lion Tamer Posted 21 April, 2012 Share Posted 21 April, 2012 Just speaking to a Boro supporter and he said that's the best they've played at home all season. That said, we still have problems in certain positions, but given how far we've come in just 2 seasons, understandable. Hopefully in the summer we can get the final pieces of the jigsaw in place, whichever league we're in

VectisSaint Posted 21 April, 2012 Share Posted 21 April, 2012 Draw a line. Beat an already relegated team and we are up. Simple as that Just wish it was as simple as that. This is Saints. Another week of nervous tension, not knowing if we will go up or not, and after tamely surrendering the championship as well, that hurts. Boro have a terrible home record, hardly ever score 2 goals in a game, but we gave it away. Silly foul by Fonte. Don't agree about the 2nd yellow, yes it should have been but it doesn;t mean we would have won (or even drawn), teams often play well with 10. They were simply more up for it than we were tonite, but can't put my finger on why. We were poor in CM in the 1st half, Boro completely bossed it, but Adkins turned it around 2nd half. But CM is definitely area that has to be strengthened, only Morgan is consistent enough to be auto choice. Anyway ********, nail biter next Saturday I guess, thought we could have a nice relaxing game still hoping that we could nick the Championship. Failing that, we just have to beat the second worst team in the division on Saturday. It is all in our hands and is very doable.
