I remember that back in 99 we tried to sign David Wetherall from Leeds. He was reluctant to move down from the north and opted to join Bradford. We then signed Dean Richards instead and he gave us two seasons good service and we made a tidy profit out of him. It's a real shame what happened to him.

Also, I remember when we nearly signed a guy called Matt Piper from Leicester? He joined Sunderland, but then had to retire because of injury.

In Weatherall's case

It was his Mrs who didn't want to be more than a couple of miles from her Mum, player didn't mind coming here at all.

I remember a whole week's discussion on the clanishness of Northern Women.

Thanks for clarifying that one. Not Saints related, but I also remember when Joey Beauchamp joined West Ham from Oxford, but then said he missed being near his mum, so got a transfer to Swindon in the only season they have been in the Premier League.

It's not Cork or Morgan so whom could it be? Crikey, this is a hard one.

Chaplow? Burnley fan so would make sense. Not been the same since his injury, used as a RM here as he hasn't got the neccessary ball qualities for CM and would he be out of his depth at PL level? We're surely in the hunt for a RM anyway so sacrifice Chaplow and you can then look at players like Moses etc.

Don't know what to make of Hooper. I think we'll go back for him, but his strike rate in the SPL doesn't impress me one bit.

I hope you are wrong. Scottish football is pathetic. Team docked ten points finds themselves in ...er... second about eight points behind the league leaders and miles clear of a hatful of teams who could not beat a girl scouts representative side playing in blindfolds.

There's a reason Hooper can score in Scotland. Because Steven Hawking sould score 20 goals a season up front for Celtic.

No thanks. And before anyone says what about Jos - he didn't play. That's the point. He was too good for Celtic and they knew it!

My BHA supporting friends are very disapointed in CMS. I'd have been quite happy if we had signed him last August as he looked so good at Posh. Maybe he would have done better here than he has at Brighton, but its not as if he's been playing in a really poor team since Brighton have scored over 50 goals. Its just that not many of them by have been by Craig. A good one to have avoided.

I think CMS is a classic case of Poyet buying a striker who simply doesn't fit into their system and style of play. Shows a bit of naivety on Poyet's part.

I'm glad we didn't get Gorkss, if we did we would not have bought the lanky goal machine that is Jos

True, but it has to be said that by all accounts Gorkss has had an excellent season for Reading - so we didn't exactly evade a landmine there ;)

It's impossible to say what any of these players might have been doing for Saints when they were got up to our standard fitness and gelled into our squad properly. Look at the turnaround Sharp has made since his earlier games for us. He could have easily just continued that way without good fitness and man management.

Wonder what Adkins could have done with Matt Le Tiss?

You cant possibly say that cos you just dont know what Adkins and his coaching staff might have done to turn a raw 18 year old into a bloody fine player.

He was good for us, better than he has been anywhere else. Coincidence or not ? Who knows but I just dont understand this mentality that slags him off whenever possible.

Have a look at the JPT Final DVD again ;-)

Brian McDermott seems to be having problems turning him into this world beater some of our fans think he is, despite being able to turn an average Reading team into a promotion winning one. 2 years after Apparantly setting the world alight for us in league one, where is this 20 year old starlett? Oh, back in league one. Coincidence or not?
