jeff leopard Posted 10 November, 2008 Posted 10 November, 2008 Taxi driver As s_s is a fan of Casino I can safely recommend everything by Scorsese. Everyone has their different faves, for me its Taxi Driver, Goodfellas and Last Temptation of Christ, but all of them are well worth owning and have several viewings in them. The King of Comedy is a case in point, when I first watched it I thought it was meh, 3 viewings later and its brilliantly funny and quietly disturbing. Also, anything by the Coen Brothers, apart from Ladykillers. plus Election (1999) The Limey (1999) Twenty Four Seven (1997) There Will Be Blood (2008 )
Rory Posted 10 November, 2008 Posted 10 November, 2008 Yeah, my favourite ever film is Taxi Driver but may I also recommend: Dog Day Afternoon Amores Perros Punch-Drunk Love Les Quatre Cent Coups Anything by Wes Anderson (Rushmore, Life Aquatic, Darjeeling Limited etc)
Roman Posted 10 November, 2008 Posted 10 November, 2008 Both of Terrence Malick's movies from the 1970s can't be missed: Badlands Days of Heaven. Other gems from the golden age of American cinema: Shampoo The Exorcist Duel The Conversation All the President's Men The Parallax View Three Days of the Condor ...and anything which has John Milius's credit on it. (One of his most famous contributions to film was the uncredited writing of Robert Shaw's 'Indianapolis' speech in Jaws) Finally, for when you have the flu again: How to Murder Your Wife (Watch it for the court scene if nothing else)
Big Poppa Posted 19 December, 2008 Posted 19 December, 2008 I'd definitely recommend... Nil By Mouth (Ray Winstone) Grosse Pointe Blank (John Cusack) 24 Hour Party People (Steve Coogan) Scum (Ray Winstone) From Dusk Till Dawn (George Clooney) The Godfather Trilogy (Al Pacino) One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (Jack Nicholson) The Commitments (Andrew Strong) Out Of Sight (George Clooney) Unforgiven (Clint Eastwood) The Color Of Money (Paul Newman) The Wanderers (Karen Allen) The Warriors (Michael Beck) White Men Can't Jump (Wesley Snipes)
Kadeem Hardison Posted 19 December, 2008 Posted 19 December, 2008 Sister Act II: Back in the Habit is good.
the stain Posted 19 December, 2008 Posted 19 December, 2008 Sister Act II: Back in the Habit is good. This is showing over the Chrestive Season, Boxing Day I think. Also on telly over Santaval, The Edukators and Hallam Foe, both of which are well worth staying up for.
