Excellent news. Seemed a good lad when I've spoken to him outside SMS & always has time 4 a quick chat with my 5 year old too. Should-a been a character witness too!

Does this mean he's not f**king hard now though?

Wouldn't start a fight over spilt beer apparently .....not the sort of wimp we want in our team

I'm delighted he's been cleared and it obviously vindicates his consistent not guilty stance. Makes me think that the evidence against him can't have been very convincing, and from what I've read it seems far from clear what happened in a general fracas.

I'm just sorry he's missed a full season in the Championship after being an important player in League 1. If we go up, it will be a big ask for him to step up to that level but I wouldn't write him off, even though he's well down the pecking order now.

Maybe he would do better to rebuild his career in a lower division, but whatever, I'd thank him and wish him well.

He'll be off in the summer without a doubt. Very lucky to get a Not Guilty for that.

Maybe if we get clubs coming in for him. I think he's got 2 years on his contract still.

Why was he lucky? Were you there? Did you see what happened?

Were you in court listening to the evidence to make that informed decision or are you just making it up as you go along. 12 of his peers listened to the evidence and made an informed decision "Not Guilty", so the evidence must have spoke for itself.

Was he lucky? I can only assume he got off of those charges, given the statements from the "victims" side, because the jury believed those statements to be lies. From all that I have heard so far I am surprised, although someone did state the "victim" was pushing people to the side. Whereas the "victim" denies any involvement.

I suppose if you are carrying two bottles in each hand and one in your mouth you are hardly going looking for trouble. Add in, if the "victim" was found to be lying to even a small degree, then out it all goes. The jury came to the decision in hardly any time, so it seems very clear cut from their side, even though it may be puzzling from what we know.

Why shouldn't it have gone to court? I'm sure if you were the one who had been bottled and left scarred you'd think differently.

Because if the newspaper reports are in any way accurate, the evidence was too weak and contradictory to get a conviction, regardless of whether he did it or not. And so it proved.

W*nker. Have you forgotten the role he played in getting us up?

why take it so personal? No....haven't forgotton what he's done but doesn't mean he is good enough now or for the prem.

I dont understand why w*nkers like you get hung up on players who have done little and would go tomorrow for 50k extra.

Is it just possible he would prefer somethimg that doesn't refer to the court case that has hung over him for so long?

What's wrong with the original "He's better than Frank Lampard" (except of course he isn't, but then does Adam really make Messi ......?

We'll see. Interesting that his drop in form/ injury conveniently coincided with the start of court proceedings. He now has no excuse for focussing on the job in hand - and still only 27.

Exactly - it took the jury less than one hour to come up with a unanimous not guilty verdict - the prosecution case was simply far too weak to justify bringing it to court - and it is simply ridiculous that it has taken so long to get there and be resolved. The first time they turned up at court it was all double booked! What a waste of money and time - and the stress on Barnard must have been dreadful. The CPS has shown absurd incompetence (as so often).

The CPS would not have prosecuted if they felt the evidence was too weak for a conviction. These things go through extensive processes so as not to waste the public money. If the jury were not convinced of his guilt, so be it, it does not mean that the prosecution decision was not correct. That is why we have a defence system, to put the other side of the story.
