This Charming Man in trolling for reaction shocker.

I wouldn't say that's trolling, it's a fact.

If we weren't going for promotion, we'd have taken 1000 to Middlesbrough on Saturday at the very most, the terrace at Peterborough wouldn't have been packed for a midweek game, and even the 600-odd we took to Hull is double what we'd have taken there if we were midtable with nothing to play for.

Not trolling. Just stating facts. I remember going to places like Burnley when we took around 600, this year we took double that, Derby we took 3x what we normally take there, took 3x this year than what we did the other year to P'Boro, we took 3,000 to Cov yet I remember going there with about 800 others in the past. Our numbers South of Watford have always been good, North of there, they've traditionally been poor.

Our support has been good this year, though let's not kid ourselves it's solely down to us playing so well (I fully understand people will always jump on a bandwagon). Anyway, you lot carry on living in your little bubble with your rose tinted glasses on.

"probably worse than the skates" is trolling.

Saying that our average would be a lot lower if we weren't having a good season is fair comment.

Not really. I'd be willing to bet their away average this season is better than ours was in our relegation season in the Championship.

If someone could be bothered it would be an interesting comparison, although their average this year will have been boosted by having two local derbies which we didn't have when we were relegated.

Although well done to those travelling, must admit that I do find judging a clubs support on teh strnegth of itsawy following somewhat daft - always fails to take into account very important factors such as local economy, and importantly geography - all clubs in more centralised reagions or where there are 7 or 8 clubs within 50 miles or so have an advantage - less cost of travel and time etc. Yep we have done really well, but its not really indicative of the 'quality of fans'... IMHO

Yep. If you support Derby, Forest, B'ham, Coventry etc etc then pretty much every away game is within easy reach.

Our away support this season has been very, very good in terms of numbers.

Their average of 1500 doesn't include their visit to our gaff.

Yet their support is pretty average on the road. Can even add Wolves, Villa and WBA to that list.

Our numbers away from home have generally been vey good this year, but as I always say, you judge a team's upport when it's not going well, not when they're flying at the top of the league, having the best season for many years.

Any stattos out there that could calculate a table for average numbers of fans factored by number of miles travelled - would provide a more accurate reflection of what its says about the travelling fan base - :scared::lol:

Think you're reading it the wrong way round. The averages along the bottom are for the average away following taken to each ground while the averages down the side are the average away following taken by each club. I read it as Pompey averaging an away following of 1,309, including taking 3k to St Marys. The average taken to Fratton Park is 1,504 but doesn't include the 3k that we took there for some reason.

This must be the right way round otherwise, for example, Coventry would have the biggest away support in the Championship beating West Ham and Leeds, and double both Brum and Cardiff which just can't be right.

Our average away following is 2,364 but doesn't include Hull away and Pompey away.

The horizontal columns are the number of supporters taken to each ground by the club in the header, that's why Barnsley don't take any away supporters to Barnsley for instance. The averages at the bottom is their average take to away matches over the season.

When there's a blank it's because they don't have the figure or the game hasn't taken place yet,

This cannot be evenly remotely accurate.

Everyone knows that the world's greatest fans would be top of this table for ANY league, not just the Championship.

I demand a recount.....another blatant example of people picking on Portsmuff !!!

No the averages in the very first column is the average following for each team - you honestly think that Coventry take more fans away than Leeds and West Ham?
