Deano6 Posted 18 April, 2012 Posted 18 April, 2012 I was sat behing my computer reading some posts and on my screen I saw a number of threads by people telling other fans how they should or should not behave at games, including but not limited to: Songs that should not be sung Certain clothes that are prohibited Things that should not be said at a game When it is and is not acceptable to eat food at the ground What should not be posted on internet message boards Someone help me out here, what the f/ck possesses these people to give a sh*t. It's utterly cringeworthy. Other fans must be laughing at us. Please stop it. We are not short of sh*t thread as it is but this really does take us to new depths. A great forum ruined by the actions of a few. I've never been so embarrassed to be a saints fan.
sotonjoe Posted 18 April, 2012 Posted 18 April, 2012 I give it about 25 mins until somebody comes along and gives you a load of abuse for starting the wrong kind of thread...

saintmatt Posted 18 April, 2012 Posted 18 April, 2012 I've just witnessed a poster called Nude (I've made this name up to conceal his/her true identity) castigate a Saints supporter from behind his/her keyboard for wearing a Saints wig to a Saints match. Nude called said supporter a "freak" in what was his 16,123rd post on this forum. Now, I'm no expert, and I consider neither party a "freak" (live and let live etc), but is there irony at play here?

A great forum ruined by the actions of a few. I've never been so embarrassed to be a saints fan. I'd suggest sitting in front of your computer and not behind it. It's easier on the eyes. Anyway. A forum by definition is 'a place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged'. If you think what is being said is embarrassing, no one is forcing you to read it or listen to what people have to say. And hey, what possesses YOU to give a **** so much, you have to start a thread asking why people give a **** for expressing their opinion? Hmm. I'll tell you what I find embarrassing. When someone next to me asks 'who the coloured one up front is'. When someone is more bothered about the contents of their sandwich, when in front of them is the south coast derby, one of the most important in years. I find stuff like that embarrassing, and I come on here and discuss it with others.
jasonb Posted 18 April, 2012 Posted 18 April, 2012 You have to remember that for some people, social media is their first experience with communicating with other people and some are just on a proper wind-up... most of the nonsense on here makes me laugh.. I don't take it too seriously as I'm sure most of the wind-up merchants get a real kick from the responses.
sandwichsaint Posted 18 April, 2012 Posted 18 April, 2012 People who clog this board with mere drivel make me embarrassed to be a Saints fan; they should get out more, preferably going to a few games so they can hear what proper drivel looks like.

Raging Bull Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 I like being told what to sing, wear etc.....it gives me some direction in my saints supporting life. I'd be knowhere without these super fans!
SaintNeil90 Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 I agree. There used to be a lot more people on this forum but the majority cant be bothered anymore.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 Add to that list, what time people arrive/leave, what they drink, if they eat at a non regulated meal time. To be fair, a lot of the time it is just Turkish and he is doing it just for a bit of a laugh and or reaction (he must be surely?). It's the muppets that take it seriously that are embarrassing.
Raging Bull Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 I agree. There used to be a lot more people on this forum but the majority cant be bothered anymore. TBF I only come on here to see if anything interesting has happened with saints, it saves lots of time and effort cos every bit of availible news gets posted here.
Sour Mash Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 I agree. There used to be a lot more people on this forum but the majority cant be bothered anymore. That's not actually the case though.

"People who post on internet message boards telling fans how they should behave".........."Please stop it".......the irony is enough to make me reach for my red and white wig and sing a song about wotsits. Not a great fan of Stalinists telling me what to do or say either or anyone who takes themselves too seriously. I remember the stag do of golf pimps on a train to see the Saints v Charlton game a few years back. Personally I thought it was ****ing funny... but there you go each to their own.

Another self mastubation exercise, like alpine knocks one out every day or so.
Frank's cousin Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 Actually, I come on here only for advice on fashion, music, politics, what's cool or not on the terraces, which player to big up aor hate or blame this week, as I struggle with forming an informed balanced opinion on these things without the superior average intellect of the average SWF poster....
pap Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 As someone who only gets to around six or seven games a year, I am not very up on matchday etiquette. According to my mate, it's okay to wear replica shirts to away games, but only "kids and nonces" wear them to home games.

Tokyo-Saint Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 Yeah like those that start whole new threads about what others are posting Will you stop mentioning me child, it's starting to become an obsession. That was my point though, anyone who takes it too seriously has just fallen into the trap the troll wanted. On one hand you have Turkish can be funny and does a lot of it for a wind up but then he has a group of followers who support his argument but in a more serious manner, each less funny than the last. On the other, you have a load of mongs who fall for the bait and seriously worry about what other people are thinking of them sitting there in their jesters hat. To use the music analogy again, some people will like steps and wear bright yellow sleeveless tops others will like Oasis/Kasabian and dress like a Paul Weller tribute act. Worrying about either one makes you a bigger knob than either of them.

Delboy Dave Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 Why is it wrong to wear a replica shirt home or away?
Tokyo-Saint Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 are you saying This Charming Man, Sour Mash and Griffo are a Turkish tribute act?? hahaha I wouldn't dare. What makes you think it's them? In actual fact, there is a lot worse than them.
This Charming Man Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 are you saying This Charming Man, Sour Mash and Griffo are a Turkish tribute act?? Tokyo just doesn't like me because of my anti-Japanese stance.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 Tokyo just doesn't like me because of my anti-Japanese stance. That's the only thing I like about you.
This Charming Man Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 That's the only thing I like about you. Does this mean there's still a glimmer of hope we can be friends?
Tokyo-Saint Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 Does this mean there's still a glimmer of hope we can be friends? I am human and need to be loved, just like everybody else does.
Turkish Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 I am human and need to be loved, just like everybody else does. We will never be anymore than forum friends i'm afraid. For you there is no hope no harm, just another false alarm.
This Charming Man Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 I am human and need to be loved, just like everybody else does. The more you ignore me, the closer I get.

Frank's cousin Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 I still don't even know if its okay. My other mate won't wear replica shirts to games home or away, but he owns some. Its perfectly fine to wear what you want - there are a few who have a hissy fit because it does not fit with their 'tasty gear, logo, branded high quality sports casual wear and caps of the right propa wannabe 'firm' image (having watched too many 'cool' hooli films), but they tend to be in the minority and between 13-17 (or act like it any way)
Delboy Dave Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 I still don't even know if its okay. My other mate won't wear replica shirts to games home or away, but he owns some. Ok by who? Surely you can decide your self whether to wear a shirt or not? Can anyone tell me why it's deemed wrong to wear a replica shirt??
Turkish Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 Ok by who? Surely you can decide your self whether to wear a shirt or not? Can anyone tell me why it's deemed wrong to wear a replica shirt?? Is a good look, yes?
keithd Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 Why is it wrong to wear a replica shirt home or away? first rule of fight club is you mustnt talk about fight club
kpturner Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 Why is it wrong to wear a replica shirt home or away?Because replica shirts are for chavs. Football shirts are for footballers......bit like the overweight, middle aged men and women who go around in tracksuit bottoms and trainers but have never done a minutes exercise in their lives.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 19 April, 2012 Posted 19 April, 2012 Is a good look, yes? No, you're right. You and your tribute act should definitely stick to designer casual wear.
