3 players you would take from the NPC

Kasper, if WHU stay down we need to look at Tomkins

I'd also love us to get someone like Noble in the middle of the park, failing that, someone I have been really impressed with this year (he's very young, so will be one for the future) Sean Murray of Watford, outstanding talent in CM.

Really wouldn't want Schmeichel. Is it the novelty value? I've seen him quite a number of times now and just seems like a half decent shot stopper with nothing else about him. Doesn't seem that big either, no presence and already loads of clubs. I know people like to get young keepers in that stay for ages, but you can't put a price on experience at that level. Just look how good Friedel has been at Spurs. Don't suppose we can steal Given from Villa?! Why would anyone want to stay at Villa.

strange really..as they are a huge club and have the potential to be consistently top 6......

but they are so dire and boring

Rodriguez - younger version of a Rickie type striker (Lee and Sharp would give us a good complement up front, can see Barnard and Connolly moving on.)

Curtis Davies - need some pace at the back for the top flight

Matt Phillips - we need a the right winger

Adkins made a point about targetting Clyne when attacking the Palace defence in his post match interview so I doubt we will be signing him.

Only in terms of his height, he's still a very good attacking fullback.

I'd go for Whittingham, Matt Phillips and Neil Danns

Yes, I noticed that as well but Evra had the same trouble when he first joined Man U and adapted so no reason why Clyne couldn't do the same. Clyne would certainly be on my shortlist. Adomah is a good shout, he's not been as good in the second half of the seadon but that lowers the price and he such a raw talent Adkins could really develop him into a Premier League regular. Snodgrass is an excellent player but probably too similar to Lallana and Adam has the edge on Snodgrass. Curtis Davies from Brum would also be good although we'll need at least 2 new CBs if we do go up as Martin will need an NPC loan for experience, Jaidi into a coaching role and Seaborne also on loan in the NPC if . Whittingham has quality delivery certainly but does he have the pace we badly need in wide areas? Craig Conway however...

Although he's not an NPC player, if we want a tough tackling CM with pace, Frimpong on loan from Arsenal is just the ticket. Look how Wolves have struggled to get a foothold in games since he got injured. Apart from Fedirici, I've not seen another keeper in this league other than Kelvin that I'd want. So can see us going overseas for competition for Kelvin. Jay Rodriguez looked good up there in terms of one of two new strikers to rotate with Rickie and Billy (as Norwich have done so effectively with Holt and Morison) although Jordan Rhodes is bound to be sought after if Hudds fail to go up.

We need to strengthen more than 3 positions IMO, but the main positions are right midfield, central midfield and centre back.

CB: Curtis Davies is the obvious choice, but I have an inkling that Birmingham will win the play-offs. If they do, then I'd rape West Ham of Tomkins.

CM: Eek, umm, well Whittingham has been consistantly good for Cardiff, and score a fair few too, so him.

RM: I see Adomah isn't even getting in the BC starting team at the moment, so Matt Phillips please. I'd say Chris Burke (one of the best players in the nPC) but I'm ignoring Brum, for the reasons stated above.

God this is tough. So many good players. It depends on who we'd want to annoy. I'd love to sign a player from Brighton and West Ham, just to annoy them.

Looking at where I think we need to improve makes this a lot more difficult. Most of my "liked" players are wide midfielders, and we only really need one right sider and some CMs.

As far as pure Championship players who are owned by Championship teams who could well be in the Championship next season, I'll take

Thomas Ince, Joe Bennett of Middlesbrough and Rob Green.

Though I also think Robert Snodgrass, a few Reading players and maybe centre-backs Chester or Hobbs of Hull have something, Tomkins has been decent recently for West Ham, and obviously Prem reject Curtis Davies but we don't necessarily need improving there as much as some other positions.

One thing I do know after Friday, I wouldn't touch Alex Pearce with a 50 ft pole, he looked APPALLING on the ball, no better than when he was struggling with Saints a few years back.

Tomkins would never leave WHU. Had not realised Snodgrass was so young but would only need either him or Matt Phillips and not both. I don't think we particularly need another striker but if we do, then I suspect the 'done deal' rumours for Hooper have some credibility. Schmeichel would be my number one target over the summer. That aside, I think the team spirit will see us through.

Don't forget we have some youngsters about to break into the first team and we need to fit new signings around them. Stephens and Shaw (if we can hold on to the latter) will be targetting the full back positions next season and Martin already has a clear 'reserved' sign on the left sided centre back position. Add to that Sinclair and Hoskins up front and Racine at the back, the future looks bright.

But a special mention goes to James Ward-Prowse who is not only on the verge of the first team but judging by his tweets is absolutely chuffed to be part of the whole set up. Can see him staying at Saints a long long time and enjoying every minute - a bit like Lallana.

Harry Kane at Millwall has been pretty decent this season.

On loan from Spuds, so I'm not sure if they'd let him go, or if he'd come here. Probably not the right signing for us though, he's only 18 and not ready for Prem football. Good prospect for the future though.

I'd like to see us sign some players with potential. You would obviously take Tomkins, but I don't know if he would come and WHam would want huge money for him (I don't think they would sell for less than £7-8m)

I think Zaha would be decent, if he was a reasonable price. Has talent but very inconsistent. Reminds me a bit of Ashley Young when he was at Watford. Whose the lad at Brum, Redmond?

All speculative until we get a) get promoted (if we do!) b) know who else comes up c) have an idea of what our budget is. Cortese might chuck some serious cash around to get us established in the league.

Agree with an earlier poster about Liam Trotter of Millwall. He was suberb in both Cup games against us and was, luckily, injured for the recent league match.

23 years old and played on loan at Scunny in 09 under Nige.

Only seen on TV, but 18 y/o Nick Powell at Crewe has scored some great goals in the last few weeks and looks like a younger version of Lallana.

Schmeichel, as we obviously need a 2nd goalie.

Clyne - Highly rated and would be good to bring in and develop further (competing with Stephens longer term)

Davies - A good CB who will challenge our current group and has pace I believe

After this I struggle a bit. From what I've seen so far in the NPC I dont really prefer any of the keepers to Kelvin (even Green), though Schmeichel is young enough to develop. Many mention Matt Phillips, but honestly RM is the one position I'm hoping NC will go big on and for 5-10m I think we could do better.

Zaha as some mention would be interesting.

Adding a 4th striker to Lambert, Sharp & Lee, I would like to see us go overseas rather than the NPC as pace is needed. Rodrigues, Vaz Te & Hooper even don't really add much to what we have or seem likely to make a big impact in the Prem.

One thing you can be sure of however is that NA & NC will likely not go for many of those we mention and will spring a few Jos & Lee types on us.
