I feel sorry for the players that want to do a lap of honour with there love ones, instead of having to stand on seats high in the stands struggling to soak up a pitch invasion.

If we clinch the championship vs Coventry I would want it on the pitch right in front of 31k people and not see jack Schmitt like last season.

Just thinking a bit more about this – Yellow looks good but how successful have we been in yellow? FA Cup, Derby……………

Something happened in 1976 i think.

You have to be some kind of mong to think you're getting on the pitch at an away game without getting banned or arrested, promotion or not. There's some chance of smpathetic stewarding at a home match, but away ? No.

Incidentally, keeping people off the pitch would make them some of the BEST stewards.

Why?

Has happened lots of times. Look at Charlton at Carlisle a week back.

I don't see what the problem is as long as people don't start acting like morons giving it the big'un on the pitch.

If enough people were up for strength in numbers it could proabably happen, doubt that will be the case though.

Granted some people will have commitments they can’t get out of, but I bet half of the people that aren’t bothering will be wandering round west quay shopping with the mrs or something similar. Those of you saying your skint, if this isn’t worth dipping into the overdraft for I don’t know what is?

Besides, people can get up there for 25 odd quid.

Appreciate times are hard but thats hardly going to break the bank.

it's traditional and nothing wrong with it at all. The rule about going onto the pitch was to protect players. Fans aren't looking to hurt players they just want to pat them on the back.

As long as its good natured, and it should be, I doubt Boro fans would have a huge problem with it. To be honest if both sets of fans came on would that be a big deal? We mix afterwards so why not on the pitch?

A skate suggested to me that Saints fans lack passion. Of course I don't agree with that, but this sort of thing is what they are talking about. Not selling out a title winning away end. Not going onto the pitch to celebrate...

We can't win the title on Saturday.

Have you looked at the pictures on the OS from Walsall last season? I don't think it could've been possible for the players to look any happier if they tried. They were even filming the scenes on their phones/video cameras. Their tweets after would also suggest they were impressed with the scenes.

Of course they enjoyed it but some 20k supporters never saw them unless you watched the video afterwards.

One of the best screensavers I have is the johnstones paint one with the players celebrating at Wembley, I would love to have one of the players lifting the trophy at St Mary's.

Translated as: "I'm a moron and haven't looked at the league table recently".
Yep - driving home from Peterborough on Tuesday night the league table completely escaped my attention. I am, however, somewhat resigned to having to celebrate promotion sat on my @rse watching Leicester draw with West Ham on Monday. Also, we have decided to stay in Chesterfield on the way back from Boro. In hindsight, that is also not a great place to celebrate promotion either.

Pop up the road to Sheffield and you'll have a blinding night out. I have a feeling that we'll get a draw and WHU will balls up against Leicester meaning which would be sh*t for celebrating. Of course beggars can't be choosers.

At least you'll be able to tell us all you were there though, and that's what matters.

I was booked up ages ago, before it was even known promotion could be decided there. Then again, I can be bothered unlike some.

Aye, it was a game we were going to regardless but I wouldn't give the steam off my pi33 to those who can go but just can't be bothered.

What difference does it make when you booked up? Do you think it's relevant because you're more of a fan than those who are 'only going in case we win promotion'?

Sweet sorted my ticket and travel, going to be a trip and a half as i have to come down from london just to get a lift from southampton then back the same day and up to london again for work on sunday. Mammoth but worth it, would feel a right cun.t if i wasn't there after everything the players have given us this season

Anyone who really wants to go will go...

decided last night I couldn't miss it, got put on the reserve list for the coach brought a ticket and then got a place on the coach. Everyone I know is driving up so am spending the 6 and half odd round coach trip on my own at the age of 17 and then meeting people there. If I can be arsed to do it then the 'adults' saying they need people to travel with them would to if they could be arsed to.

That's just on this one thread. You wait till tomorrow's new "How many tickets left for Middlesbrough?" thread.

As this thread is titled the 'Invasion of Middlesbrough', you would tend to think it would be full of people going to Middlesbrough...

So f*** off.

Getting the train from uni in Bristol to Durham, back to Boro, watch game, back to Durham, spend night, back to Bristol. All on my own with the exception of Durham where a mate lives. ****ing tragic in any normal person's eyes. No other option if I wanna be there unfortunately. 12 hours on a train by myself. Yay!

Think yourself lucky, that is a rather tame reply from Scott. He is not known for his tact. HTH?

He makes a very good point though.

Good theory, except that the OP called it "Invasion ON Middlesbrough." unfortunately.

this really is a depressing thread, live and let live people, surely we should all just be celebrating we are on the verge of back to back promotions, look at it this way, at least we're not west ham fans ...

We are also staying in Durham, so will look out for a Saints shirt around there tomorrow niight.

Who is staying in Middlesbrough? Can anyone recommend anywhere decent to go in the evening? Pub if we're not promoted, club if we are promoted I'd imagine.

Far play to you guys, but defo a game to far for me. Have said all along that I will not go to games on the box, as I do have to pick and choose my games. Also went to both games over the Easter bank holiday weekend, and to Posh on Tuesday.

That is it for me folks, have a family and a wife that need me!

Looking forward to a long summer with them all, and be back for the premier league next season.

Have fun yellow army, as I really do think it will be a great day to be a saint! YELLOWS!!!!!!!!!

Can't really see a pitch invasion by us being an issue really.

Our 3200 blanket wearing sandwich eating fans wouldn't be able to scale a 3 foot wall or evade any stewards FFS. And who is going to look after the picnic hamper, coffe flask and blankets?

Leaving the stewards an easy job of stopping our 105 up for it lads from getting on the pitch. But even they may have issues with struggling with their giant foam hands and jester wigs.

Simples.
