Invasion on Middlesbrough

Recommended Posts

I have always associated Middlesbrough away as being one of those classic away days, up north, tiny saints following, moody pubs, over the top aggressive stewards, this one should be a bit different. They only managed 14k crowd last night at home to Doncaster and being a 0-0 draw I can’t see many being tempted out for the late kick off on Saturday on sky against us.

Any news on how close we are to selling the 4000 allocation? Would be good to sell them all but as with Peterborough can imagine we’ll have messages on here Friday night complaining they can’t book a coach as it is too late.

Don’t think I have spoken to any saints yet who are going up and back in the day, loads seem to be staying in Newcastle, few in York, few in Darlington and a few staying in Middlesbrough should be some good celebrations around the towns of the north east if we manage to seal it.

Pre-match pubs should be good if Bristol City beat Barnsley to confirm the Skates relegation before we play.

some advice for those making the trip http://www.footballgroundguide.com/middlesbrough/

I'll be impressed if we sellout. It's bloody hours away and it's on TV. We had a serious think about doing it last night, but knowing we'd have to go up and back on the day and an the bingo bus at this late stage, it just isn't worth it. We'll have a better time in the pub where we can actually celebrate victory if we get it, rather than sit on a quiet coach home for six bloody hours!

If we win, we will be on their pitch. Although can idiots not please start singing 'on the pitch' before the end of the game giving the police plenty of time to round up everything they've got to stop us getting on.

Now some off them might not be the brightest, but I reckon a couple of them will have worked out what it means for a Saints win.

It won't matter a jot what is sung or not, it is whether they allow some on to the pitch with a police line infront of them.

And there we have a prime example of a modern day football fan. Would rather sit in their local and watch it, rather than be at the ground. You just can't beat that buzz of actually being there for something as big as this. I'd happily sit on a coach for a month if it meant I could be there.

I can't wait for this and nothing could stop me from being there.

I'd rather we didn't sell out. Couple of thousand away day regulars is more than enough, can move around a bit and stand where you want, Boro away on a evening kick off, would much rather have a game like that than a London away day where every man and his dog go.

Now obtained tickets - so two from Glos will be there, probably have a 90 mile advantage on most of you but still a long haul.

Last visit to M/boro' was Jan 1982 when we went top. Bloody cold that day, at least this won't be played in arctic conditions.

Yeah, I was just looking at the possibilities and there's no train back that night after the game. Good luck to anyone that makes the journey.

There used to be an overnight National Express from Newcastle to Victoria, getting to London at 6am, I've done that a few times. Desperate times call for desperate measures....

Is that right? I might look into that then since it's always an option, i'd rather be sleeping on a bus back having been there than watching in a pub any day of the week! Especially since i've never done 'Boro, think it would be my 16th away this season too.

I just can't understand people making these excuses. This is HUGE. We're on the brink of the premier league. I don't get paid until Monday and haven't got much spare cash, but that's what overdrafts and credit cards are for. This is unmissable. We got tickets weeks ago, as even if we weren't in the position we're in, it's still the last away game of an amazing season.

By Saturday lunchtime, you'll all be gutted that you didn't make more effort.

i have done it before as well coming back from Newcastle, not ideal but gets you back, plus most onboard tend to be asleep and i managed to get a few hours.

Coach leaves Newcastle 23.45 back in London for 06.20

I remember that game, left town about 1am saturday mornin on one of foleys coaches after we got kicked out of Margheritas, ****ed as and woke up on a frosty sat morning in middlesborough, WTF. Unbelievable when we scored and went top. The journey home is a blur. Priceless

I pick and choose my games. I've only done Coventry, Derby, Reading, Bristol City, Palace X 2, Pompey and Peterborough away this season, as well as all home cup and league games. I'm sorry that deciding I might give Saturday a miss means I don't meet your super fan status.

Targeted this game as the possible clincher weeks ago and so it has proved to be.. I'm no smart arse but soooo glad I'm going... stopping over in Newcastle so hoping for the win and a great night out up there... spent a year in Boro doing an MSc and its god awful

There's also a Megabus that leaves Newcastle at 0115 and gets into London at 0730 for £14.

I'm flying from Bristol to Newcastle and staying with a mate up there. Cheaper and quicker than driving or getting the train up by myself. Hopefully we'll take 3000 up there, no doub we'll shift a few more tickets after winning last night.

We wont get anywhere near the pitch. It'll be too easy for them to stop us. I'm not really bothered either way but think it would be nice for all the players and staff to come over and celebrate in front of us.

Drive??? Serifs early. Stay overnight or drive home after. Nothing beats a I was there comment.
with it being on TV give it a few years and half of Southampton will have been there. Just got my ticket. Plymouth away was one of the greatest Saints game of all times. Watching games like this on the TV sucks. Nothing beats the atmosphere in the ground. Decent lot the boro fans so fully expect them to been. Edited by Chez
