Dig Dig Posted 17 April, 2012 Share Posted 17 April, 2012 Still would love for us to win it as the players deserve to get their hands on something shiny for their efforts over the past two seasons. hamster Posted 17 April, 2012 Author Share Posted 17 April, 2012 When we go up I'd like us to do a player plus cash deal with Norwich to nab Simeon Jackson. anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 17 April, 2012 Share Posted 17 April, 2012 The table doesn't lie so well done to them. SuperMikey Posted 17 April, 2012 Share Posted 17 April, 2012 That quote is true of most of the Championship to be fair. I'm not too sure - there are teams with great support in this league (Birmingham, West Ham, Leeds, Notts Forest, Cardiff etc). I would say the fans of those clubs deserve promotion more as they turn up in their numbers every week and support their club very well, but their teams just haven't matched Reading on the pitch. I don't mind Reading, McDermott has done well to get them up, but their fans are shocking imo. Congrats to them though, and look forward to playing them next year! Under Weststand Posted 17 April, 2012 Share Posted 17 April, 2012 Have to hold you hands up & say well done! I felt cheated against them on Friday, but we did the same to Leeds. They thoroughly deserve to be celebrating tonight after an unbelievable run! Lets hope we are doing so Sat night, & Reading have taken their eye off the ball by the time we play. SuperMikey Posted 17 April, 2012 Share Posted 17 April, 2012 If we win and Reading lose am I right in thinking that we go top with the incentive of a final day advantage? Yes, but they're playing Crystal Palace so there's not much chance of them losing....considering the Skates beat them tonight! I can see Brum doing us a favour on the last day though...we can always live in hope!

VectisSaint Posted 18 April, 2012 Share Posted 18 April, 2012 The annoying thing is they don't actually deserve it my opinion. They have had a late run that's all. Albeit an amazing one. Saints have been the most consistent over the whole season. Top two.....surely deserves promotion. If not Championship. West ham should feel the most aggrieved. Should have on paper sewn this league up weeks ago. So yeah we'll done to reading for your fine run of wins. But do you deserve the trophy. I am not convinced. Mad response. Its the team that are top of the league at the end of the season who have been most consistent. That could still be us or Reading. How can you say we have been more consistent than them, were you asleep during December and January?

Charlie Wayman Posted 18 April, 2012 Share Posted 18 April, 2012 It's really great that possibly 3 southern teams will go up and 3 northern ones come down. Sort of balances it all up a bit from the usual Lancashire domination where every game is a local derby and no bugger ever has to travel more than a few miles to the match, specs or players

Anyway i really doubt that we'll be signing very much on the striker front, not in August anyway. We have RL,TL,WS and GDP, maybe one more stiker but it'll either big a big front man or a second stringer. Now I hope they enjoy their party get wasted and take their eye off their game and slip up in there last couple of matches. Royal Exile Posted 20 April, 2012 Share Posted 20 April, 2012 Yep, can't stand them. Nothing team. Got murdered @ Brighton, pulled off spawny win. We murdered them. They won 3-1. Last nite Forest shots 23--8ont Reading 11--4ont I've been watchin Sky Sports (which might as well be called Royals TV today the ammount of coverage they gettin) and its really annoying me. "I would love it. Love it if we beat them." I know you're bitter at not being the first team to go up, but don't worry, you will get there. "Nothing" teams don't get promoted, sorry to disappoint you. All I've heard from anywhere is "lucky" Reading - guess we've been lucky 15 times in the last 17 games. Big surprise at Sky Sports covering the promotion of a team in detail - they're a sports channel, they've got the time to do that. I'll expect Sky-Saints TV to be in full swing when you go up, can't say it'll affect me as badly as it seems to have done you. Oh, and Stepgar - West Ham may well should have sewn up the League on paper, but the game is played on grass - they've ****ed up royally and we've taken advantage. We've got more points than everyone else and only you can catch us - of course we deserve to go up. I don't think Barnsley or Ipswich or Derby et al deserve it as they haven't won enough points to do so. Jibes about the attendance against Forest are a waste - Forest only brought 600 out of an allocation of 2100 - guess that explains the 1500 short of capacity. Chill out, Saints, you're on the way up too.
Raging Bull Posted 20 April, 2012 Share Posted 20 April, 2012 Tbh I think we're just annoyed at being in the top 2 from day 1 and possibly not winning the league. It'll all be forgotten about in a few weeks when we're all obsessing about who we're gonna buy etc. Nothing to be bitter about this year at all, being a saints fan in the last 3 years have been a dream so if we do come second to a good Reading side who nearly made it last year then so what.
