Middlesbrough v Saints build-up thread

Against sides in the top ten our away record this season is pretty dire.

W1 D4 L3

Fingers crossed the first one can be added to on Saturday.

Boro aren't a top 10 side based on recent form though.

There last 10 games are W1, D5, L4

Their last 10 home games are no better. W2, D4, L4

Their record against the top 6 so far: W2 D3 L6

They haven't beaten anyone even close to a decent team in 2012. They've beat Derby, Skates, Millwall, Forest, Barnsley and Shrewsbury.

Accepted, but this is Saints we're talking about. Never ones to make it easy for ourselves.

I'm sure we'll do it, just would love that Championship win as well.

Fair to say this is easily our biggest game for nearly 7 years? I'm on a stag do in Budapest on Saturday so may not even get to see it!

Ha - I'm on a stag do in Munich. Same damned problem. Luckily my two sons (based in Germany) are alos going and have Smart Phones so at least will be able to keep up to date with the score.

If you love saints your move heaven and earth to be there. We should be taking 6000 plus fans in home end. No being happy watching it on television. 1978 was the last time... Who knows if were ever do it again!!

So are we all agreed?

Promotion is not mathematically certain yet but will become certain if we win at Middlesborough.

A draw on Saturday does not make it certain because we could lose our last game against Coventry whilst Wet Spam could win their last two games. If these four results brought about a net GD change of 6 goals in WHU's favour, we would finish 3rd.

The title is still achievable if we win our last two games and Reading lose one of theirs.

One other thought - Regardless of what Reading do on Saturday, if we win away Middlesborough, the title will depend on the last day results, Saints v Coventry and Brum v Reading. Will the Football League have the Trophy at a hotel near Oxford and a fast car to head off north or south as soon as the outcome looks certain? Or will there be a replica trophy at both grounds?

"We have received a total of 4074 Middlesbrough tickets. This is our full allocation and no further tickets will be made available."

With what could now possibly happen I’m ****ing glad that I have mine.

COYS

Just rang and ordered mine (x2) allocation of 4,074 and they have 1,500 left!!! was surprised that so many were still availible

I doubt we'll sell out, but frankly taking 3000 to a televised game at Middlesbrough would be a good effort. Hopefully it'll go even higher.

Victory is dependent on Saints being strong in the air. In my opinion Fonte struggled aerially again last night and will certainly struggle against Jutkiewicz.

I believe that Aaron Martin will partner Jos on Saturday, which is why he was given game time yesterday. Pretty sure Jos was rested.

Ow & I think we'll win.

I feel like im being bullied into going.... "if im a saints fan i MUST go". "Why wouldnt I go its the biggest in years". Yep cant disagree with the latter but - and this is just a guess - those that can go, that can afford to go WILL go. They'll not need telling

I'd love it to be 0-0 and then Guly pop up and score a 94th minute winner and give the following message to the moaning bastards on here

Okay...

1. There aren't "moaning bastards" 90% of the time it's just people expressing an opinion.

2. The fact that so many people share the same opinion would suggest it has some legs.

3. Scoring the winner would be great, but it wouldn't undo his poor performances in the past.

4. This is the best time to be a Saints fan in a decade and you chose to have a dig at other fans... and you call them moaning bastards.

They are constantly moaning, ok he hasn't been playing well, but they are moaning. Which is also what you were doing. Enjoy the game.

I can't understand how people on here can be thinking a point is enough!

Surely the aim is to get the win - which we are more than capable of with the current set up.

There are several personal targets - Rickie's Goal tally, Kelvin's clean sheets and I bet Billy would like a hat-trick before the end of the season.

I'm being really greedy now after last nights heroics - Saints win, Reading lose which sets it up nicely for the last Saturday - top on goal difference, with all to play for!

Being a long serving fan - you get the impression we could still slip up at Boro, especially after the performance at Blackpool. Can you honestly see Boro doing that to us? Anyway we will probably be 2-up before they even realise they are in a game!

Yep, let's win. Let's make Readings nerves jangle a bit and take the title to the last day.

They're at Birmingham, we're at home to Coventry. We only need them to lose away at Brum (very possible) and then we just need to beat Cov and we're champions.

A draw isn't the end of the world, but it would kill of our title hopes. We can win at M'Boro though if we're at it.

I would be amazed if Fonte was dropped. The only way Martin will play is if Jos is not fit. He took a knock to his head when he scored and appeared to be struggling at times - that's why he came off.

I think a point is enough, but it'll likely mean we seal promotion due to WH failing to beat Leicester.

Personally, I'd far rather we seal promotion ourselves in a game, and I think the players will be thinking exactly the same.

This is exactly it.

If we get promotion on the back of WHU failing, then that's all the media will say. It won't be ''well done to us'' it'll be all down to WHU cocking up...

Guaranteed we will be going all out for 3 points, besides saints dont play any other way. adkins is a winner and he will want the title make no mistake. even if reading beat palace beforehand it wont alter our approach to game. birmingham will not want to play west ham over two legs so they will be gunning for 4th or 5th which may mean they need a win against reading. 3 points will not only see us promoted (1st objective) but will keep serious heat on reading. I also suspect we will want the title more than reading as they were run away winners only a few years ago whereas our trophy cabinet could do with a new addition:)

Hopefully Brum, Blackpool and Cardiff all win at 3pm so Boro have no chance of playoffs by the time we kick off.

Also want Blackpool and Cardiff to keep the pressure on Brum for 4th place (to avoid playing Wham) to stop them slacking off in the last game against Reading.

We're going up - now it's all about whether we can get top spot.
