bridge too far Posted 17 April, 2012 Share Posted 17 April, 2012 No, I personally can not begin to comprehend what he did as he is twisted. But psychiatrists have declared him sane. I think he is just evil. An absolute bastard. My knee-jerk response was that he's got to be insane. Anyone who holds such extreme views and kills so many innocent people in cold blood has to be, surely. But apparently insane people are incapable of planning things and he planned this meticulously. alpine_saint Posted 17 April, 2012 Author Share Posted 17 April, 2012 I don't think the death penalty is fair in this case. He killed 70 odd teenagers. The guy deserves to be tortured everyday until he can take it no more. I agree. Thats why I think he should be locked in a padded soun-proofed cell, all alone, no visitors, no recreation. And I dont know what the f**k his defence lawyer thinks he is doing, especially has Breivik doesnt want to go for the insanity angle.
alpine_saint Posted 17 April, 2012 Author Share Posted 17 April, 2012 My 12 year-old approached me last night about getting some sort of game for the computer called Minecraft. Having just read about this evil arsehole playing a game called Warcraft or something non-stop for a year before the atrocity, it was unfortnately bad timing. Suffice to say my son went away with a flea in his ear and absolutely no doubt about my answer.
SuperMikey Posted 17 April, 2012 Share Posted 17 April, 2012 Heartbreaking couple of pages in the Sun today with photos of his victims and the court's description of how he killed them. Shooting 14 year old kids in the throat and head... If there is such a thing as evil, he is it.
dune Posted 17 April, 2012 Share Posted 17 April, 2012 He's not insane in the sense of being away with the faeries because his meticulous planning and execution was very intelligent. He's just evil much like the architects of the final solution in NAZI Germany and the equally cruel people behind the Communist purges. And if you go further back in history it is littered with psycopaths who committed mass murder and cruelty. Empires were built on such acts including the British Empire than only survived because of the threat of severe retribution.
Suomi Saint Posted 17 April, 2012 Share Posted 17 April, 2012 I'm not so sure he is mad.....but of course his actions are. The whole of the western world is concerned with the spread of Islam....and how many people have been killed in that struggle to date? "Thou shalt not kill" is a reference to the individual, not the judiciary, governments, or the military. Why should there be a differentiation? No one should have the right to kill another human being. Breivik is arguing that his was a military action and therefore he is not guilty. If we all did this type of thing, then the world would end up like a toilet....complete anarchy....Mad Max. Mmmm....Libya anyone? Anyway, it's all going to end as we know it will.....he will spend the rest of his life in a 5-star Norwegian prison cell....time enough to reflect on the evils he has perpetrated. It is a shame he cannot share it with George W Bush and Tony Blair. How many people did they kill on the basis of a lie?
bridge too far Posted 17 April, 2012 Share Posted 17 April, 2012 Interesting points there, Suomi Saint. On Radio 5 this morning, there was reference to an American soldier who had been decorated for killing loads of Japanese during World War 2. He was a hero. He'd been killing in what was considered to be a justifiable cause. He returned to the States and became a serial killer. Still killing, but not for a justifiable cause. Tough to equate the two or to draw lines? It's a point of view (not mine, I hasten to add).
dune Posted 17 April, 2012 Share Posted 17 April, 2012 And they came to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of them that sold doves... (Mark 11:15) And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves... (Matthew 21:12) And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought... (Luke 19:45) And (he) found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting: And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables... (John 2:14-15) "Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man's enemies will be the members of his household. He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it." (Matthew 10:34-39) "I have come to cast fire upon the earth; and how I wish it were already kindled!" ... "Do you suppose that I came to grant peace on earth? I tell you, no, but rather division; for from now on five members in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three."... (Luke 12:49,51-53 NASB) "If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple." (Luke 14:26) "But now, whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and whoever has no sword is to sell his coat and buy one." (Luke 22:36) "Perhaps people think that I have come to cast peace upon the world. They do not know that I have come to cast conflicts upon the earth: fire, sword, war. For there will be five in a house: there'll be three against two and two against three, father against son and son against father, and they will stand alone." From the non canonical Gospel of St Thomas Did Jesus really do all this on the back of his good looks and charm?

Bearsy Posted 17 April, 2012 Share Posted 17 April, 2012 I didn't know much about all this but i just went to get my hairs cut and cos it was busy i sat and read about it in the papers. It was pretty bad! I was suprised to learn he had "ice-cold rat's eyes" though. I didn't know they did that. If i was gonna have eye transplants and they didn't have human ones i'd have like a leopards eyes or somethin, not a rat! They'd be too small! They didn't look like rat's eyes in his photo either. I was wondering if it was poetic license, but it was in the news paper so i spose it must be true. I'm not sure what his real motives were either. He was saying it was cos he didn't like immigrants but in the papers they had pictures of all his victims and helpfully said how many times he'd shot them and i did notice that the immigrant looking ones didn't get shot any more times than the non-immigrant looking ones. There was this one black kid who only got shot once while this aryan looking dude was shot like 3 times in the head! It don't make no sense. I was also wondering how he got so many. I can't help thinking if i was there at the first sign of gunshots i'd of scarpered. He'd have never got me! There was this one dude who tried to scarper tho but he fell off a cliff and died. I wouldn't of done that. I'd of scarpered in the other directions!

It's all about being creative.

TopGun Posted 18 April, 2012 Share Posted 18 April, 2012 I think the good and amazing thing about this trial is the way that the majority of the Norwegian people, press and politicians are staying objective despite the temptation to play to Brevik's wishes to cause further consternation in the country. I wonder whether the UK press and politicians would be able to handle a similar "politically engendered" event if it happened here in such a way. God hope it never does. norwaysaint Posted 18 April, 2012 Share Posted 18 April, 2012 I think there was a huge amount of pressure put on them to declare him sane so that he could stand trial. If declared insane, he could end up free again in too short a time. would you want to publicly be known to have contributed towards that? I have no knowledge of psychology, but what he was able to do automatically excludes him from my own concept of "sane".
Seaford Saint Posted 19 April, 2012 Share Posted 19 April, 2012 I am old enough to remember the Yorkshire Ripper. He was declared sane if i recall 3 votes to 2 by a panel of psychologists, might have been psychiatrists. Anyway he was diagnosed later as being mentally ill. In my opinion we as in society needed to find this man guilty first of all. Maybe that's going on here. Insane men can't plan? Who says so? Danish Saint Posted 19 April, 2012 Share Posted 19 April, 2012 Day 3 of his trial was yesterday, and the prosecution is doing a fantastic job of mismantling his distorted vision of the world. My office in Oslo is located on hsi route to and from the courthouse, so as I'm writing this, he's just been transported in to his 4th day. I'm sure they will keep the pressure on him. At the same time, there has been a great many commentaries from historians, archaeologists and other researchers into his theories, all of which have proved his motivation as being wrong, misunderstood and just plain dumb. My guess is, he'll get 21 years in prison - followed by psychological evaluation at a closed institution untill he's 75-80 years old.

In what way was it personally abusive towards you in the way your comments were ? Oh, the SFC results/Titanic analogy wasnt a joke, either. It felt an appropriate analogy of the seasons direction at that time. You're just a bit of a **** really, arent you ?
