tisspahars Posted 15 April, 2012 Share Posted 15 April, 2012 First of all I know that some people say they couldn't possibly back against the Saints (fair enough but illogical imo - it doesn't mean you don't want them to win), however......after yesterday's results we have been somewhere between 1.35 and 1.4 to get promoted (that's between 4/11 and 2/5 in old money) and I think if you put in a "lay" at 1.4 you would certainly get your bet taken. Given that a lot of people here are both petrified we won't go up and rating it somewhere near 50/50 (a lot less than that in some cases) you would be crazy not to avail yourself of these prices imo. Just saying.....
SNSUN Posted 15 April, 2012 Share Posted 15 April, 2012 I have bet against Saints in the past, it did not feel good, but it does give some insurance to a bad result. Yesterday, I put £220 on a West Ham win. I got back £390 odd. Granted it was a dodgy risk given West ham's home form, but I just had that feeling after our defeat they'd win. Put a few notes down at Bet365 on Thursday when our odds were 16/1 to make the playoffs - they've now been slashed to 9/2. As you say, it leaves a dirty feeling. It was a bit, I know people say you should only bet what you can afford, but with a wedding coming up, £220 (which is what was in my ladbrokes account at the time) is a lot of money to me! Such was my strength of belief that West Ham would win, that's why I did it! Still most of that is now going back in my bank account, I'll leave just a little bit for future bets. (Perhaps betting on West Ham to win their last 3 games - I'm desperate to lose money!)
sotonjoe Posted 15 April, 2012 Share Posted 15 April, 2012 (edited) Alpine? On a serious note, there was a journo on Twitter before the Pompey game saying that he thought he'd seen Pompey at 40-1 to win at St Marys. I think that was rubbish as I couldn't see a price like that at any major bookmakers, but I was fairly convinced that I'd put a tenner on that just because it was such a ridiculously long price. Would I bet against Saints in general? No. However, I'd go for it if the price was silly (i.e. like the one I mentioned). s0108787 Posted 15 April, 2012 Share Posted 15 April, 2012 i had insurance on the Reading game, with a few spread bets. i had jason Roberts to score first and reading to win 2-1 @ 60/1. Was not a happy bunny when fonte ****ed up for the 3rd in injury time. it was bad enough we lost, but that just rubbed salt in the wounds.
