Just reminded on another thread (Closed because of some abusive idiot) about the ZDS Cup Final. Was it 92?

Anyone remember the route to Wembley that year (wasn't it regionalised)? I am sure i went to every game including Norwich away (how on earth were they in the southern pot? Its quicker to get to Forest)), midweek, 88 fans (lowest I have ever seen away), sure also there was Plymouth away where Timmy made a world class save, and there was a double against Chelsea (before the money), which if i remember, we won quite convincingly.

Stand to be corrected of course.

Remember the final well, 2 down at HT to Forest, Tim played well, Kevin Moore and Matty got us back in, then we lost it in normal time, or was it ET?

One of my man Branfoot's finest hours (his only one I spose).

In the final we were 0-2 down, got it back to 2-2 nod extra time then lot 3-2. Im pretty sure we also beat also best West Ham on the way as well, plus Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Yeah we did, over 2 legs. IIRC we won both legs home and away, I'm sure we beat West Ham 1-0 in the round before that.

Be sure, and matty dived beautifully to get us a pen.

I was one of the surprisingly small away following at stamford bridge for the southern final 2nd leg, the one and only time i heard the ¨' branfoot give us a wave' chant.

Highlight of the final was kevin moore rising like a salmon and scoring with a bullet header to equalise

2-0 at home (Terry Hurlock got 2nd goal) and 3-1 away.

Bloody Scott Gemill iirc, just as I was sobering up he slid in to poke away the winner.

I hear that Kevin Moore's not too good but not really at liberty to divulge sorry.

I was 15, just old enough to get served in the pubs got ****ed as a newt before kick-off. Wasps took a coach load up, amazing day. 2-0 down, we pulled it back to 2-2 and then Gemmill won it for them in extra time.

Kevin Moore = Legend

I can only remember the 2 matches v Chelsea, got into Stamford Bridge just after we had been awarded a penalty in the first few minutes which of course MLT scored! Remember thinking when we were 2 down in the final, what's so special about Wembley? My question was of course answered when Kevin Moore scored!

My first ever visit to wembley. What a comeback, Matty with two great strikes to put us back in it and into extra time, shame we couldn't bury them. Good day out though.

I always remember two guys in front of me, one was a regular the other along for the ride. The teams were being read out over the PA, when it came to the manager the regular said to his mate "just listen to this".......

"Manager for Southampton..... Ian Branfoot!!". Which was greeted by a crescendo of Boo's

There can be many (if any) teams in a Wembley final where the managers name was greeted so negatively.

I remember the away leg at Chelsea in the area final.

We were 2-0 up from the first leg when Jason Cundy conceded a pen in the opening minutes at Stamford Bridge.

Straight red for Cundy and Matt converted the pen; 3-0 up against 10 men, and even Saints couldn't throw that away!!

Stamford Bridge was a sh!t-hole in those days and I remember the chants of "you're gonna get your effing heads kicked in" from the Chelsea fans in the second half; the one and only time I've ever been at a match and thought it seriously might happen.

Happy days!!

I went to Ashton gate to see us beat Bristol City 2-1 in an earlier round. I 'think' David Lee scored one ( He was Rodney Wallaces replacement and he was ****e ) and i think Matt Le Tiss scored the other. I remember us winning 1-0 at Plymouth aswell or was that the season before?
